CS:GO was never meant to become as big as it did. It was the last gasp of a dying franchise filled with cheaters and built on a broken, outdated engine and yet it became the most important and enduring shooter in the history of modern esports. So in this documentary, we will celebrate and take one final, nostalgic look back at its most iconic moments.

One thing this video really demonstrates is how phenomenal the casters are in CS. Hard to imagine a video this good being made for most esports because the hype plays don't always have hype commentary.
@regretfulcurve

Some of these commentaries I can recite word for word just because of the emotion and impact they have. Casters are a huge part of hyping the crowd while also providing feedback of what's happening on the game. I've watched Valorant esports, and I'm just disappointed at how quiet the casters are for huge opening or kills.

At 40, I've spent thousands of hours enjoying Counter-Strike since 2001, even playing professionally from 2005-2008 alongside Belgium's finest. I took a break just before the CS:GO era but have recently reconnected with the game through my two young sons, now delving into CS2. As a father, coaching them has been a way to relive my prime years. Counter-Strike remains an unparalleled game to me. Its beauty lies in its simplicity - no fanciful characters or surreal elements, just a straightforward battle of wits and skills, with two teams and a C4. It's a testament to the timeless appeal of Counter-Strike's gameplay. Watching 'The Most ICONIC Moments in CS:GO History' documentary, I’m filled with excitement for the future of this phenomenal game. Here's to many more years of enjoying Counter-Strike!

I never realized that in the 4 awps play, out of 5 members of fnatic the only one not wielding an awp is their fricking awper, JW. It was probably spawn-based since we see him rushing B but still, it makes the clip even more BM.

What wasn't said in the 9hp Zywoo Ace is that Zywoo took a speed nap between matches right before the ace, this was possible because Vitality was trying a 6 man roster at the moment, trying what Astralis started doing because some of its players were burnout and took a break.

Really great production. Well edited, contextualised highlights like this are more common in older sports, it's cool to see folks in this space experimenting with that. Nailing the fact that "iconic" moments are not always the most skill expressive. Sometimes something almost entirely random, at the right time and the right place can be so much more iconic.

I haven't really watched any eSports since... before COVID, like 2016. Simply lost interest in it. So when I came back to League of Legends of all games, I was shocked by how... structured? and artificial, sterile even, the eSports events felt like. Immense production value, gigantic crowds... but all of it felt wrong. Boring. Same-ish. And not to insult anyone but even the players and casters themselves felt corporate. So watching this video, including moments from after I stopped following the scene, I finally knew why I felt like that. CS:GO was just different. The crowd is wild. The players are actual humans. The casters don't hold back. It's all so goddamn authentic - and I love it for that. I really hope that never changes.

I think what separates ChrisJ's ace apart from the arguably more iconic jumping and falling awps of Cold and Simple is just how much of the result is purely from his positioning, awareness & skill, whereas the other two as far more dramatic random chances of no-scopes and collateral

Fell in love with eSports since I watched how the C9 won the Boston 2018 Major and it is one the best inspirations why I am competing in esports right now. Hopefully I'll get to experience that one day as well.

the krakow 2017 major will forever be one of my absolute favourites. watching the hole zeus being kicked and then leading gambit with sheer force of will to a major victory live was one of the best times watching pro cs for me

Seeing that the cadiaN clutch was in 2021 really reminds me how time flies.. 3 years already since that play happened and it still feels like he did that yesterday
