My first playthrough I went in there completely nude, drugged out of my mind and killed smasher with a sledgehammer for the laughs. I mean, a coked out kinda buff guy who’s only implant is gorilla arms, huffing combat stimulants running at you with a massive hammer while foaming at the mouth? I couldn’t think of a more humiliating way for Smasher to go out.

Wow! So close together! My first playthrough was 111 hours!

I played the game at launch so I knew when he was the big bad that oh no 😭 who's gonna even survive and make it out to tell the tale and who's gonna turn into collectables 😭😭

I saved money to buy the game on release, but i wanted to wait a week to buy it, just to see some reviews... After that disaster i had a visceral negative reaction whenever the game was mentioned. And then the anime came out, i watched it, felt dead inside, and my friend told me the game had been patched up real good, so I gave it a chance. Currently the game is a solid 8/10 in my book, thankfully I didn't experience it when it was completely broken.

The show gave us that idea. Almost every scene talks about how special David is but it doesn't tell us how or why he's special because at the end of the day. He's no different than you or I.. just trying to live our life one step at a time

@@sigma2653 Also, his resistance made him special... but resistance is not immunity. At the end of the day, everything and everyone crashes and burns. When you're running on the edge, it only takes one slip to never come back.

@@Kayriel He didn't really have a resistance to it but more of a cope/stable environment via his friends. The game hints of the idea of having good relationships as well as a stable mental health then you wouldn't go into cyberphycosis. David just had a really good environment around him preventing him from going buck shit crazy. Another decent point to this argument is when David snaps out of cyberphycosis because Lucy kisses him.

The ending hit the way it did because of Lucy imo and then when shes finally in the moon missing David hit the hardest 😢

We were too used to the main character having plot armor we ended up taking David for granted until we lose him

I think it’d be funny if you had David’s jacket on V would yell, “This is for David!” and one of the characters would yell from across the room, “Who?”

Think Adam at least remembers David. He gained respect for him which is why he was willing to "spare" him

I think Adam probably remembers David, considering David seems to have been the first somewhat challenging fight Adam had had in years. He even says something to David that alludes to this. Not to mention, I think Adam at least somewhat respects anyone with a tolerance for cybernetics that can rival his own, or at least come close.

This makes me angry for some reason 🤣 he would say something like that

Kinda same here. Started Cyberpunk 2077 before watching Edgerunners, got David's jacket and basically went "Eh, that's one off the docket. I find yellow pretty tacky so I don't think I'm gonna wear it". This Monday I decided to finally watch Edgerunners a watch since I'd heard it was really really good and since I'm loving 2077 well, I deffo wanted to watch it. Well let's just say that I no longer find the jacket tacky and I'm gonna wear it and use Becca's shotgun to put Adam Smasher's ass into the ground.

What are you talking about? Rebecca already resolved to die when they went to Arasaka Tower. When David was carrying her and she knew his psychosis can't be stopped anymore she knew it was a suicide mission and she went with him anyway.

Foreshadowing? Mate, this is the Cyberpunk genre, of course there would be heartbreak and certainty of death. The only question is: how hard would it hit? Saw David's death coming a mile away after the moon promise to Lucy, but the reason why Rebecca's death was so hard to take was that you didn't even see it coming and in that kind of fashion. She was the comic relief character, so it did catch me entirely off guard.

I heard the song playing while I was in the middle of a random alley encounter, and I just blitzed through all the enemies so I could find the source of the music and stood there by that radio until the song ended.....didn't even loot the bodies lol.

@@Deathpool_04 Yes that would make sense if Lucy took the jacket, but we don't know what really happened during the 1 year difference. So there may be a possibility of a circumstance why Lucy couldn't retrieve it. -Lucy couldn't probably return to night city, as everyone is now staying on low profile, to pretend to be presumably dead, or waiting until she or someone defeats smasher first. -Lucy purposely left it along with some items from everyone (which would fit your idea, though unlikely considering her personality) -etc... So there is still a likelyhood she wanted their items back, but couldn't... thus it would justify one last delivery mission.

She had a one way ticket to go to the moon and if she was going to bring something of David’s with her there, it would’ve most likely have been his jacket. The jacket was in the truck with her and Falco when they driving away. Dropping her off with the jacket would’ve made the most sense but for some reason, Falco kept it. She also didn’t leave Night City right away. The end credits of the anime with her mourning everyone and in the game, she had enough time to put the names of her fallen allies in the Columbarium which was probably the last thing she did before leaving Night City. With her waiting for Adam Smasher to be dealt with, that just doesn’t work because I don’t think she expected anybody to take him out. Adam Smasher was the boogeyman of night city and she saw that even David, who was all chromed up, couldn’t take him nor was he close to doing so.

I feel like you all forget something very essential about the human condition. One pushed to the very brink. With no options or hope left. Even giving them a shred of a chance of hope is more than enough to ignite a fire and more than enough people. It's like a spark On some kindling. All it takes is a little bit of nurturing and you have a bonfire big enough to burn down all the vanities. Then again I'm an optimist Even in the very face of absolute oppression and horror i'm never the kind of person who thinks there's a no win scenario. Maybe it won't happen today? Maybe it won't even happen within a few years but change is as inevitable as the very orbit of the earth around the sun. All one needs to do is have confidence that with time things will change. .As long as there are good people out there with the desire and effort to make the 1st step. A lot of the stories in The game are about those people trying to make those little steps to help make the world a better place and help get everyone else in the world to realize just. What's going on. It's actually kind of sad that you all see it's so bleakly. Especially when we've played the game and we have people like Johnny constantly trying to remind us there is A reason for why we do what we do.
