What makes this for me is the lack of "right" equipment and resources. Watching you smear olive oil because you don't have spray...using olive oil because you don't have neutral...faking the fork....all this encourages me that I don't have do it "right", just do it! Thanks for a terrific vid.

My grandma tried to teach me that growing up. I ignored that advice as a young adult, as she tended to be a neat freak and it annoyed me... Ended up not cooking for a long time, as I dreaded the pile of dishes and mess to clean in the a.m. Then I started working in kitchens, and learned real fast that she was right. Now I'm religious about clean-as-you go, and get hella annoyed at coworkers and roomates that don't do the same. Tldr: your mom/ grandma was right, listen to her 😂

When I was young we had a neighbor with a small child who reached up and grabbed the handle of a pot of boiling water on the stove and flipped it onto herself. She was too young to know much better but she ended up severely burning majority of her body and will live with the disfigurement for the rest of her life. It was heartbreaking and to this day, even though I don’t have children, I never leave a pot handle sticking out.

I skipped through the video and noticed the lack of flavour in most dishes. The pasta sauce will be far better by adding a combination of olives, capers, and dried chilli flakes. The noodles need oyster sauce (and veggies were over-cooked). Etc.

Fresh Tomato Marinara Pasta Ingredients: 16 ounces of the pasta of your choice 1 onion, diced 2 cloves of garlic, sliced 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil Pinch of salt 2 pints of cherry tomatoes ¼ cup of shredded parmesan cheese ¼ cup of roughly chopped parsley Instructions: Bring a salted pot of water to a boil as well as bring a wide saute pan to a medium heat. Add oil to the wide saute pan. Once it starts to shimmer, add in the chopped onion and garlic. When the garlic and onion soften a bit, approx 2 - 3 minutes, add in the cherry tomatoes and top it with the lid. When the water is boiling add in the pasta. Once the tomatoes are starting to burst, grab a spatula and mash the tomatoes to release the juices. Turn the heat to low, sprinkle in some more salt, and let reduce. Drain the pasta and add it to the tomato sauce. Pour in ¼ cup of pasta water and toss. Let the sauce reduce and add in the parmesan cheese. Toss is the parsley along with a little more water and crack of pepper. Bacon & Veggie Quesadilla Ingredients: 2 flour tortilla 4 strips of bacon, sliced into chunks 1 tomato, sliced ½ cup of fresh mozzarella ¼ cup of spicy gouda 1 cup of spinach Instructions: Heat a large saute pan on medium heat. Drop in the bacon and let that sizzle away. Once there is enough heat, tilt the pan to “deep fry” the bacon pieces. Take the bacon out and pour out 80% of the fat into a bowl or cup. With the leftover fat in the pan, add in your spinach and let it wilt away. In the meantime, prepare the quesadillas. Add mozzarella to the bottom, followed by crispy bacon, the wilted spinach, 2 -3 tomato slices, and some spicy gouda. Fold over and squish. Pour the reserved fat back into the saute pan and place the quesadilla down. Get one side coated in oil before flipping to coat the otherside in fat. Fry until golden brown and crispy. While it fries up you can make some avocado crema sauce to go with it or clean up the kitchen a little. Flip and crispify the other side. Cut in pieces and enjoy! Avocado Cream Ingredients: 1 cup of chopped cilantro (with stems) 1/3 cup of yogurt 1 Avocado 1 clove of garlic Juice of 1 lime Salt and pepper Water if needed to thin out Instructions: In a food processor, add in chopped cilantro with stems, yogurt, avocado, a garlic clove, juice of a lime, salt, and pepper. Blitz until smooth. Drizzle in some water to thin out the sauce. Pour into a container and store in the fridge until ready to use. Thai Noodle Dish Ingredients: 1 -2 tablespoons of neutral oil 1 onion, sliced 1 red pepper, sliced 1 clove of garlic, roughly chopped 1 knob of ginge, roughly chopped ½ cup of bok choy 2 eggs 1 package of rice noodles 1 teaspoon of sesame oil 1 teaspoon of rice vinegar 1 tablespoon of soy sauce 1 teaspoon of fish sauce 1 tablespoon of water A few leaves of basil Instructions: In a medium saute pan, add in 1 - 2 tablespoons of oil. Once it starts to shimmer add in the onion and pepper. Let soften for 1 - 2 minutes before adding in the chopped garlic and ginger. Cook for another 1 - 2 minutes. Push all the veggies to one side. Drizzle in some more oil, and crack in the eggs. Poke the yolk and let one side fry up. Flip to fry the other side and break up the eggs. Combine with the veggies. Drop in the rice noodles and hit it with sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, fish sauce, and water. Toss to combine and soften up the noodles. Toss in a few sprigs of basil and serve it! Chicken Wings & Salad Ingredients: 12 chicken wings 2 tablespoons of flour 1 tablespoons of your favorite spice mix Pinch of salt A little bit of oil 1 tablespoon of lemon juice 2 teaspoon of maple syrup 1 teaspoon of dijon mustard Salt and pepper 2 -3 tablespoons of olive oil ¼ cup of red onion, sliced 1 - 2 radishes, sliced ¼ cup of chopped tomatoes 1 cup of gem lettuce, ripped Instructions: In a bowl, add in the chicken wings with the flour, spice mix, and salt. Toss to combine and place into an air fryer. Spray with some oil and air fry at 380 for 15 minutes. While the chicken wings are cooking, grab a big bowl and add in lemon juice, maple syrup, mustard, salt and pepper. Drizzle in some olive oil while vigorously whisking until you get a nice mustard vinaigrette. Then add in the sliced onion and radish along with tomatoes and gem lettuce. Toss to combine and serve with the hot crispy wings!

One of the best and easiest ways to cook is the oven. Americans way under utilize ovens. I am a chef and use it just about daily. Sheet pans and parchment paper are your friends. You don't have to constantly watch like a stove. For a curry, I'd just throw all veg on a sheet pan with some fat, roast off. Do sauce separate and toss together. Oven cooking is perfect for those who don't like to cook or beginners.

What the above person said, baked dishes are super low effort and hard to mess up, and create less mess. Also... 1. clean as you go, because leaving a mess for the morning will make you stop wanting to cook real fast 2. Learn how to multitask and what order to start the meal, it'll help cut down cooking time so it doesn't seem like such an effort. This takes practice and some basic cooking knowledge, so best to start with meals that dont have a lot of separate steps 3. Start with really basic meals like omlettes, meat and veggies, stews, casseroles, etc. Dont try and be fancy, start with the basics like how to season and cook a good steak or chicken thigh 4. Choose forgiving meats and veggies (chicken thighs or legs are harder to make dry than breasts for example, asparagus is really easy to overcook but not squash, etc.) 5. Never cook on high as a beginner, youll just burn shit. Medium high is the most you need as a beginner (for searing thin meats and veggies quickly). Use mainly medium on stove top (or 350 in an oven). Low (2-4 stovetop) is good for soups and things that need to simmer for awhile. 6. And most importantly, if you mess up and make a bad meal, just try again another day. Like all things it takes practice, view mistakes are a learning opportunity instead of a failure! Sorry it's so long, hope this helps someone, coming from someone that used to hate to cook, and now does it for a living and at home =)

@David Davidson Most these convert to GF pretty easily. For pasta, gf noodles are common in stores now, same isle. For quesadilla, use corn tortillas. For stir fry, he's using rice noodles already, and you can use tamari instead of soy sauce (near identical flavor, next to soy sauce at store.) For wings, use a gf flour blend (usually special gf isle) and add tsp of baking powder to help with crispyness. I get it though, finding gf recipes and learning the substitutions can be hard af.

I’ve been binging on your quick meal and freezable meal videos. I am disabled and cannot stand long in the kitchen while cooking without being in pain. These recipes are a lifesaver along with the freezable meal videos as they also help save time and don’t require me to stand for long periods of time everyday. A lot of us need to save time, some of us need to save ourselves and our bodies. Thank you so much. You have no idea how much videos like this make it easier. I appreciate you from the bottom of my heart. Have a great day! 🥰❤️

The very best pasta dish I ever had was a simple spaghetti bolognese I had in an upstairs restaurant right next to the train station in Rome back in 1990. Halfway through I thought... I hope they take credit cards. They didn't!! It was a family operation, the women cooked and the men were front of house. I used my high school italian to ask 'domani'? Meaning I would pay the next day. They waved us away indicating yes, and then asked if we wanted anything else to eat that night! Amazing. Next day we went back and paid. They took it as normal, not overly effusive or anything. I have never forgotten their commitment to their food and belief in us and also (I imagine) their capacity to write off those who don't come back to pay.) Back to business, I have often wondered why that dish was better than anything I had had in Australia. Now I know, it was using the pasta water.

Been doing the pasta for years, and got it down to 10 mins. My tips: 1) Fill your kettle & boil. It's faster than boiling a full pan of water. While the kettle is boiling have your pasta pan preheating with a enough water just to cover the bottom. 2) While kettle is boiling & pans preheating, quickly dice onion & garlic. If you have a hand held pulley dicer $8 from Kmart, it makes it really quick & easy. 3) I use a passata base, or tin of diced tomatoes. Some tinned tomato already come with herbs & nothing else added - always check the ingredients, some have added salt. Passata or tinned tomato are also already broken down. Obviously not as yummy as cherry tomatoes, but where I live, cherry tomatoes are $$ and you can keep toned tomatoes/passata in the cupboard for using anytime. 😇 Say no to pasta sauce in a jar people!

I used to meal prep and end up spending about $50 or so for two weeks worth of lunch. Crock pots are the best thing I found when it boils down to time management to cook. I just throw chicken (bone in preferred), veggies of your choice, and season it. After I can throw it on top of some rice or pasta and adjust the pallet accordingly and pack it all up in the containers. Sides I'd cheat with though and use canned goods like baked beans and some sort of greens (collards, mixed turnips, so on) but still it turned out really good.

Loved this video! I’ve been struggling with making meals because they either take too long after I get home from work, or I just don’t want to cook the same things over and over again. Would love to see another one of these types of videos! Thanks!
