You are likely right about Quercetin and Turmeric. Quercetin is known to thin blood and Turmeric will bind iron in the blood and also thin the blood. Other supplements that lower BP a little are Cod Liver Oil, Fish Oil, Vit D3, Magnesium, Pine Bark Extract, Arginine/Ornithine combo, Vinpocetine and Grape Seed Extract.

Turmeric is also a natural diuretic so that’s definitely going to deplete electrolytes and that will also affect BP.

Blood pressure is at its highest in the mornings and Oxford University research has shown exercise in the morning is not ideal and has not reduced blood pressure, but excercise in the afternoon like 1pm till late afternoon around 5pm gave reduction in blood pressure in the mornings which is the highest risk time for deaths and accidents in the day as people tend to be more stressed too . The wanted to figure out why people died between 8am and 11am more and found out most people blood pressure was higher in the morning and stress levels too which is a dangerous combo! So they said people should take it easy in the mornings and reduce stress, workout in the afternoon and ideally eat their main heavy meals early before evening.

Your description of symptomatic episodes are classic electrolyte depletion. This happened to me daily after starting a ketogenic lifestyle 11 months ago. Like you I assumed BP or hydration issues, but realized it may be a salt deficiency after reviewing the symptoms. Now I routinely ingest about a teaspoon of salt over the course of a day. Blood tests show normal sodium levels and the BP issues stabilized. Most people I mentioned this to are astonished. Glad to see you settling in the new place and the fire pit looks terrific

Thank you so much for sharing this! How's it going being keto? I think this could possibly be another part of this issue I've had. To me, it's probably not just one thing (ie: these supplements) causing problems. And, I've gone lower and lower carb over the last couple of years - but especially over the last year. For many days I am under 10g of carbs - though sometimes I splurge and have more than that every couple of weeks. I know this is weird, but for a long time I didn't even realize I was keto - so I wasn't adding enough salt. I have gotten a bit better with that. I will definitely keep this in mind and focus more on doing that consistently! So thank you!

@@LifeDIY Agree with Seattle Six. I used to often feel like I was going to faint or black out when standing up. That stopped once I started taking around a teaspoon of salt spread throughout the day. I start every day with 1/2 teaspoon first thing in the morning. I just place it on my tongue and quickly wash it down with 16 oz of water. Just make sure its a quality salt. "What I've Learned" channel has a good video on salt in the human diet.

Turmeric and Quercetin both lower free copper levels. An elevated free copper causes high blood pressure, according to a now deceased biochemist named Dr. Carl Pfeiffer. We have an ATP7B copper binding gene defect that runs in my family and I'm a carrier for the defective gene, which still causes a somewhat elevated free copper. Turmeric and Quercetin are two things I take, along with zinc to keep the free copper levels normal and my blood pressure normal.
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing this! Carl Pfeiffer is a name I am familiar with. Do you also know of Dr. William Walsh? His research has been life-changing for a family member of mine. He actually worked with Carl Pfeiffer years back, before taking over the Pfeiffer treatment center in Illinois (prior to moving on and creating the Walsh Research Institute). I met him years back at a conference - as I wanted to listen to him in person and thank him. Anyway I am a huge fan of their work and research. I did not realize that Turmeric and Quercetin had this type of impact on free copper levels. This is so helpful to know. Thank you!

@@LifeDIY Sorry it took me so long to respond. I sometimes go a month or so without getting on YT. I never heard of Dr. Walsh, but he sounds like a smart guy since he was working with Dr. Pfeiffer. I ran onto Dr. Pfeiffer on a website that archives old orthomelecular doctors that used vitamin therapy. I have an older brother in a group home that was diagnosed with schizophrenia years ago and learned that Dr. Pfeiffer cured 20,000 schizoprenics by lowering their copper levels with high dose zinc, so I'm currently working on getting his free copper lowered to cure him. Since Pfeiffer was around, they mapped the genome and discovered free copper, which is copper that is unbound to ceruloplasmin. I had my free copper tested and it was elevated, but have never had any psychiatric problems. In fact alot of people in our family had their free copper tested after I told them about it and they all had elevated levels. Through research I found out that it takes an elevated free copper, along with a defective blood brain barrier BBB, to have psychiatric or neurological problems from the free copper. My brother was a heavy pot smoker in his younger days and THC has been found to put holes in the BBB, so I think it was why he became schizophrenic. We also have Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and ALS that runs in the family, and research is showing a link to free copper with these 3 things. I have learned that most people with this ATP7B gene defect live a relatively normal life while the free copper gradually builds over their lifetime, because their brain is protected by the BBB. Then when they get older their BBB sometimes starts to deteriorate and becomes permeable, allowing the toxic free copper to enter their brain and cause these old age diseases. Anyway, I thank God he showed me this so I can prevent these things in old age by keeping my free copper normal and also cure my brother. The free copper test at lab corp is called direct measurement of free copper and the test code is 279071. This test will measure the amount of unbound toxic copper contained in your serum copper. When I lowered my free copper to normal levels, it definitely cured my blood pressure problems, so I guess Dr. Pfeiffer was right. I didn't mean to write a book on YT lol. I just thought I'd share some of my research. Anyway, I was watching a video earlier about your cat. How's your cat's ear? I live in the country too and currently have 3 cats. There are alot of feral cats living in the wild around here and over the years I've adopted full litters of kittens. I always plan to give some of them away, but get attached to them and end up keeping the whole family lol.

Hi Holly, I've been following you for a bit now, but never commented. 🙂I can relate to a lot of your videos and the issues you've encountered. I found your LDN video shortly after starting it myself and have also enjoyed watching the peels and microneedling, which I'm now doing too! As far as blood pressure, I've run low for years, even during pregnancy, so I can relate. Licorice tea has been helpful for me, and I've read adrenal supplements can help too. I crave salt like a madwoman, so I don't hesitate to use a lot of it (sea salt) with my food, which may help too, like another commenter said.

Hi Lauren. I am so happy you commented! Thanks for sharing that about the licorice tea. I'm going to get some. And, thanks also for mentioning the adrenal supplements. I just recently started taking some of them, but I have had to stop briefly as I am going to do a DUTCH Complete test (for all hormones and cortisol levels). I am probably going to do a video on this test and results in the future. It is so interesting that you've been dealing with such similar issues. It kind of feels like most people can't relate, but there are probably a lot of people dealing with similar things, we just don't hear that much about it. I hope things are going well for you with the LDN. I also just subscribed to your channel. I love the channel name as it's so cute and reminds me of something. I don't know why, but I tend to use the "wrong" utensil sometimes with certain meals and my son always comments on it, as it seems to be amusing. So your oatmeal with a fork is right up my alley. I hope you keep posting videos there as it's so nice to see someone making things GF, DF and low sugar. :) I don't bake a lot of goodies anymore, but it's nice to have some options if I ever want to! I also just bookmarked your blog. I plan to make the meatball recipe!

I hope you like the meatballs if you try them, and thanks again for your sweet message and subscribing.

Hi Holly , I had been meaning to reply to your reply to my question about the Cotz sunscreen but I couldn’t find the video I had originally posted it !! At any rate I wanted to say thank you for your response and that it was the Sensitive skin sunscreen (without the word Primer in it) that I had bought but it just took too long to absorb so I gave the two tubes to my sister to use on her arms and legs since she tends to wear a lot shorts in the summer so it wouldn’t go to waste. I’m trying out the supergoop unseen sunscreen and it doesn’t pill or leave a white cast but the silicone feeling is a bit strange not to mention it’s a lot pricier than other sunscreens but I like it enough so far to pay a bit more. Not necessarily love but this will have to do for now. Anyways, I was going to say Holly that I know you mentioned you have CKD (?) so I wanted to caution you against a mostly carnivore diet as that could cause kidney stones among other issues since your body would have only mostly protein to utilize as fuel instead of a mix of good carbohydrates from vegetables and efficient protein. I’m no medical professional but you may want to consider adding organic psyllium husk to your daily diet to prevent the recycling of bile, thus the recycling of hormones which are fat soluble and never actually exit the body unless the bile which transports the hormones (which the liver never actually break down ) and other fat soluble waste is able to bind with something else to prevent getting reabsorbed through the GI tract , meaning it never actually gets thrown out in the form of a bowel movement . If you type in YT or any search engine , karen hurd, she explains it much much better . She calls it the enterohepatic recirculation. If someone DOESN’T have CKD or kidney issues , beans in my opinion is preferable to psyllium husk but since you do have issues with your kidneys , she has said those who are dealing with that should avoid beans because of their high potassium and phosphorous content which can be very hard on the kidney and liver.

Thank you so much for this thorough reply! For sunscreens - another nice option is the Biossance sunscreen - or Good Molecules also sells a super light-weight sunscreen. They are a lot less heavy, or less greasy, and absorb into my skin very nicely. The cheapest one is the one by Good Molecules, though it's a somewhat small tube. Thank you also for your advice about eating low carb or carnivore. I actually don't have CKD though! My kidneys are 100% functioning and working well. I was just misdiagnosed by a doctor, which has happened to me numerous times. So thankfully I don't have those issues. I do like adding psyllium husk at times to some food I'm making. I just did that the other day with some meatloaf. :)

@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 11 ай бұрын
Wow, thank you! I initially paid someone to do the project and I was so excited for it and the work he was going to do. But, unfortunately it is an art and it's a lot of work and that guy didn't have that as part of his plan. :) So, he was super sloppy, rushing and charging me a ton - and there were giant gaps (bigger than my foot), so I let him go and got to work. My son was better at this stuff than myself but I learned as we went along. There weren't many good youtube videos showing how to break them manually. It's really tough and sometimes they just break in the wrong places and it is super frustrating. It's a great workout physically and mentally. If there is an actual professional (Hardscaper), they'll often cut the stones with a concrete saw, but we used chisels as my son was more into the DIY way. But, the winter rolled around insanely fast, so we didn't finish it. The guy also did some grading/leveling and didn't do the best. So I hope and pray I can fix that and finish it this summer. Sorry for the long rant but I am excited about that project! I am going to do some vlogs coming up with these DIY projects which I love to do.

I’m struggling with low bp too. My gf and I went to get our glutathione IVs. The nurse took our blood pressure and the bottom number was around 60 for both of us. I felt very weak and lethargic. I had wondered if it could relate to low barometric pressure. We also both had an alert that we had low air pressure in the tires on our cars. It might sound nutty but I just thought it was awfully coincidental. The sky has been really overcast everyday for months on end and it always looks like it’s going to rain. I also feel exhausted. No idea if my supplements could be playing a role but it is common for people to be tired when it’s overcast or rainy. I try to drink licorice tea because I heard it raises blood pressure.

Sorry to hear that. It can leave you feeling exhausted and weak. That is what I've experienced - so tired when the BP was extra low. I definitely think overcast gloomy weather can make you feel more terrible. A lot of people in the comments have been giving some incredible advice - you can try to add 1/2 teaspoon or even a teaspoon of salt to some water and drink it down and see if it helps raise your BP. If you're low carb (or keto), it is important to keep the electrolytes up and have enough salt. 🙏

Hi. I just recently discovered your KZfaq videos, and I really do enjoy your presentation style. When I was younger, I had lowish BP around the range of 100/70 with a resting heart rate of 48 to 53 (ish), from about age 12 to 30 (ish). I used to experience the sudden standing up black out issue, and had learned to first sit up, stand up slowly, and take several deep breaths. I kind of miss those days. On another note, I have been viewing some of your microneedling videos from 3 or 4 years ago, and wonder if you still do this? Also, do you think there is anything to this process speeding up cell reproduction with skin cells reaching their hayflick limit sooner than would otherwise be the case (the cell division limit) leading to earlier aging, and I wonder if taking resveratrol to increase the telomer length would help counteract it? H
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing this. I am hoping I won't have many of these symptoms anymore, but your tips are still helpful. I am still doing microneedling treatments, though not super consistently. The last treatment I did was in April. I will do some more research on microneedling and skin cells reaching their hayflick limit. I think that certain things may help with clearing the body of these cells - like fasting and certain supplements or senolytics. I looked into this briefly and this article here: www.beautyrx.com/blogs/learn/120439683-the-end-of-skin-will-you-eventually-run-out-of-skin-from-exfoliating stated that this hayflick limit does not apply to skin cells. I will try to look for more info on this as some of the info online is conflicting or complicated. It's a very interesting topic. I think that it's still a great idea to do things to help clear out those toxic cells from the body. I recently did a genetic bio age test (Truage) and I'll do a video on it coming up, and part of the results were telomere length. And I was surprised to see that my telomeres are supposedly quite long for my age. Not all my results were good though! Anyway, I am going to try to find more information on the hayflick limit and if it applies to skin. So, thank you!

Were you experiencing symptoms? I had a similar experience with Ginko - when I was taking in the morning I was sooo lethargic, after a bit of research I found it too can be used to lower blood pressure, so I switched it to nighttime use and all is well. I do believe we should have lower bp at night and I take a little telmisartan (an ARB) to encourage more rest/recovery. When I took a good dose of quercetin during the Omicron peak 18 months ago and it really halted my thyroid production - funny enough that made me feel cold, sad, and lonely - it took a few days to consider that the feelings were not just from my life situation.

It got pretty bad, so that's why I wanted to finally fix the issue. I didn't really have any problems over the winter, but the heat of the summer seems to make things so much worse.

Watching your other videos it is clear you are far more diligent than most including me with your health. Clearly you have dealt with health challenges far better than most, it’s something I respect. That said, sometimes things could be missed. Your Blood Pressure is similar to mine, however my resting pulse rate generally is in the mid 50s. From what I saw in your readings, your pulse rate was in the 80s. Perhaps your blood is on the thinner side which could explain why you have a lower blood pressure, perhaps this is something you may want to explore if you haven’t done so already. Wish you best of luck, thank you for your share, always learn something from your videos.

When was the last time you checked your cortisol levels? You can check by doing a saliva test or better yet, doing a Dutch test. Cortisol has a profound effect on blood pressure and I think the supplements are contributing to lowering your cortisol since both of them combined are potent anti-inflammatory - this is considering you are adequately hydrated (do a CBC panel to look at those markers), or forward me your latest CBC and I can tell you in a minute or two if your CBC is optimal. The body does a very good job of maintaining BP, but the one diastolic reading of 54 is a definite cause for concern since anything below 50 can lead to organ damage. The absolute lowest safest reading should be 60mm HG. Just my 2 cents! Been a while since I posted. It was good to see you! Take care!
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! We think alike! MY CBC is always fine/optimal. But, I last did a DUTCH Complete test four years ago. I just bought another one yesterday. If anyone wants to get that test done, they can buy it from DHA labs for $350. It's normally $500. I finally have a good doctor who can read the results properly. So I am excited to get that done. It takes some time for results, but I will probably share all this in a video in the future. Thanks for sharing that about the lowest BP that is safe.

@@LifeDIY I figured you were on top of this with all the research you do. I'm happy to hear you have a doctor that can interpret the results properly. So many conventional medicine physicians are clueless these days. Like with the BP. Most docs will say it's okay to have low BP as long as you are not experiencing symptoms. However, you have to look at the clinical trials. Anything below 60mm HG long term is not good. Below 50 and you are doing damage to organs. Keep doing whatever you are doing because you haven't aged at all.

What helps lower blood pressure is controlling the intake of sweets/carbs etc. I take glycine which helps control sugar, in turn it lowers bp. Wow, thanks for sharing this too. That sounds like the same symptoms I've been experiencing on and off. Not fun. Hopefully you don't experience that again. quercetin is a senolytic, meaning it kills senescent cells, IFF taken in doses 1g+ per day. Such, it puts a lot of stress onto the body. Senolytics like quercetin, fisetin and resveratrol should be taken in low doses, such as 1/10 of that 1000mg, that is sth between 5..10mg on a daily basis, and 1g just periodically every 2..4 weeks, for 2 days in a row. The mode of application is with a tea spoon of live oil. this all being said, low bp can have a lot of different primary causes, such as imbalance in vegetative nervous system (habits: eating, movement, strength), imbalance in alpha\alpha2\beta receptors, missing minerals. Yet, in most cases it is not natrium that is missing. The salt recommendation is a myth, it has only short term effects, in either direction

Sorry to hear that! :( Hopefully your BP will improve! I know that everyone is really particular about their way of eating and it's a real personal thing. So I am not pushing mine, but it is so interesting to hear about your diet because it sounds like the opposite of mine! I was always raised and taught that vegetables are so important and eat that and fruit, and to be low fat etc. But, over the last few years especially, I've become very in tune with my body and I noticed that I feel so much better eating more meat with fat from the meat, less and less vegetables and fruit. The fruit is ok here and there (some berries) but I keep it to a small amount. The vegetables tend to cause a lot of GI problems for me. The more I've eaten so low carb, (keto) to almost carnivore, the more my BP lowered. These supplements seem to have lowered it even more somehow. I just thought it was super interesting with you sharing your diet details, so I wanted to share mine!
