Thermal fusion systems usually consist of a thermal image overlay piggy backed onto an analog night vision device. Thermal-optical image fusion systems like the AGM Fuzion LRF use an IR sensitive low light camera in lieu of an analog image intensifier; that makes them much cheaper and in theory better suited to daytime use.
So how does it actually work, and who would benefit from a system like this? Probably not you or me. But it seems like it's just a matter of time before thermal overlays will be added to wearable digital night vision, and that will make it much more attractive.
