I always through that our Pearl wasn’t a pink pearl but was made by the diamonds. Her designs is not just pink, but white, yellow and blue. Her skin is white, the others diamonds pearls skin is the a really light blue or yellow colour. She dress is yellow and blue clothes, while none of the other pearls “stray” from her master colour. So, if the theory is correct, and she actually been customise by the other diamonds for keeping Pink more in check. And we can even see in which way! White made her organised and elegant. Blue made her emphatic and caring. Yellow made her strong and able to fight.

After watching the movie I kind of thought this: Pink Diamond thought of Spinell as a toy or just a brainless gem specifically designed to like her. She probably thought of Spinell as an embodiment of all her childish flaws and was secretly annoyed and angry with her. She knew that if she wanted a colony (which to her would mean to be respected as a true Diamond) she would have to leave all her childish behavior and her "toy" behind. It kind of explains why she could leave Spinell so easily. She may have liked her at first but you can see the tiredness in her eyes after a while and the slight frustration and anger at Spinell/ her childish self. I also thought that this is why she didn't fall in love with our pearl; she knew pearl was free but knew deep down that pearl was designed to at the very least respect/ care for her and that any feelings our pearl would have for her would stem from that, which would cause Pink Diamond to not completely trust her feelings. (And now that I think on it , is probably why she fell for Greg who not only isn't programmed, but also teaches her about love.) Sorry that was so long, I just needed to get that out my head finally. I figure that the scar that Pink Pearl got was from Pink Diamond, when it happened White Diamond scolded her, Pink Pearl was permanently ostracized for her scratch, Looking down on Pink Diamond for recklessness and injury of Pink Pearl, White Diamond fixed it by giving her a new Pearl, permanently changed from seeking fun. I think Pearl is actually White’s Pearl. If she wasn’t around Pink, then Pearl would be extremely uptight about the rules and perfection, a lot like how White is. Blue and Yellow both have pearls that are physically and mentally similar to them, and White is clearly missing a Pearl, so it’s only make sense that our Pearl was White’s.

This theory makes total sense. After the diamonds realized Pink's playful habits weren't going to go away, they gave her the garden as a temporary solution. I assume that once she got the colony she wanted so much she decided to not be so playful and take things more seriously, deciding to leave Spinnel, and not finding it much of a difficult decision since it was an artificial relationship in the first place. Still gotta feel bad for her though, she accidentally scars her best friend so White decides to take over her body. Im super curious to know what the hell exactly happened though, as of now we know of nothing that can scar a gem without damaging the gemstone. There are essentially two Pink Diamonds, who existed at different times although having the same gemstone: Bratty Pink, and "Rose Quartz". Something happened to PD that changed her from an impulsive, violent entity with the mind of a six-year-old human, to one with the intelligence and conscience strong enough to wage a successful rebellion to protect this planet and its inhabitants. From the episode "Volleyball", we now know that Pink Pearl was permanently scarred by a force blast from Pink, done out of venting at the Diamonds in her frustration but which caught Pink Pearl inadvertently. From Steven's Homeworld dream we know that Pink Pearl and her mistress had no problems between each other, so that Pink Pearl was willing to help PD keep her un-Diamond-like pastimes concealed from Yellow Diamond's spying. This sort "bad behavior" was probably the reason that Pink Pearl was taken away from PD. Our Pearl only knew the more mature and self-controlled version of Pink Diamond, the form that was the result of PD's upgrade. Ironically, that upgrade proved counter-productive as far as the Diamond Authority was concerned, because while they got rid of an imbecile of a Diamond, they unwittingly replaced her with one capable of turning against them and their entire social order. I find it difficult to believe that Spinel was added to Pink's court after the upgrade, when Pink was expected to play her part as a full member of the Diamond Authority. Perhaps Pink knew that Spinel was always going to be more loyal to the Diamond Authority than to her personally...why she wasn't taken away as Pink Pearl was...and that may have been a major reason Pink didn't want her on Earth, whether before she conceived the idea of rebellion or after. From TA and ASPR, we see that Pink Diamond had in succession two Pearls whom she trusted implicitly, and their loyalty was and is steadfast.

Wow that does make perfect sense to why Pink Diamond left Spinel in the garden. Pink could only play with Spinel in that garden so when she left to go colonize earth I don't think she knew she wasn't coming back. Woooow okay.

I think there’s a reason why Pearl had all the colors of the diamonds. I think she was modeled after all of the other Diamonds. Yellow, Pearl’s sense of structure, Blue, Pearl’s care for pleasing Pink and wanting to be there for her, and White, Pearl’s strive for perfection and order.

I’ve always been confused why Pearls Homeworld outfit had Pink, Yellow, and blue. She had a white gem, and whiter skin tone. I was always confused because even though I knew she was a replacement, I was confused that white diamond didn’t have a default pearl, and pearl wasn’t pink at all. This clears it up

I used to think that Pearl was white diamond's pearl and when Pink diamond "broke" her pink pearl they switched pearls, as a way for white diamond to have more control over pink diamond. Since she knew that her pearl was well behaved and very attached to detail and had some experience in building colonies she also thought that it would help pink not to fail in her task. Obviously I was wrong, since it was said that pearl was tailor made for Pink diamond, but I like my theory nonetheless.

Can we talk about how pink pearl had a gem on her stomach like pink so she theoretically also thought “with her gut” whereas Pearl’s gem is on her head so she would be more level headed.

I think what probably happened has been hinted at in a few places in the series. Remember when Steven was talking to Yellow Pearl in Pink Diamond's room and kept playing around with what she was calling him, and Pearl interrupted with "Stop that. You'll break her."? This suggests that Pearls can be broken if handled too carelessly. Pearls are made to be obedient servants. That's what they're programmed to do. You know what else was made to be obedient and give its owner their every want? Rose's Room in the temple. Remember when Steven brought Connie in there and shenanigans made him hang out with a fake Connie that he accidentally broke by telling her to stop doing what he wants? I think something similar to that might've happened to Pink Pearl. Pink Diamond was way too careless in how she managed her Pearl, to the place where she ended up accidentally breaking her. Which, if she was truly friends with her Pearl like this suggests, would've completely broken her heart. White Diamond finds out that Pink has broken her Pearl, takes Pink Pearl away (and keeps her T-posed forever after) and replaces her with a new Pearl. This one, either is activated under the supervision of the other Diamonds so they make sure she's formed with only the default settings. OR Pink Diamond, not wanting to repeat what happened with her old Pearl, opted not to customize her. Leaving all the default settings. She doesn't make the same personal connection with this Pearl, or any other gem for that matter. She still needs a playmate tho, so that's how she got Spinel. The rest is history.

Pink had a temper tantrum, causing pearl to get hurt, the diamonds thought they had to replace her because she wasn’t perfect, and wanted to replace her with a perfect pearl that would obey pink. But that’s just my theory

A lil kinda cool thing i noticed during my watch of the movie is that Spinel is more of a 'monkey see monkey do' person. In the scene when the gems reform Steven shakes Spinel in anger and then she does it back, after the song We are the crystal gems Spinel copies the line that Steven sang at first "Here we are in the future and it's bad". In the song No matter what after Amethyst turns back to normal, Steven hugs Amethyst and Spinel joins in. Spinel even juggled the way Pink diamond did for her pink pearl, so i think there may be some details hidden too of how she learned how to be 'her' and her when her heart is upside down. So maybe she copied something else from someone, i don't know fully but yeah. Dere ya go~

Seeing the way Spinel reacted whenever Steven tried separating himself from her, I can't help wondering how she would have reacted it Pink told her that play time was over 6000 years ago. So many want to condemn Pink for the choices she made. But few consider what the alternatives were to those choices. Yes, she bubbled Bismuth for thousands of years. But the alternative would have been shattering her. And Pink wasn't willing to do that. And yes, she kept the truth of that from the others. But the alternative was finding out how many others shared Bismuth's 'Eye for an eye, let's shatter ( re: kill) all upper class gems' philosophy. Hey, if you think I'm exaggerating, rewatch the 'Bismuth' episode, and pay attention to the way she speaks. She might as well have quoted from 'The Communist Manifesto '. Always talking about tearing down the upper crust system. The difference between Pink's goals and Bismuth's goals, was Pink wanted *independence* for Earthworld gems. Bismuth wanted a *revolution* . Pink's actions were *for* Earth gems, and all lower class gems. Bismuth's were *against* the upper crust gems. Especially Diamonds. And she wasn't going to let anyone stop her. Not even Rose. Everything pointed to Bismuth willing to use the Breaking Point to shatter Pink Diamond (a.k.a Rose). But Rose (a.k.a. Pink Diamond) wasn't willing to shatter Bismuth. Yet *Rose* is considered the villain in this scenario? (I know I wandered a little off-base. But I think I made my point).

i dont think the Diamonds customized Pearl at all. I think she was just a fancy Pearl. Right before she boots up in the movie she says her Default Settings were chosen. When she reforms she's in the same outfit we saw her in and had her default personality while she was Pink Ds Pearl. I think Pink could have changed her settings but didnt bother and just used her in her default form especially after the trauma of losing her first Pearl

My theory is that the reason why there’s a (3) in the song was because yeah that was pearls 3rd reboot but I think that her first reboot was for white diamond it makes sense because she has her gemstone on her forehead and white diamond has her gemstone on her forehead too then the 2nd time she got rebooted was for the trading of pink pearl and pearl I think white used the rejuvenator to wipe pearls memory so she can be given to pink entirely new and white diamond just used her mind control powers instead of using the rejuvenator on pink pearl. Then pearls last and final reboot was when spinel used the rejuvenator on her. Makes sense huh 1st she was made for white, 2nd she was made for pink, and the 3rd time she was made for “Greg” so it makes sense now.

One thing I noticed is that rebooted Pearl was her "default" setting. Personally, I took this to relate to her appearance, explaining her multi-colored outfit - without a designated customization, she defaults to representing gem society as a whole, and the prestige that goes along with owning a pearl (she is a fancy one, after all). Alternatively, the mixed colors could relate to the idea that she was a joint effort from all the other diamonds to make a new pearl for Pink, but either way, I think it relates to this theory in an interesting way: she's a pearl that was made for Pink Diamond, but she's not a Pink Pearl. The dissonance is there all the way down to her color scheme.

The reason why pink left spinel was because spinel was mainly programmed to entertain pink, but what pink really wanted was someone to share a deep emotional connection to. We see this in how pink is deeply fascinated by humans and how they are able to grow with complex emotions driving them and changing their identity from year after year. She sees this and loves everyone who is full of growth and passion. But with spinel, spinel never changed, never matured or shared a deep side to her, and was on a one track mind full of entertainment and fun, and that was not fulfilling to pink since she wanted something more, something deep. And thats why she left spinel and tricked her. It was because pink felt she would never change, and so she wanted to start a new beginning and leave the past with spinel behind because she feared it would affect how ppl perceived pink and judge her to be immature. With that said, i still think pink is a jerk for doing that. But everyone can relate that they have been with someone who just keeps up the same persona for years. Its like a 60 year old being with a 10 year old that never changed. And that can be very unfulfilling ina sense that they are two different ppl with different goals in mind.

i always assumed the original Pink Pearl was considered "defective", considering the reason why White Diamond "corrupted" the Crystal Gems was to "remove all their flaws", and was replaced by the current Pink Pearl, aka our Pearl. it's entirely possible that Pink Diamond befriended Pink Pearl, but, as i said, i feel like it's less along the lines of they were too similar and more along the lines of their relationship being "inappropriate". these are the very same Diamonds after all that locked Pink Diamond into seclusion for stepping out of line, was against fusing between different Gem types, and would hunt down and shatter Off-Colors just for being, well, off color and being defective in their eyes because of that. even in the movie, note how in "system/BOOT.PearlFinal (3).Info" Pearl, explaining about our Amethyst, states Amethysts are meant to be "big and strong" and that our Amethyst "is not the best example", that "something is very wrong" because our Amethyst is very short and frail-looking. this is also evident how, once again, Amethyst is insulted by Jasper during their few encounters w/ Jasper calling her weak just because she "came out wrong". whether or not Pink Pearl was in fact "defective" (acting differently than a Pearl actually should: subservient, reserved and mostly silent) is unknown and debatable, but, given the flashback-like dream sequence Steven had, it is a certainty Pink Diamond and Pink Pearl were close. either as punishment or merely a decision made by the other Diamonds, Pink Pearl was taken from Pink Diamond and replaced w/ our Pearl. i do agree that the reason why Spinel was created was likely tied to the incident of replacing the original Pink Pearl w/ a new one and the Diamonds feeling somewhat guilty since no doubt Pink Diamond was upset and lonely. then, w/ the whole incident that we see unfolding during "Drift Away", Pink Diamond either over time matured to some degree, got bored w/ Spinel and/or became distant w/ Spinel when she realized Spinel's existence was just another means of keeping her in line, which led to her abandoning Spinel when she was at last given a colony of her own

I think it's really interesting that pearls are supposed to be the color of their diamond, and Pearl is the color of all the diamonds. She has yellow, blue, white, and pink colors to her. Is almost as if she's made up of traits of all four diamonds both physically and mentally.

Okay but she tells Garnet not to "question it" and she never says a question after that... long after she's gone. I think maybe Pink can issue commands (perhaps even without realizing they are commands) to more than just her Pearl(s).

I think what she was alluding to was when pearl got her memories back and is reforming. Her gem goes back in and blinks before cycling through her forms. I think that's when the diamonds called pink to give her the earth.

Remember when Pink Diamond tired to have a side conversation with Pearl about Controlling a Colony. Then Pink Diamond was unsatisfied by Pearl’s response. Only in later season Pearl started doing the things she wants

Adding to the theory a little -- I think our Pearl was given to Pink after she (Pearl) was slightly infused with qualities of all the other Diamonds (like Blue's compassion, Yellow's adherence to rules, and White's perfection-seeking.) That would make her more like the ideal servant she was meant to be. And that's why our Pearl's original outfit has all 4 Diamond colors in it rather than just being pure pink.

Interesting to notice that the diamonds and the original pearls have their gems in the same places. I think that White and Pink swapped pearls. That’s why our Pearl was reset. Besides, seeing White’s control over her Pearl might mean that there’s no memory.

I always saw Spinel being viewed by Pink as perhaps more of like a toy or jester than a person or friend. In time she simply grew tired of the same routine or the toys tricks. With the gaining of her colony and wanting to be viewed as an adult by the other diamonds she left Spinel behind I think as a sort of gesture of leaving childish things behind to be responsible for the colony and taken more seriously. Never anticipating on how things would go.

I still think white diamond GAVE AWAY her pearl (our pearl) to pink diamond

This still doesn’t explain why pearl had already been rebooted one or two times. If she was made and customised for pink diamond, she should have emerged with her standard settings. She must have done something to get a first or second reboot. Otherwise, it wouldn’t explain why she went through her second/third reboot in the movie . There must have been a Pearl.0 or a Pearl.1. Also I’d be very curious to see her other settings

Honestly, I always thought Pink Diamond left Spinel because she didn't think she was gonna be taken serious since she had a colony now as long as she had Spinel.
