Three years ago, the ‪@nypd‬ launched a database that allowed citizens to look up whether an officer had been disciplined. But an investigation by ProPublica found that, as recently as last week, the site meant to ensure accountability was fraught with data discrepancies. Cases against officers frequently vanish for days - sometimes weeks - at a time.

NYPD often complain they can't get hired by other cities.

Check the contract, I'm sure there's something about longevity of notations in the database.

Doesn't matter. Police disciplinary records are explicitly public records by law, with no exemptions except for the ones you'd get as a civilian. You could put in a request for it and get it eventually. The point of these stupid deletions happening is just to make it harder for the press and the public to sniff out bad cops.
