To tell the truth. When I heard about this, for just a second, I did not realize how racists that is. I am proud African American who did not even know that that was racist. I am greatly disappointed of myself. When I noticed what I had just saw, I felt like crying. I can't believe that no one in my family had mentioned how wrong that is. I had friends call me a monkey beforehand at a very young age and I was never told that this is wrong. Why haven't I, a 13 year old girl, never been told that that is wrong? How come these sort of comments are not written in books for students to learn from? Why didn't teachers correct them? This breaks my heart. I will never be the same. Thank you, The Real, for teaching me a very important lesson.

My mum’s black and my dad’s white and my whole family called me monkey while i was younger and even wore clothes that said it on. I never thought it could have been seen as racist from the outside in. It probably is just a very british form of affection. Such an eye opener.
