I'm always gonna enjoy any time characters that don't have magic titan or Ackerman powers get to shine and look cool. Connie and Floch standing out this episode for sure.

It's easy to forget with the Ackerman and Titans dominating the battlefields, but Conny did rank into the top 10 of their promotion. And then survived multiple expeditions with the Scouts. Him and the other survivors from the 104th are all some of the most experienced fighters at this point.

You may not like Floch, but you can't disrespect him. He gave his life to save the people on the island, didn't give up even in the face of death. Rest in peace, hero

To the Yeagerists Mikasa,Armin,Connie, Jean,and Hannge(Levi is definitely highly respected to) are considered legends to the cadets and yet here those same role models are slaughtering them simply for being on opposite sides. Also 16:46 props to your memory of what happened to Mikasa when Eren was still new to his transformations. At this point its definitely easy to forget about that.

iT may be a bit too much thinking but I think Floch, Levi and Hanji posses glimps of Erwin's qualities. Like alone nether one of them is as good as Erwin but combined they are. Levi has Erwin's battle skills ( actually better), Hanji has Erwin's skill for strategy and Floch despite being a xenophobic has the skill to rally troops together under one common cause ( like Erwin's speech for suicidal charge) and the crazy will to achieve his goal even at the cost of innocent ( Erwin's plan to capture Female titan inside the wall in season 1 despite knowing it will lead to many civilian deaths). Floch is not a good hearted character but he gives his heart to the cause and completely believes in it. As do Hanji and Levi. I personally find Floch's character most interesting because of his development. He was almost a bystander rookie recruit who was pretty much forced to face death and survived from it and that changed him completely. We all know how incredibly fierce and brave Levi and Hanji are. But people just tend to ignore the fact that Floch too is ready to die for his cause. He doesn't fear death. He isn't a typical antagonist. There's layers to his character and I personally love such complex negative characters a lot.

So many people were CRAZY hype at this episdoe & yall were just... so upset the whole time LMAO 😭I actually love that, this show hits hardest when you are truly empathetic to all the characters and understand just how HEAVY the weight of their decisions are.

One sad thing about Shadis is that everyone knew that Magath sacrifice himself but no one knew Shadis was also there to help. In the end he still died being a bystander but he died doing what he believed was right.

I'm really glad they took this time to give these two a well-deserved farewell, they were really important for the story and now both of them realized there is nothing more in their lives to do, they know what was wrong and this was the best moment to end their lives and be remembered not as villains but heroes. It's never a bad time to remember that iconic line from Kenny seconds prior to his death: "Everyone has to be drunk on something to keep pushing on".

Ngl ion see how people don’t respect Floch more. He’s a good leader to the yaegerist in my eyes. Always keeps them motivated, strategized and can drop commands while in the heat of battle. Mans even went out dodging Titans, Hange and The 2nd best 3DM user(Mikasa) Also Mikasa massacring the yaegerist on the rooftop was just disgusting.

MAPPA really put their all into this episode. Floch rallying up his troops with a speech about how if they lose now, their comrades dreams will be in vain, everyone will be lost, and telling them to fight. Being willing to stand on the front lines until the very end and failing when he's merely a hair from his goal. Just like Erwin. He had to become like the Devils he always admired. For Eren. And with that sheer determination of all of Eldia riding on his shoulders, he charged at the Jaw Titan(known for its speed), Hange(one of the highly trained veteran soldiers, AND Pieck(another extremely fast titan) AND he outmaneuvered ALL OF THEM and almost took down the ship. Even with the odds stacked against him, he still fought. The Alliance says that their fallen comrades would never agree with what Eren plans to do. Floch says he's following what Eren wants to do BECAUSE of their fallen comrades.

It's funny that some people thinks that floch and the scout are villains because they killing enemies. And thinks hange with her group are heroes even though they killing friends and families to make their enemies be friends.

In character development, of course, the author is very good. Floch, Jean, Gaby, and especially Eren. Of course there are exceptions in the form of Mikasa and Levi, but Levi is good as it is, he's already an established personality and there's an excellent OVA "No Regrets" devoted to his development. As for Mikasa, there are dull and uninteresting characters everywhere, there's nothing you can do about it

On chapter 139.5 after Mikasa and Armin stop the rumbling sparing 20% of humanity which Marley later repays Paradis back by dropping war bombs on Shiganshina and the extermination of all Eldians out of bloody revenge. Eren and the Survey Corps all died for nothing, Floch and the Yeagerists were right along. The entire world was the true enemy outside the walls.

Maggath; Shadis death: Shadis and Maggaths death are one of the most beautiful circles in aot i think. For the same reason Erwin had to fulfill his Circle in this story in the Charge against the Beast titan, these BOTH had to die. And they did in the most magnificient way possible. The author isayama once was asked on what Episode he had worked the most and he answered: Season3 EPisode11 ''Bystander''. Many people wondered bc its not even a cinematicly epic Episode its mostly story of Keith Shadis and his relationship to Grisha and Carla and how he wanted to be the ''Main Protagonist'' but had to accept that he's not capable of that and that he'd lead so many people into death caused him to give his work as the Scouts Chef to Erwin. Keith accepted his siderole and every scene he delivered that through something, like the moment he's gotten himself beaten up by the yaegerists. The more he saw Carla's son growing the more proud he was on the kids he trained, for being mature and not just strong. He felt regret(thats what he said in THIS episode we're now in) and felt proud that they connected to do something ''That leads the Elders out of the Forest''(sorry for that metaphor :-) hopefully you get it). He doesn't wantto see the outcome of all of that, and he didnt even wanted to get any attention(NOBODY has seen him entering the Boat even if he could've said something or leave a message) so he literally just suicide, helping his ''kids'' doing something to be proud of, and accepting his role as the ''Bystander''. And for Maggath: Season4 introduced a new cast, that mirrors the cast we got introduced to in Season1. Maggath is the same guy just on the opposite side. He's the one training Kids to kill for racism and nationalism. But seing Gabi, growing up through experiencing these relationships with Kaya and Sashas Family,literally raising herself that racism is wrong; and the other kids too that made all these ideas of not killing anymore...even Maggath found a fatherly role, and due to the absolut low chances of a positive outcome in that rumbling situation he decided to sacrifice himself, wearing the coat with the Wings of Freedom(that was originally the Flag of his Enemies if you think about it...); dying proud with the one, he could've drinken a beer with.... I love the fact that these Men are dying. It fills the term ''Bittersweet'' to perfection. And once again, proofs genius Storytelling through detailconnectivity off the Episodes. :D Happy to be here for Sidefacts c(:
