Embraer was always on the military market, it started as a state owned aircraft manufacturer run by the Brazilian Airforce. So Embraer is not a civilian aircraft manufacturer that started working on the military market, it's first plane was a light tactical military transport that had its maid flight on 1969, and that was later converted on a small civilian regional airliner in the 1970s. And since the 1970s the company always worked on both the civilian and military markets. Initially they would just convert their military transport designs into airliners, later started developing full civilian planes. Nowadays the Embraer SA, have multiple subsidiaries working both the civilian and military markets. In the civilian market it manufactures everything from Aircraft Components and Equipments (Landing Gears, Hydraulic Systems, Pilons, aircraft seats, etc.); to Crop Dusters and General Avianton Planes (Props); to Executive Jets and Commercial Jet Airliners; all the way to EVTOL Vehycles; Alternative Propulsion Research and Sustainable Fuel Research, and Sustainable Airplane Development. In the Military Market, Embraer Defense and Military, and other subsidiaries manufacture Military Aircrafts ranging from Military Trainers and Light CAS and COIN platforns; to Light and Medium Multi-Mission Tactical Military Transports; to AEW&C platforms, Remote Sensing/ELINT platforms, Maritime Patrol and Anti-Submarine Warfare platforms, with C3I and ELINT capabilities, and armed with 4 Torpedoes and Anti-Ship Missiles, all otiginally based on the EMB-145, with the new offerings based on either the Praetor 600, the E190 E2, or the C-390 at customer's requirements; all the way to 4.5+ gen Supersonic Multi-role Fighters (the JAS 39 Gripen E/F).

As aeronaves possuem componentes produzidos em solo português, nas antigas fábricas da Embraer em Évora e nas OGMA, Alverca do Ribatejo, e a sua conceção implicou o investimento de 650 mil horas de trabalho da engenharia portuguesa, num trabalho desenvolvido pelo CEiiA. O primeiro KC-390 tem também equipamentos padrão da NATO, "integrados após uma extensa campanha de testes realizados em Portugal", e já foi aprovado pela Autoridade Aeronáutica Nacional (AAN).

Really nice replacement for the olds C-130 besides cheaper to acquire and low maintenance with multi functional capabilities !
