low score games can still be highly entertaining....so that is NOT the reason to get drunk and support your team. football in europe and south america is more like a religion....there is a deep connection between fans and their club...thus there is a support before, during and after the game. you give all for your team.

Low scoring games are SO much more entertaining though! Part of the beauty of football ⚽️ is that goals are “rare”. And still, You can have a match with nothing happening for 80 minutes and have all hell break loose is the final minutes, and end up with a 2-1 result or even more in some cases. The beautiful game ladies and gents.

When you are a fan for team in Europe is more then only to be a fan, thats is a lifestyle. In italy say the people we have 3 Religon, first is Football, secound is Food and third is the Church. When you visit for exemple a game in Germany is tradition to drink a Beer and eat a Bratwurst or a Curry Wurst, thats part of the fan culture. Of course, has some fans, they drink a little to much, but they are under observation of the Security. Also everthing is under control by the game.

Hello from Germany, this is another great video. You're the first person I've seen react to it so far who mentions that the stadium must be built that way on purpose. You're right. German engineering/construction. In Europe, but also in South America, fan culture looks a little different. Here in Europe, fans organize themselves into fan clubs and spend a lot of free time with and for the club. Very often, even the whole family is involved. I can recommend you to visit a game if you ever visit Germany or another European country. I know it's loud, but you will have a good time. Clubs Europe: 2:55 Borussia Dortmund (Germany), 3:29 1. FC Köln (Germany), 5:15 Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany), 5:55 Northern Ireland National Team, 6:33 AC Milan (Italy), 7:01 France National Team, 7:33 Iceland National Team, 7:56 Aris Thessaloniki F. C. (Greece), 8:53 Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany), 9:10 Ajax Amsterdam (Netherlands), 9:32 Malmö FF (Sweden), 10:16 Paris Saint-Germain (France), 10:48 Romania National Team

The game day in Europe is literally a game DAY. You meet early in a bar; you have a couple of bottles of breakfast; you go to the stadium; you sing your songs; you meet other fan clubs on the way; you enter the stadium, facing the opponents fan club on the other side of the stadium; you see all their banners, flags and colors; you hear them singing and chanting and all you can think of is to be louder in your own home. Game day is awesome :)

the rivalries in europe and south america are usually very dangerous. two of my clubs supporters were killed prior to a derby day (a derby is when to clubs of the same city play each other, its usually a big rivalry). the alcohol sometimes has nothing to do with it, teams here have mentalities and/or political ideologies. in italy there are a lot of games where its pretty much a left vs right faceoff. we're born into it and we defend the colors of our club and city. great content. all the best :)

Low score games are especially thrilling because the closer it comes to an end, the worse a failure can be.. these Games are packed with brilliant tactical solutions and a single step into the wrong direction can make the difference. In an european football game you are ready to build everything up with what you've got from the first to last second. In US sports is basically like an RPG where it goes from one direction into the other for a whole game.. most of the us sports arent even worth watching until the last quarter.

But I would say that it's like in the movies, football is like a drama movie or a thriller, it's all about suspense and anxiety while other sports are more like an action movie, just action from start to finish. So yeah that's loud. for comparison: 60-65dB: a normal conversation 80-90dB: a jackhammer at 10m (~30ft) or heavy traffic is around 100dB: Jackhammer with 0m 110dB: live rock music, starting plane at 60m (~200ft) distance (16 times as loud as 70dB) 125-130dB: Military jet take-off with afterburner at 15m (50 ft) 150+db: gun fire at point blank

Yeah, but there's no passion not even in Baseball or American Football. You sing the national anthem and you're just Americans enjoying entertainment. We have feuds between towns that are 500 years old. Football isn't just a sport for Europeans, it's a strong connection to your local roots and a socio-cultural event. For example, my town is in a region that was historically discriminated against by the rest of Italy, I'm talking about beatings, racial slurs, and economic discrimination in the State itself. In 1969 the team of my town (which usually is the team cheered for by the people of my region), won the national championship, and it was considered by some sociologists one of the most assimilating moments for the people of my island Sardinia into the broader Italian culture.

Since I only saw comparisons between the US and Europe, I wonder how big football is in Australia actually and what the fans look down under. Actually, there is a video comparing NFL fans and european football (soccer) fans. There are videos even for basketball.

Having one or two beers is even better than eating hot dogs , fried chicken and fries. In europe we take a beer, for halftime a snack-whatever, and a second beer for the final time. It takes much too long time to get a beer, when the match is running. Some people think if it is going weird they have to go to the toilet and meanwhile the goal comes. It occurs but is not written by scientists😅

Europeans also do the same shit at basektball games. Once a US basektball team was playing in Germany, I forgot which one, but after being home they got interviewed. They stated that they felt threatened by all the noise the german fans made at a *basketball* game. They didn't expect it. A jounralist traveling with the US team also stated that during the entire game, he could feel the vibrations and noise the audience made through the entire game, something he'd expected from NFL, but not basketball.

Even to watch a game that's end's up with a 0 - 0 outcome can be better than a game with a lets say 4 - 1.

5:30 It might look scary when parts of the tribune are moving up and down, but that's for purpose. There are vibration dampers in the tribune. If the concrete was stiff at that point, it could break. You said you work in the construction business and recognized it correctly. The stadium you see is in Nürnberg. The stadium is quite old and they had to include this vibration dampers afterwards The European teams / fans you sea are Borussia Dortmund (Germany) at an away match in European cup, FC Cologne (Germany) home match, Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany), Jorthern Ireland Nationalteam during European Championship, AC Milan (Italy) at a home match, French Nationalteam in Marseille, Iceland Nationalteam during European Championship, Aris Salkoniki (Greece) at an away match in European Cup, Eintracht Franfkurt (Germany) home match, Ajax Amsterdam (Netherlands) before/after home match, Malmö FF (Sweden), Paris St.Germain (France) away match in European Cup, Romanian Nationalteam. To see the passion e.g. Eintracht Frankfurt had 18.000 away fans in Bordeaux (France) in the stadium in 2013/14 and estimated 30.000 Eintracht Fans were in the Nou Camp in Barcelona when Eintracht Frankfurt played against FC Barcelona in the Europe League 2021/22.

Heres my explanation on how deep rooted it is for us...Football across Europe Africa Asia and South America is tribal..we as men are inherently warriors.... we cant go to war the way we used to when we were all tribes, clans etc,so instead we use football to "go to war" with rival teams,,our tifos flags flares chants and songs are our battle displays ,and when we win its victory songs and chants,, and yeh the beers help to ramp up the atmosphere we make.. oh and we also support our football clubs at the same time 🤜🤛

They are really singing a whole songs. The song the 1. The German name of Cologne is Köln, and in the local dialect they call it "Kölle". "Oh FC Cologne, a whole life dedicated to the club; does not matter what happens, the red wall (club colour is red, meaning the fans wearing the red club shirts) stands behind you, does not move from your side, because she's here for you".

9:30 "FRAMÅT MALMÖ" "HEJA DI BLÅE" "FORWARD MALMÖ" "COME ON THE BLUES" Call and respond chant from the Most Champions of Sweden Malmö FF. That was away in the Uefa Euro League against Chelsea when 3500 Malmö fans were outsinging 36500 Chelsea fans away at Stamford Bridge. Our own home support is electrifying with megasize flags, big tifo displays and flares. We sing for 2 hours straight minus 15 minutes at half time break. Forever Skyblue/Himmelsblå 💙🤍⭐⭐🤍💙✊

4:40 Brooooo Its the entire time. We very much believe we are an extension of the club that represents us (has something to do the circumstance that most of these clubs are actually joinable which allows you to vote on the "board of directors" and thus have people in "power" that are standing for the same values you do). In germany the number 12 is discontinued at many clubs because "the fans" are the 12th man on the pitch - and even when it isnt offically out its highly discouraged to take it. I never gotten a lyric sheet but i know about 20-30 songs from the bottom of my heart that all have to do with my hometown club. And yes, those are full songs. Chanting funny stuff is often improv. And my hometown club is a bad, broke 3rd league (remember relegation and promotion) that barely manages to survive.

The passion is tribalism, its gone in many generations: You dont "pick" a team, you get born into one- You root for the team your parent(s) root for. Most people have a more passionate connection to their own team than for their national team for example

Difference between europe and US fan culture is that in US its just entertainment whereas in Europe its your roots, culture , poltical and religious views which are tied to the club you support and has been supported your father or grandfather.

8:25 The thing is, yeah you drink beer while at the stadium but thats not the reason you go full support. I think to realize what a football club means to the people in europe or south america you have to think of a thing you 100% identify with and which way you will 100% support no matter if times are good or bad. It pure history and identification with the history of your city, and the common goals and sorrows of the people around you. Here in germany clubs are fan owned (which means the sporting regulations (and by extensions some laws would to) prohibit any club to sell more than 49% of their shares - the rest stays with the fans) they really are community driven and stand for what you believe. We vote on the "board of directors" every few years (in a process very similar to our political elections) and fans turning on the leading personell can turn out pretty bad for them.
