0:00 Introduction: What causes vitamin D toxicity?
0:47 Vitamin D toxicity symptoms
2:23 Vitamin D toxicity explained
3:48 Vitamin D dosage
6:37 Tips when taking vitamin D supplements
In this video, we’re going to talk about vitamin D toxicity. If you take high doses of vitamin D3, you may experience some symptoms. It is more likely that you’re experiencing symptoms of a vitamin K2 or magnesium deficiency rather than vitamin D toxicity symptoms.
Magnesium deficiency is incredibly common. If you’re not taking enough magnesium while you’re taking vitamin D, you may begin to notice the following “vitamin D toxicity symptoms”:
• Irritability
• Insomnia
• Constipation
• Fatigue
• Muscle spasms/cramps
• Calcium buildup
• Arrhythmia
Coincidentally, these are also symptoms of low magnesium and low vitamin K2.
There are case studies involving vitamin D toxicity; however, the subjects did not take vitamin K2 or magnesium. In many cases, they were taking vitamin D2 rather than vitamin D3.
You don’t want to take calcium when testing for vitamin D toxicity because one of the symptoms of vitamin D toxicity is hypercalcemia or too much calcium in the blood.
According to Wikipedia, some symptoms of vitamin D toxicity are due to vitamin K depletion. Vitamin K2 is essential to prevent calcium buildup in the soft tissues. Vitamin D helps increase calcium absorption in the small intestine by 20 times.
Therapeutic doses of vitamin D can be beneficial for many health conditions. The Mayo Clinic only recommends 600 IU of vitamin D when 30 to 40 minutes of sunlight provides about 20,000 IU of vitamin D3.
Therapeutic doses of vitamin D can be especially beneficial for autoimmune conditions. Dr. Coimbra from Brazil utilizes a vitamin D protocol involving up to 200,000 IU.
If you’re taking vitamin D supplements, also take magnesium and vitamin K2. You also want to ensure adequate boron, zinc, and vitamin A intake.

The comments are gold. It’s the individuals who can self-experiment. Of all the dang videos on snoring, even Berg didn’t have a real answer. Then one of his viewers mentioned how dairy afflicts them with snoring. So I cut out all dairy and started dropping weight on this carnivore thing. Snoring was reduced tremendously. The comments are the real gold.

@@denisecohn2974 Carnivore gave me very lackluster results. While it may be the ultimate solution for most people, some of us will often need to dig deeper. I like to chime in whenever I can to share my experience and hope it will work for most. This is actually where the vegans shine as they are adamantly against dairy whereas the carnivore community seems to be divided on the matter. What I’m seeing much in the comments on carnivore videos is people passionately expressing the amount of cream, cheese, and sour cream they are consuming while losing large amounts of weight without effort. It is important to know that many of those finding success on carnivore are people who weigh close to 400lbs. Whereas I’ve been stuck at 200lbs despite carnivore: not morbidly obese but not happy with my weight. Upon picking up a book on dairy, I found that it contains 59 hormones and growth factors most concentrated in the fat. Removing dairy entirely was a challenge as I love heavy whipping cream in my morning coffee. After a few days, I began to have more energy and the scale finally started to move downwards! If a person goes from 400lbs down to 360lbs on carnivore, they are still morbidly obese. When you get down to a more normal weight, you may need to zero in on what will bring optimal results.

I was experiencing severe hair loss at age 55. I’ve always had full, thick wavy hair and this was super depressing. I’m menopausal too so at first I chalked it up to that. Tried the iRestore…nothing, tried fancy shampoos…nothing, tried serums…nothing. THEN I decided to try D3 w/K2. Plus a good multivitamin. I started with 10,000 D3 & 100 K2 per day the first couple weeks and then dropped to 5000 D3 with 100 k2 per day. After about a month I noticed a dramatic improvement in hair loss. (no handfuls of hair in the shower drain or when I brush it out anymore) It’s been about 2 months now and I’m thrilled with how much it has improved. My joint pain has seemed to be a little less too. Vitamin A is the same... perhaps if you take super high doses, like eating polar bear liver or whatever, you might suffer from toxicity. But most people are deficient, some more than others, and some people seem to have high need for Vitamin A. In my teens, I got rid of those whitehead lumps on my arms ("keratosis pilaris") by taking Vitamin A supplements - not particularly high dose, but then they got paranoid and you could only get beta carotene (which is not quite the same, re potency).

My PCP tried to scare me into getting vaxxed by saying that I was at risk of developing a pseudotumor cerebri from taking that high D3 dose. I researched and proved him wrong and the only vitamin connected to that was excess vitamin A. That particular case study involved a woman who took 50K IU’s of A a day for several years for cosmetic reasons. When she stopped taking the A, the pseudotumor cerebri resolved itself. 😂

I don't take Vitamin A because (I hope it's enough) I eat calve's or beef liver about 2 - 3 times a month. I'm lucky in that I love liver and usually make it with sauteed mushrooms or onions or both. But since I'm basically on a Ketovore Diet, with plenty of eggs, meat, butter, etc. I hope those foods make up any deficiency I might have in Vit. A.

Many years ago, after reading an article about how dangerous it was to take too much vitamin D, I stopped taking the multivitamins I was on because they contained the full RDA at that time which was 200 IU (5 micrograms) and I was also getting some from my diet. I ended up with a severe vitamin D deficiency! I only found out because my doctor took some blood tests (which isn't necessarily a standard practice) otherwise I probably wouldn't have known. After a few months on 800 IU, my levels were normal. After that experience I learnt to question studies, reports and news articles a bit more.

I was wondering what my vitamin D level after taking 6000 IU of D3 daily this winter. I was somewhat shocked by the reluctance of my doctor to add this measurement to my blood tests at my annual physical. He further said vitamin D3 had little to do with the function of the immune system. But, I was forewarned by people posting comments regarding requests for vitamin D3 tests that my doctor's response was common if not general. I persisted and said I would pay for the test out of my own pocket if necessary. He relented and the test result came in at 101.6. I was told my vitamin D was a little high. I am quite comfortable with that level.

Good info. As a naturopath I was always worried when one of my health clients was told by his or her medical Drs that their D3 is at 105 or 110 and is toxic! They freak out and tell them go off their supplement. So I always try to keep everyone between 65-90. I always have them take an A D K blend called D3 balance, which is 10,000 IU of D3 and correct ratios of A and K, and It works beautifully, and of course, magnesium glycinate. Now though, if we do this correctly, do not need to worry about the higher hydroxy D3 number being too high or toxic.

Is there any relation between vitamin d and thiamine? I could never take high doses of D even with magnesium and k2 even though i was deficient. But wen i started taking high dose thiamine for some other issues, i figured i could tolerate more vitamin D intake without feeling worse. It would be nice to know if there is any connection medically
@vvvios
@vvvios Ай бұрын
There is some limited research suggesting a possible connection between vitamin D and thiamine, but more study is needed. Here's what we know: Vitamin D activation: One study suggests vitamin D might play a role in activating thiamine [3]. Co-deficiency: Critically ill patients are at risk for deficiencies in all three - vitamin C, D, and thiamine [2]. Supplementation of all three might be beneficial in such cases. Enzyme interaction: There's some research on the interaction between vitamin D3 and an enzyme (alpha-glucosidase) that thiamine also interacts with [1]. This inhibition by vitamin D3 might be enhanced by thiamine, but more research is needed. I hope you have a wonderful day today and please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. I am here to help you anytime.
