The first two scenes featuring Lionel Tribey from the west wing. A character who definately should have came back for future episodes.

That final joke "...or there would be very little reason not to put him in prison" is just the kind of wit that makes the West Wing great.

Slinging the bat over his shoulder as he barely regains control and manages to be civil is the funniest part to me

It is a crying shame we only got about half a season's worth of Lionel Tribey.

"I - WILL - KILL people today Leo, I will kill people with THIS cricket bat...." Possibly the best character introduction on this show. Masterful set-up and execution.

I loved when this aired! I remember how hard I laughed, how much I liked it when he burst in on Leo, the president, and later stood up to those White House staffers.
@Branes5111 жыл бұрын
All the early scenes with Ainsley were hilarious. The one where she thinks Leo's closet is a bathroom is classic. And Bartlett's comment just made it incredibly funny. Amazingly enough, the show wasn't a comedy, per se, but had some of the most deadpan funny one liners. The episode where CJ got a "woot cannow" made me almost pass out I laughed so hard.

I love that John Laroquette still had that Dan Fielding-like head-lowering of submission.... Yet, maintained his position of strength..And humor. Just fantastic.

This whole video and all the scenes are brilliant, but you're absolutely right....the final punctuation point of that line is what makes this quintessentially West Wing and just perfect.

This show has some great supporting characters like Ainsley, Lionel Tribey, Oliver Babish, Amy Gardner, Ron Butterfield, Fitzwallace and Bruno Gianelli. Some of them should have had bigger parts.

Anyone notice that both Babish and Tribbey were about to take a vacation when we meet them or did I miss a scene?
@ari96387 жыл бұрын
The Babish scene was written for Tribbey. It was supposed to be a running joke that Tribbey was always interrupted before a vacation. But the actor couldn't come back for some reason so they rewrote the scene for Babish. Everytime we see Babish he is also about to go on vacation but is interrupted.

"They " being Secret Service would not let him walk around with a cricket bat, especially saying he is going kill people with it and getting inside the Oval Office, let alone near POTUS. Secret Service always follows POTUS and hear everything.
@chriswoo22892 жыл бұрын
On one hand, you could be right. Long reach, a visible and audible lack of stability in temperament would make Tribby worrisome to the Secret Service But, don't forget that they will have extensive psychological profiles that would tell them. "Watch our for t the Bat, but he would NEVER swing it in the direction of the president. Tribby rates too high on any Loyalty measured

How is a guy waving about a cricket bat and yelling for blood allowed anywhere near the White House, much less threatening the Chief of Staff in a room adjoining the Oval Office? And then allowing him to barge in? No wonder the Secret Service allowed two assassination attempts and a kidnapping to happen.
