The dry county in South Dakota on the alcohol map is a sad story. Heavy Native American population with major alcoholism issues. One of the poorest places in the entire country.

Pine Ridge Reservation is dry. Until 2017 a lot of residents that wanted alcohol went to Whiteclay, NE. A town with about 14 resident with 4 liquor stores selling over 4 mil. cans of beer yearly. Somebody got rich of a bad situation.

I'm from Rhode Island and I remember going to Rocky Point and remember the commercial, was a great amusement park in Warwick, RI, went to it many times as a kid, the park went bankrupt and closed in 1995, now it's a walkway and grassland around the park, they did a great job converting it over.

The commercials were all amazing but the Rocky Point commercial hit me right in the nostalgia! I grew up in RI in the 80s and some of my best memories are from Rocky Point. It closed right around the time I started college 😢

What a great observation! Our local radio station seems to make a few jingles for local companies and they use them for years and years ! Oh my worst are the kids of the owners - and those kids also yell ! Who imagines this would attract customers?

Ha-ha, 5% interest on a mortgage. In the early 80s in Denmark, the mortgage interest was 22% ! Today it is around 3%, but these complaints make me think of a way worse past.

YES! You showed the commercial for Rocky Point Amusement Park! I remember seeing that on TV at our summer house in Narragansett when I was a little kid. I miss their fudge store. I remember hearing Waldbaum's commercials on the radio when I was living in Connecticut in the late 1990s, and they kept singing that their prices were going down down down down. . . . Their prices eventually went a little too far down, since they went bankrupt in 2015. If I ever go to San Francisco, then it seems I need to go to Marshall's Beach. Years ago, I used to change planes at LAX, and I'd usually eat at In 'n' Out Burger, but there was one time when I ate at Carl's Jr. instead. I found the experience mostly to be unremarkable other than their fried zucchini (which I rather liked). Did you know they have Hardee's in Doha, Qatar? They're also currently offering special meals for Ramadan! Anyhoo, thanks for another educational and entertaining video, Nick!

Excellent and interesting! Welfare is for people who really need it -not for lazy people with lots of kids and different dads. Sad especially for kids. Liberal Democrats have done so much damage. Nick, you do know that the land size of the US is NOT growing? Our excessive population keeps growing mostly because of immigration, if it hadn't been for immigration, our population growth would have ended decades ago & our quality of life would be much better. We cannot keep destroying farmland for more housing, we still need to eat. It should be obvious that we MUST STOP OUR GROWTH! Resources are limited, our fertile land is not just limited, it's shrinking thanks to abuse & development. There is no such thing as "sustainable" growth, there is no such thing as "smart" growth & there is even no such thing as "green" growth. ALL growth is limited, our growth will also end one way or another & we have 'chosen' a very rough & painful way to end to our growth. WASVF!!!!

I'm not all the way through this video, but enjoying it so far. I was looking at some data yesterday to try and understand "why is homelessness so bad" would love for you to look at that subject. I found an interesting correlation with homelessness and state GDPR (more money a state has, more homeless...assuming more benefits for homeless?). I also noticed that when looking at top states for homeless populations many had legalized marijuana. I'm from one of those state and it seems to me that rates increased since it was legalized. I don't know that it's a direct correlation other than people thinking "hey this place is lax and I won't get charged for doing drugs, I should go here". Would be interested to hear your perspective.

Have you been to many other countries? I’m a Canadian and I’ve been living in the US for over 20 years. This country is way more free than our neighbors up north.

Actually, although it feels like I “just” did it, technically it was April 2021, twelve months ago now. I guess I got in at the perfect time cuz I just checked & was shocked to see they’re in fact back up to near the rate I got in 2003!
