This video takes a closer look at the ghillie suit seen in my previous videos for people interested in making something similar. It also compares the ghillie side by side with parachute material in conjunction with camo netting, and shows how radiant barrier looks (as opposed to mylar space blankets seen here previously) and how RB works with parachute and camo netting.
The thermal device used here is the Pulsar Helion 2 XP50 / XP28 (its a Helion 2 XP50, with the optional f28 conversion lens to function as an XP28), with 640 sensor, 17 micron pitch, sub 40k NETD sensitivity.

Id be curious to see how effective a long cape/cloak made out of parachute material would be. But fixing it to a hat which you would wear on your head.

The netting is still hella loud to move with. But i appreciate ur efforts!! Keep improvin!

Yep, the netting is loud. ☹️ one of the downsides of ordering online. I had no idea until it arrived. But I think it shows potential visually. So I need to find netting made with another type of material that is quieter, but still creates that stand off and thermal break. Humn. Softer and more flexible probably means quieter, but it might lay flat instead of having that “poofiness” I want. Technical term. From the 80’s. For hair. Lol. 🙄 I need to talk to a costume specialist to get ideas on what types of material might fit the bill. There might be something commercially available im just not aware of. Anyway, thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I’ll just keep on trying. 👍🏻

@@ThatThermalGuy I reckon the netting is only loud coz it's really loose. If it's fixed together it won't rub between layers and in a fitted fixed suite/position it,'ll fit and be quiet. Then stitch onto it some ghillie strips which will silence the netting further and aid in blocking visual plus thermal Sig.

@@ms_needle3502 Hey, got it! I had started writing a response, then got your second, and deleted everything before I sent it. Lol. Good timing. 👍🏻 I’ll write more tomorrow, but wanted to at least confirm receipt. Thank you!

We picked it up at an army surplus store, I think it was outside Layton/Salt Lake City UT area. Huge. Can’t remember the name though. Be advised, the strings were cut. It was not a usable parachute. But the chute itself was full and intact.

@@ThatThermalGuy ight what material is it made from. It looks like nylon and I was wondering if I could possibly use other nylon based fabric as a substitute.

How do people live life with dying smoke detectors?
@ThatThermalGuy
@ThatThermalGuy 2 жыл бұрын
Pretty easy. You tune it out and ignore it. I didn’t even notice it was still doing it until people started commenting. I’ve changed the battery a couple times and verified voltage via multimeter. Batteries are fine. The detector falsely reads low for whatever reason. But it goes off when smoke backdrafts from wood stove into room, or when I cook with oil too hot on cast iron pan. So it works fine. I just tune it out and don’t even notice anymore. You’d be surprised what you can adapt to and tune out.
