When I moved to Hawaii I was staying at the Double Tree in Waikiki while I looked for a place. I was set on living in Waikiki for the first two weeks. Then I immediately started looking on the Windward side as the noise and competing with all the tourists got old quickly. I ended up in Kaneohe. Best decision ever! 🤙🏻

I used to live right on Kalaheo Dr in Kailua back in the 90s. Went back last month to play at the beach…. Wow it has changed. Not an inch of parking anymore near the beach. Then moved to Makiki to be closer to work. I rode a motorcycle so I always had parking lol. Then lived in Mililani for a short time. If I were to live on Oahu today I’d either go all in and live in town for the action or all in and live in the country (north shore/Waialua) to get away from it all lol.

Watching this video reminds me that I am from NUUANU VALEY on the south shore of oahu,and as far ad coffee is concerned buy your own KONA coffee,and the best place to shop is at ALOHA STADIUM on the weekens,best deals and with the food buy your own and take it home.

If I may make a suggestion, which would help many unfamiliar with the locations of the communities you talk about, Could you show map locations of the communities as you talk about them. Thank you. Thank you for that feedback, yes, we'll find more ways to incorporate maps. It's definitely something we do on each corresponding neighborhood page of our website. We're working on a master map that will highlight each neighborhood on Oahu -- linking to each video and neighborhood guide as well. Are there any neighborhoods that currently have your interest?

Nice video and find it interesting even as a local kamaaina living here. Looks like you had some gorgeous weather to film this segment and makes our island so much more appealing. I didn't feel you spent enough time talking about Hawaii Kai which is also my home. I did watch some of your dedicated videos about Hi Kai though so props to that. Keep up the good work and maybe one day I see you at Costco HiKai...or as Auntie might say "I no kea"...

Really looks like you found a gem that is starting to look real nice now. I recall being a young kid riding my bike out on Kalanianaole Hwy then turned on Lunalilo. I thought how gorgeous this area is and what a dream would be to call this area home. Today I am living the dream since 1992! Aloha! BTW - you got some local lingo there.

Hi!! I live in New York City for last 25 years. I went to Hawaii three times..and couple months is gonna be my fourth time...I love all Hawaiian islands, and I’m going to look for apartment… to buy.. have to be closer to the beach 🏝️ any recommendations please..

I recently found your videos. I love them! If we could find jobs that would support our same lifestyle there that we have on the mainland, we'd move tomorrow! I love the Hawaiian culture and am jealous of the family focus and the rich culture as I don't have that.

I would add Kapolei for multi generational families. It is sort of like Orange County in the 1970's. Suburban Vibe, newer construction, all the services, stores and reataurants, best and most library on the island, Costco and government services with variety of medical services.

Great question! Moanalua High School and Mililani High School are touted as being 2 of the best. I hear Kalani High School and Kaiser are good too, but I have no actual proof or data.

Retire to Ni'ihau. It might be neat if you could, and then would that be on the beach, near the mountains, the east coast, west coast? I was just watching a 22 minute helicopter fly-over video and it almost looks otherworldly, having grown up knowing it as "the forbidden island" and being private. I never saw any pictures of it until the internet.

I was actually born and raised in Missouri while my mom is from Hawaii. I experienced hate and bullying when I lived here at 9 years old, mostly because of the way I talked. I had a mid-western/southern drawl that the local kids didn’t understand. It built character in me and helped me to find my way to interact with different people from all walks of life.

In just the first 20 seconds of this video it was drastically tone deaf. Do wanna this, do you like that, do like butterflies and rainbows.... miss ma'am, people on this island can't even afford rent for 285sq/ft studio let alone $900k+++ homes, and hell even mortgaging a cheap studio in a old building is still impossible when you factor in the $1,000+++ HOA fees.
