I've used a few cable routing solutions and I'd definetly recommend getting some textile sleeving. It's easy to open and swap things then re-wrap. I also want to note that your issue is a broken wire so you don't really need to replace the full thermister. Adding a couple microfit or even a simple dupont connector would save you from needing to swap the thermister and opening the board enclosure.

I had the I had a similar problem just a few days ago, but on the other end of the spectrum, my hot end temp dropped to -14C. Didn't take too long to realize that my thermistor had gone bad. Creality actually has a nice little video here on KZfaq showing how to replace it. It even has a few tricks on how to run the wires through the sleeves. But I have to admit, all that hot glue that they put on the board, what a pain in the butt. Thankfully, every other issue I have had with my Max has been minor ones.

If you are replacing the thermistor use strong thread like carpet thread tie it to best end of the BAD thermistor to go through the sock. Pull out the bad thermistor cut thread and tie it to the new one. Pull the thread to pull the new thermistor through and reassemble.

I took the silicon style flexible cube shaped thing off my ender hot end (right on the nozzle almost) to unblock a filament snap off in there and got this alert all the time until I put the silicon sleeve back on my direct drive printing nozzle. so you might be able to try that too, it worked for me.

I had to replace the thermistor on my Ender a few days ago. What led me to believe it was the thermistor was watching the display screen. The display of the printhead temp normally climbs by two or one degree at a time while preheating and stays at the exact temp or within a degree or so. When mine went bad, the temp was jumping all over the place sometimes by ten or more degrees at a time. Print head simply cant warm up that quick. Surprised that the factory did you the run around like that. I was planning to contact the factory to get a free replacement to have on end but think I will save my time instead. Thanks!

had the same problem as you and this is the fix! In most cases the problem is a white powder residue on the thermistor. Just pull it out and clean the white powder off and blow out the hole, then reassemble. It's that easy. This happens a few weeks to few months after getting a new Ender 3. Just depends on how much you use it.

I've had thermal runaway happen once on one of my two Ender 3 V2 printers. I had removed the sock from the heat block when this happened. I'd turned off the printer then, put the sock back on, and the problem had stopped right away. Thing is, I've removed that sock several times since, and I've not had thermal runaway, which is odd. I've also been printing 24/7 without incident.

did you have to add extra wire to the thermistor that was for the pro. thanks for a great video
@PrintPractical
@PrintPractical 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, so first I assembled it with the unmodified thermistor, and ran a few test prints to make sure it solved the issue. I then cut off around 6-8 inches of the old thermistor at the plug end and extended the new thermistor wires. The weird thing is the old thermistor would work as normal on a short print (under an hour), but it would fail on longer prints. I believe that there may have been a micro-fracture of a wire on the old thermistor causing it to misbehave during certain movements or something. So I could see it being risky to reuse part of the old thermistor, as I didn’t know where the issue was within those wires. This is why I’m stressing to try the new thermistor as is before extending it if you are going to reuse some of the wires from the old one. Anyway, thanks for watching!

@PrintPractical

Yeah I’ve heard similar stories of the thermistor not being seated correctly after some time. The weird thing I was seeing is that the thermistor was working correctly for 95% of the time, but randomly it would misbehave. I did try re-seating it, but I continued to see the issue. My guess was that I had a small fracture in the wire, and specific movements would cause it to misbehave, but I can’t exactly prove that.

Did you set the voltage switch on the power supply to the correct voltage? (110A for US) if this is happening on a new machine, depending on where you bought it from id return it. You spent $329 on this?!?! Wtf.... I got an Ender 3v2 on sale for $229, which is arguably a much better model. Damn dude shop around and check prices, you just wasted a ton of money on an inferior printer, and I can't stand the screen on those ones, the one on the v2 is so nice.. You could have gotten a 3v2 and nearly fully upgraded it for what you spent...smh. Did you really need the extra printing area? I find the 220x220x250mm printing area on the v2 to be more than enough for me. And you're still using the included bowden tube too? That's the first thing you should upgrade right there. Also get some metal leveling knobs with better springs, the included plastic knobs and springs are trash and your bed will need to be leveled all the time, but at least you got a touch sensor lol, but that doesn't mean you don't have to level your bed anymore, you still do you just don't have to be as accurate, the sensor will mathematically compensate. You should also get an all metal extruder and get a dual z-axis upgrade, that will improve print accuracy and prevent the printer head from sagging as it moves farther away from the lead screw, if you had 2 lead screws, 1 on each side, then you wouldn't have to worry about it. Also get a Raspberry Pi with Octoprint and a cheap webcam, that's probably the single best upgrade you can get. On mine I've also upgraded the hotend to a Creality Spider which prints 5x faster and converted to direct drive.
