We're Balatro guys, of course we level straight up to lvl 3 in a 4 card hand build (?) and discard a straight on the final hand when it couldve saved us. (math) LVL 3 Straight is 90 base chips + 20 from cards (2+3+4+5+6) + 172 from square joker is 282 chips LVL 3 Straight is 10 base mult + 41 from green joker + 44 from sac dag joker x 3 from stencil joker is 285 mult 282 x 285 = 80,370 instead of 217 x 261 = 56,637 Professional type A chatter

My biggest mistake is not playing 5 cards on psychic. It's HARD to remember when you're brains memory is constantly playing 4 of a kind or 2 pair.

Northernlion, serious tip you can't keep spending all your early cash on tarot cards especially on the black deck. You can survive the first 3 blinds at least on any deck on any stake without ever buying anything, all you need are 1-2 good hands (like a high straight or flush). You need to focus early on earning enough money to get interest going or getting a joker who will carry you early game so you can coast off of it and build money. Wasting your early money on tarot cards, especially something like death cost you the asking price and the potential interest, which on black stake means you will just continue to be poor and run out of steam. Once you have the money to keep interest going and a reliable way to get enough score then you can focus on abusing tarot cards to really make your run take off. Also death is a strong tarot card but not when you're running a basic vanilla deck with no direction for your run.

Very true, on the first blind I always discard for an ace high straight as its consistent and always wins, I'm scared of going jokerless for the boss blind so I always prioritise jokers over tarot and planets, it's painful seeing him buy tarot packs in the first ante instead of the joker pack next to it, but that's what makes it fun watching him play so differently to me

To his credit, that playstyle makes for less runs making it to ante 3 or so, but the ones that do survive are primed to be a more powerful and interesting run. There is more to consider than just surviving another round.
