Former Baltimore Police Sgt. Ethan Newberg's disgraceful downfall continues as new body camera footage reveals an incident in which the ex-cop made three illegal arrests, and then threatened to arrest entire block full of witnesses. Although they were initially responding to a neighborhood dispute, Newberg and his partner arrested a local resident who was not involved in the altercation almost immediately. When neighbors began to protest, Newberg escalated to arrest two more residents-and threatened to keep going until the whole neighborhood was in handcuffs. Police Accountability Report returns with exclusive footage of Sgt. Newberg's outburst, and what it tells us about the state of policing in Baltimore and around the country.

Looking at the faces of the majority of police at that incident, I would say that they also felt the officer in charge was excessive. Yet they all complied.

This is how residents are treated in an occupied country.

I love how they say “until this scene is safe” they are the only ones who made it unsafe.

The cops should go to jail for that. He illegally arrested a free man. And none of his orders were lawful.

This is disgusting and they should all be held accountable, stripped of their abusive authority.

There is no such thing as an illegal arrest. Call it what it is: Kidnapping.

If the body cams are paid for by the public, then why isn't all of the footage made public by law?

They have a cut and dry lawsuit and those three people who was illegally arrested should sue the officers involved as well.

We were treated in a similar manner after witnessing a crime the police refused to investigate. A car full of young adults from 18 to late 20s in age jumped on a 14 year old girl. The situation was so bizarre that the mother and her daughter were packed within the hour and they moved back with family a few states away! They were terrified by the situation and after speaking with police. The criminals were allowed a free pass. Later, this officer was fired, not arrested, for dealing drugs and went to work for the sheriff department shortly after. The carload was a family known for all sorts of crime including drugs. All reputation and some hearsay but certainly believable if you ever had the misfortune of an interaction with them

Well he was dismissed from force, arrested, tried, found guilty, and sentenced to 30 months (all suspended except 6 months home detention). He lamented that his 28 years of service was reduced to few videos in a single incident. But then it turns out that there were videos of similar incidents handled the same way by Newberg.
Be kind🤝
