@@RobertSalas Yeah but makes no sence. 1. They could have comunicated with a space phone 2. Stitch is a part of the Ohana, they would tell him if Nani is getting a child 3. Jumba and Plikly are also part of the family and would know about Nani getting a child 4. If the characters are older, why do Jumba and Plikli not look older? In the timetravel/timeskip episode of the original series we could see that Jumba and Plikli look older in the future. 5. One of the other experiments could have told Stitch, there are over 600 experiments, you can't tell me that no one of them would know about it and be able to go to the meeting place to tell Stitch 5. Why would Stitch assume that Lilo abandoned him and not worry if something happened to her?

This was why I could never bring myself to watch it! After an entire movie and series where the tagline was literally “ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten,” it just feels like spitting in the face of that message to have Lilo just “outgrow” Stitch. It’s too bad because Lilo & Stitch and anime respectively are two of my favourite things and the animation looks so cool on it, but I just couldn’t bear to watch it because of that! I wish they’d come up with like literally any other reason for Stitch to be in Japan apart from Lilo. Like maybe she’s in college or off adventuring in the galaxy, and Stitch wanted to explore other places but they still keep in touch!

"You need to watch for full context" Y'all even *with* the full context it's stupid. (Spoiler warning for random comment scrollers) . . . Stitch would've never just automatically assumed Lilo stopped caring about him just for not showing up to their reunion. He would've been freaking out wondering if something happened to her, and try to look for her. Cause *that's* what friends/family do. And if he found out it's because Nani was in labor, he would've understood immediately. He *knows* how much the sisters care about each other. They literally used ohana as the *reason* this whole series' events started.

For all Madhouse taking such care to do the characters correctly, to have Lilo say that was a significant misstep. Ohana means family. Nobody gets left behind or forgotten.
@rozegunn
@rozegunn 9 ай бұрын
Yeah, apparently Japan as a culture entirely disliked Lilo because of her personality and her actions. While the movie did blow up, many parents and adults in general were apprehensive of letting children see Lilo's actions. While understandable given her broken family, they were still worried about kids taking after Lilo and being disruptive or hostile because, well, honestly Lilo IS a problem child. So I'm not all too surprised the anime version removed Lilo.

Lilo is just a kid suffering some brain issue, making the result of her behavior. Did this series ruin the franchise? Probably
@hailst0rmie
@hailst0rmie 8 ай бұрын
As someone who related to Lilo as a child this bothers me immensely. Children do not behave perfectly, especially coming from broken homes. She's a 6 year old who doesn't know how to handle instability at home and school. Every "crazy" act of hers is either self defense or an attempt to help her sister. I understand that the severity of behavioral expectations varies by culture, but this story was never about familial ideals. They removed the core of the franchise for the sake of marketing Stitch to people who only liked his design, and it's insulting.

Here's how to make the idea of "Stitch in Japan, without Lilo" work. Stitch and Family decide to go on vacation to Japan. Something happens that causes Stitch to be accidentally left behind. Maybe its a Home Alone thing where the family thinks Stitch is with them, only to realize he's not when they get home. Stitch is lost in a Japan, and is helped out by a local girl. Lilo spends the entire show (offscreen since Japan didn't want her) trying to get back to Japan and get Stitch back. Throw in a line about how "the best thing to do when you're lost is to stay where you are" to explain why Stitch stays in Japan. Final episode has Lilo and Stitch reunite and Lilo becomes friends with local Japanese girl. Lilo and Stitch go home and everyone remains in touch. No dumb fallout between Lilo and Stitch, and everyone remains in character.

I really hated the "Stitch!" Anime and tbh I still kind of do. It really bugged me that the show got rid of Lilo by having her abandon Stitch. She would never do that. Even though in one episode they reunite it always left a sour taste in my mouth. The phrase: "Ohana means family and family means nobody ever gets left behind or forgotten." Is thrown away since Lilo is completely forgotten about throughout the rest of the series.

I remember discovery the existance of this 5 years ago and watching it. I almost dropped it in the 1st season as it felt like it could have been its own show that only slapped stitch characters, though it does progressively get better afterwards when they include more characters related to the stitch franchise.

My high school has a sister school in Okinawa and when I visited, I remember seeing Lilo and Angel on signs all over the airport. That was my first introduction to the Stitch anime. Geographically and even a little bit culturally there's some overlap between Hawaii and Okinawa especially, and I remember thinking it was cool that a show from one island culture could speak so much and resonate so much with the other.

Though MadHouse Animated Seasons 1 & 2, Season 3 was animated by Shin-Ei animation, the Studio Behind Shin-Chan & Doraemon. They changed a lot of things with the anime including the art style and adding new Experiments exclusive to the anime (Also, Best Season). Also, the Lilo moment in the 1st Episode was altered thanks in due to the dub, that Scene doesn't exist in the Japanese version. But still, I'm glad Saberspark looked at this anime and saw what I did when I was doing research on it and found that this series isn't as bad as people say it was, just mishandled.

Even if Lilo was an adult and had her own child, Stitch was FAMILY to her. She just let him go as a kid like that didn't mean anything, and then when finding him again later said "he has a new family now, he'll be happier if he never knew I was here." That's character assassination.

Yeah I still can't get over that they tore Stitch out of Lilo's life and then did the "Twist reveal" about Lilo grown-up with a kid for melodrama. If they just didn't do that, I would've still been skeptical but willing. The problem is I really love Nani and Lilo so while I can accept them needing to be apart for certain reasons, even that, and Stitch getting bored and even acting out, I just don't like the idea of them turning their backs on him entirely, even as a misunderstanding or whatever. It definitely works better as an Alternate Universe and I don't know why they didn't just do that if they didn't want to include Lilo and her sister in with more cameos. Edit: And I agree Stitch's "fish out of water" scenario works to introduce us to any culture, with friction then harmony so they really could do a million AUs lol. Like even just Lilo being grateful that he found a new friend and playmate while she has to deal with adulthood and maybe HER DAUGHTER getting to tag along the new adventures if they visit on vacation like come on! And then Lilo still being happy to see him even if she's really busy. Just please... I mean Stitch going his own way to spend time with Angel wasn't being portrayed as him hating Lilo or whatever so why do this?? It's been years since I saw those episodes in full so I don't remember the entire context but it just angers me so much. I was all for trying new antics with a new girl until the opening episode tried to info-dump this idea and I gave up not long after. Then when I saw the adulthood reveal episode later on it didn't make things better. Lilo would hang out with Luz if she had the chance as a teenager don't you dare tell me she grows up to become a less sincere and more boring version of Camila Noceda, my awesome nerd mama of choice.

This isn't the first time Disney got involved with Madhouse. Madhouse also worked on "The Fantastic Adventures of Unico" (1981) and "Unico in the Island of Magic" (1983) based on Osamu Tezuka's Unico Manga alongside Sanrio Film/Sanrio Animation. During Disney Channel's infancy, Disney used to frequently air both Unico Movies during the mid to late 1980s. This resulted with Unico gaining a dedicated cult following with Western Audiences (mainly from the United States). Not only did American fans managed to actually get an official English translation of the original Unico manga in 2012. But the upcoming new Unico Manga called "Unico: Awakening" is actually an American/Japanese collaborated manga. The manga serves as a reintroduction to Tezuka's Unico to a new generation of readers!

The thing about "Stitch!" isn't even that it's a bad show, but it just ruins so many character development of the original characters, that I can only see it as an AU. In Leroy and Stitch, Gantu got his job back and Reuben (625) became the ship cook. But in the anime he's suddenly evil again, cause he lost his job for singing bad Karaoke? Like what? And of course the biggest most unlogical thing, Stitch leaving Lilo. At the end of Leroy and Stitch, Stitch relized that the place he really belongs to is with Lilo. The Lilo episode makes pretty much no sence. The "missunderstanding" is so weird. Like if Nani was getting a child, Stitch would know about it, he's part of the family, he would be there for Nani. If Lilo wouldn't show up to a agreed meeting place, Stitch wouldn't go crazy thinking she forgot him, wouldn't he be worried that something happened to Lilo? Wouldn't Jamba and Pliiklii know about Nani getting a child? It all just doesn't add up. And if there was a timeskip, why are Jumba and Pliiklii not older? In the timetravel episode of the original show we could see that with a time that long they look older. But in Stitch they don't look older at all. So yeah to me both the Stitch anime and Stitch and AI (the chinese Spinoff) are taking place in alternative Universes XD I really want to see new content with Lilo and Stitch. Lilo and Stitch just belong together.

I do enjoy the Stitch! anime. It has a lot of great moments and it's really cool how much detail and respect they gave to Okinawa culture without making it feel forced in. My only true issue with the series is how much it ignored lore established in the Lilo and Stitch series as a whole. WHY are Gantu and Ruben working for Hamsterviel again when Gantu became Captain of the Galactic Armada again at the end of Leroy and Stitch? How come none of the experiments that show up throughout the series return to Kawaii after Stitch frees them from Hamsterviel's mind control? How did Lilo never know where Stitch went when she was made Earth's first representative on the Galactic Council in Leroy and Stitch? With that position, wouldn't at least the Grand Council Woman, whom is on close terms with Lilo's family, have brought it up at some point in casual conversation? Why did Lilo tell Stitch Nani was her sister as if he wouldn't know who Nani is by name? These issues were the reason I couldn't fully let myself fall into the anime. It's background info that should be addressed, quickly to clear up as little confusion as possible, but it never was. It was treated as unimportant and just rectoned despite how those details are the huge kinds you CAN'T just retcon without planning it carefully
