Amazing memories chaps, and I'm glad you're kindred spirits. Off the top of my head I think the Phil Rutherford '33 roadster was a massive influence, I'm sure there were other '33 and '34 based cars around the time that were awesome too. Nigel Grimshaw's Mazda minitruck was something I loved too, met him and the truck at a sound off in Wembley, he showed me round the truck which was amazing. I used to read a magazine called Street Rod and Sport Truck, at least I think that was the name, maybe you've read it too...

Great conversation and interesting to hear where all of your own beginnings began!

Mark Smith's red k11 Micra - proper game-changer-on-a-budget, and has never been bettered in terms of non-showcar small hatches. Ian Birch's light blue Golf Rallye - M3 mirrors and TSW Venoms, and two vr6 engines. Blew my young mind away. Clubman spec Metro 6r4s in general were a mainstay of my youth whether on tarmac or on gravel. Others include Thunderbug (GN), that green Karmann Ghia that had a flip-around number plate for smoothness, the Sbarro Function, Project Mad Max...
