Its the reallity....my jack is 15years old...they are trustfull but very intelligent....if you understand them...and take the time to understand them...because very smart...then you will have the best dog..thats for sure😢

I had a JRT that LOVED swimming (was a good thing we lived by a creek w/piers)!!! He would retrieve anything from the water, even egrets, jellyfish and once a small child during a hurricane when it had flooded over the piers. On the first day we got him, at only a few weeks old, he walked into a pond and dog paddle 😅! He was what we true owners called "Puddin' Jack" ; very very short legs and paunchy body. Also, he listened better than any dog I'd owned or breed I was familiar with. He listened so well that he knew, after listening to me tell him only once, the name of almost 100 toys and would find/fetch them at (my) first ask! He listened so well that he knew much of the English language and would react when he heard words in normal human conversation. WHEW - I know this is a lot and goes against a lot of what your video had to say - maybe you got a dud☺️!!

My JRTs loved to swim. Nothing better than playing “lifeguard “ to the kids in the pool.

They are very protective. When I'm sitting in my vehicle waiting for my wife to come out of the store and someone comes up and wants to pet her, she starts to growl. And if they get closer she'll bark. They're very protective. So I have to make sure I only leave the window down enough so she can't get her whole head out the window in case I'm not paying attention or looking the other way. Don't want any accidents for sure. Some people don't know to ask if your dog can be petted. They are great dogs.😊

Mine howls when sirens go by and he does this shriek bark when someone unknown shows up.

We had to put down our Jack Russell today, 😢 his name was Lenny and he lived to be 16 years old (he is the one on my profile picture) he was starting to feel sick a couple of weeks ago and it only got worse. That led us to the hard decision of putting him down. Fly high lenny❤❤❤

Every Jack Russell I've ever owned has been a brilliant swimmer, the only reason they don't like taking a bath is because the water is too clean. Filthy river? Straight in. Most of my Jackies have liked meeting people, as long as the person is of good character and they are an excellent judge of character. Oh, and none of mine have been jealous

That's strange my JRT "Gizmo" actually likes water. He doesn't waste any time jumping in and splashing around. Maybe he's just the exception I don't know. I take him with me when I go to the lake to swim. I introduced him to water at a young age though. The problem with him is I can't take him around other male dogs that much. He thinks he is a big tough dog and can take on anything. The last time I took him to the local park he nearly got jumped on by a big mastiff mixed breed that could have eaten him alive. It has earned him some extra time at home. I'm glad I had him on a leash and was able to pull him back in time. He is a good little dog though and smart he is able to do tricks like play dead and roll over bark yes or no things like that. Sounds don't bother him that much unless it is a loud shrill sound like a screech or a siren. He hates sirens or loud whistles and will bark and howl at them. He is hilarious if I'm sitting on my couch watching TV and fart he will run and bark at the front door. He is hyper and there is never a dull moment with him. There has been a couple of people that he didn't like very much upon meeting them like he got a bad vibe from them other than that he is usually pretty curious when somebody new is there. And if I stop petting him he will chew softly on my toes or at my hands and whimper. He also loves to chase small animals like squirrels he caught a small one once and chewed its tail off. The squirrel still comes around though I call him Bob for the Bobbed tail.
