I live in the southeast near Bread Beckers store. Sue Becker has used a WonderMill since the early 1990’s and had had no problems at all with any bugs getting in her WonderMill. I have had one for over a year and I have had zero problems s with any bugs getting into my WonderMill or that tube. I have a 1” wide pastry brush that I brush out the extra flour from the hole on the mill and from the tube after I am finished using it. I also tilt the canister and tap it against the counter which also helps whatever flour that is left in the tube after milling fall into the canister. Fruit flies have come into my kitchen from bananas and have never been attracted to my mill or the tube on the canister. The motor is anLG motor and is very powerful. You can grind grain in it all day long and you will not over work the motor. I would not let the ope hole and tube deter you from buying a Wonder Mill. The thing that attracts bugs to mills is mills with the stones for grinding. The stones are porous and the oils from the grains absorbs into the stones. The oil on the stones is what attracts bugs to go into the mills. The Wonder Mill does not have stones but stainless still pieces that grind the grains. The oils from the grain do not stick on the stainless steel. This factor is a huge reason why Sue Becker picked a Wonder Mill years ago instead of a stone ground mill. Her mother in law had a stone ground mill and Sues husband Brad was constantly having to clean the bugs out if his mother’s mill. The Bread Beckers have been selling the WonderMill for around 30 years now and less than 1% of the WonderMills have ever needed to be sent in for a repair.

I really appreciate this comment! Eases my mind for sure! I have since just left the holes open due to not thinking about it after milling and haven't had a problem either. I am liking my wondermill more and more as I use it.

Ma'am I was watching a cyberpunk video and this showed up in my feed as the next choice. In other words, I could not be further from your target audience. However, I knew nothing about countertop mills (is that a term?) and figured i owed it to my own edification to watch. A few thoughts... First, when you noted you mentioned to your husband you should get an extra mill in case the one you had broke down, and his response was something akin to, "i didn't think about that, great idea"--he's a gem. Having watched the entirety of your video, you're a gem too. Secondly, the only information i was curious about which you didnt provide was a brief "how to care for the filter" comment. I imagine you just run it under water and then let it dry, but again...i was watching a video game review for cyberpunk 2077 before this so my conjecture on such matters is folly at best. Lastly, and this is a point of critique that hardly matters...but...removing the crock pot or whatever it is from the background would give the video a cleaner look. It's like having a magic show with someone random guy off to the side staring at you the whole time. In any case, I have have liked and subscribed because you are a pleasure to watch and we are nothing if not plour accumulated knowledge...and I daresay I learned more watching your video than the one I was watching before.

This comparison was really reassuring to me, as I HAVE purchased the Nutrimill Classic, and had gone back and forth between it and the Wondermill, eventually landing on the Nutrimill. Now I'm glad I did, because I have a lot of fruit flies and wouldn't feel comfortable with the tube on the wondermill either. Thank you.

I have the Nutrimill and HAD a wonder mill which I liked but gave a way. I thought I wouldn’t use it again because I was going through a very bad time and just couldn’t see my way through. BUT I did survive and decided I missed making bread so a friend had the nutrimill and recommended it. I love it. The other con to it for me though is - I have a heck of a time getting the cover on and off. I think it’s a good thing that it is so tight - but I literally have to coat the rubber casing around the the edge of the top with Rye flour to get it to move into place. One day I felt like I was wrestling with it and my husband had a good laugh.😁. I’m used to it now though and it’s not so much of a big deal. I store mine in my closet/pantry on top of my grain bin and that works awesome too. Thank you for a very informative video. I’m addicted to making bread and since I have been grinding my own grain - my husband’s IBS is 100% gone and the arthritis pain I had in my left hip which was debilitating - is also gone. Go figure! The health benefits of this flour are worth every penny and little inconveniences that it may pose. Thank you again!

But, I do live in an apartment, and like you, with the WonderMill I don't like the idea of the grain dust being available to entice any pests, if you know what I mean.Your paper towel idea is a good one and if I purchase that machine I will utilize your tip. Thanks. I've been going round and round with this and I am going to go with the Wondermill and just grind when she's awake, haha. (It's already that way when I use with the blender, so no big change there!) Plus, I realized that I DO have a place for the Wondermill to be stored as long as I put the container bowl atop it when not using it. It's been hard to decide to get a grain mill at all since the Blendtec has been working well for me, but the main reason that tipped me over to getting one is that I will like to be able to make large amounts to give away -- whether at church or otherwise. And the Wondermill's price and simplicity as well as ability to do a lot and fast won me over. Gettin' ready to tighten my belt big-time for this purchase -- and so excited to do it...! @@TheRoseHomestead

So either one would be an asset. I have problems with my fingers and wonder which would cause more pain trying to lift off the lids. I was leaning toward the Wondermill but have that question now. I just got my wheat berries and sunflower lecithin. I did buy a small coffee grinder to get started but recently had surgery on my fingers and can’t begin yet! So frustrating. I would appreciate any info on which mill would be easier on my hands. Thank you for the demonstration. ❤

Well, if you will have problems with the lids the other option is the Nutrimill Harvest. It's a stone mill. It is a bit more expensive but you will have no problems using it with your hand problem. Here is a couple of videos I did on that particular mill. Otherwise, if I had to say one was harder than the other to get the lid off, I would say the Wonder mill was a bit harder to pull the lid off at first but it loosened up over time. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hplomqx5rJPTcWg.html and kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z52VpMJqm5ndfGg.html

I have had the whispermill, now the wondermill, for over 24 years. I have had no problems, except if a bay leaf from my grains plugs up the hole and I have to shut off, turn upside down, and knock out the leaf or leaves. I had watched a comparison years ago where they tested the two side by side milling grains till one quit, the nutrimill died first and the whispermill kept going so long they finally just had to turn it off. That's not to say it's the same since they were bought out. I do like the looks of the nutrimill better.

I would say they are very similar. I do think the wondermill may have a bit less fine flour but not much less. Hope that helps!

I trying to figure out which would put less fine dust in air or on counter top when milling. So hopefully I asked that correctly? So you think the Wonder Mill may do a little less than the other?

Have you ever ground corn in the wondermill or Nutrimill?

I grind popcorn often, and it comes out great. I've never ground dent corn but know others that do, and it works wonderfully. The only thing to make sure of is that it is completely dried out.

I just got my nutrimill and I can’t get it to go in to the yes. Yes, I did spew flour all over my kitchen. I’ve pushed and pushed and it doesn’t click or show yes. Any clues? I’m totally frustrated.

Is there any way you can send me pics of your bowl and of the inside of the grain mill before you put the bowl inside to my facebook page? Just go to facebook and search the rose homestead and send me a message. I'm sure we can figure this out.

Cost? NutriMill less expensive

The nutrimill is usually about 20 dollars less expensive than the wondermill and I have a coupon code for another 20 off as well.

Do you have that coupon for Amazon? I think you’d say the nutrimill is better? I don’t like those 2 parts for the other, nutrimill’s one piece seems simpler I guess. I’m ready to buy a mill today.

Wish I had seen this video earlier. I made the mistake of buying a Mockmill 200 and really am not happy with it. The flour comes out extremely hot if we try to grind it fine and having to constantly run rice through it to clean the stones plus disassemble after each use to clean the pocket around the stones. Plus having to adjust it till the stones hit for a fine grind makes me wonder what could be going into the flour. It's also slow, takes a couple minutes to grind 2 cups if hard red. Thinking about trying the wonder mill now. Thanks for the video.

I am glad I went with the impact mill. I have a stone mill coming to review for the channel and compare to the impact one. I love how easy the impact mills are.
