Also, for Rechenka, Diana was given some freedom, so she organised the set, choreography, costumes, etc herself!

An orphan girl from a foster family is married off (most likely, to a man older than her and not of her own free will). She comes to the river (reka), affectionately calling it rechenka. The river in the folklore of many peoples is the border between the world of the living and the dead. She turns to her deceased parents: she asks for advice and blessings. An orphan girl is faced with a choice - to drown herself, committing the sin of suicide, or still accept the circumstances and "go with the flow". What will she choose? This is decided by the audience together with the performer of this song.

“Rechenka” was the third song Diana sang on “You are Super 2018”, a televised talent show where she really began to be noticed by the Russian and International public as one of those overnight sensations, even though she had actually been performing for most of her life on stage before that. It's a Russian tradition to sing sad ritual songs at weddings to chase away evil spirits. "Recheck" is a soft way of saying "river" in Russian. As another commenter notes, this is a ritual song from the perspective of a young orphan girl about to marry a man she may not really know, and she comes to the river, the boarder between life and death, in the woods, always in literature a place of mystery and confusion to try to call out to her dead mother, asking for her blessing as she is about to begin her new life as a married woman. The song is made even more poignant, because Diana herself is effectively an orphan. She was abandoned by her birth mother at age 3, and was sent to an orphanage. She was adopted by a wonderful family at around 5 years old. But the echo of that reality haunts Diana's rendition of this song.
