@Krzysztof_8818 күн бұрын
I honestly don't get the hype for LC. I mean it's cool since it's a V8 luxury coupe but it's just a coupe Lexus, nothing unusual. It's not the best quality, it's not super good looking, it doesn't drive like it's anything way better than 8 series for example. I don't say it's bad but It's just not any better than 8 series. Also the rear seats in LC are made of some fake plastic leather which feels super cheap and it's not like it isn't noticeable, once you touch it you know it's plastic, they didn't even try to make it feel like actual leather. At LC's price point I'd say it's unacceptable

@@Krzysztof_88 "It's not the best quality" At its price range, it is. And I'd defy you to identify a more expensive car that will be as cheap to keep running. "it's not super good looking" You're in the minority on this opinion, watch the Jason Cammisa video where he puts it next to an Aston Martin. "Also the rear seats in LC are made of some fake plastic leather" Even if what you say is true (it's not), nobody cares, you don't buy coupes for the back seats. "At LC's price point I'd say it's unacceptable" I bet you were the kind of guy who complained about the LFA too. When you should have bought three of them.
@Krzysztof_8817 күн бұрын
It's not the best quality and that's a fact no matter if it's expensive or not. It's not super good looking and that's my opinion, you don't have to agree with me on that. And I don't care what Cammisa says, also most current Astons are ugly af but that also just my opinion. Back seats are made of fake leather, that's a fact. Front seats are real leather. And I do care about that, I care about such details and that would drive me crazy. I don't care about LFA, it's history and collectible item now, it's not a car that anyone actually drives anymore. Also LFA was smaller production and more exclusive while LC is just a Lexus that you can buy at every Lexus dealer. Every new car is cheap to keep running. Just get extended warranty. Good friend of mine has 2018 or 2019 BMW 840d and it's dead reliable. And it handles WAY better than LC. Why Toyota fanboys always think they're right and that only your opinion counts? There's a book called "Physics for Future Presidents" that has a section about hydrogen as a fuel. It talks about what April was fishing for. The amount of energy that is required to prepare hydrogen fuel is greater than the energy that is available in the hydrogen that results from the process. I also saw a video recently about a Murai owner that was trying to fill up in California. The fuel cost was staggering and the inconvenience to get it was way worse than public EV chargers.
@drunkenhobo802017 күн бұрын

And, since I live on a large island much of which is semi-rural, I very much doubt there is much in the way of fuelling stations elsewhere unless one travels to Vancouver (which needs a ferry ride). So, goodbye to longish road trips. Just seems like an incredible hassle (like owning an electric vehicle pre-Supercharger days).

The benefit of hydrogen isn't that it's efficient, it's that excess solar or wind energy can be used to generate hydrogen, which is then more portable than most other forms of energy storage. (Transporting and storing hydrogen is actually very difficult but it is probably solvable.) I'm not sure that hydrogen will ever become a great option, but without companies like Toyota pouring money into research, we'll never find out.

Know a guy locally that has a modified LC500. Lots of top-tier parts he's imported from Japan like the Aimgain Carbon hood/fenders. Advan wheels, Toms exhaust and steering wheel. Just so nicely put together. I wasn't a big fan of the LC500 when I first seen the debut, but in person. Man they are sharp. And modified properly lovely. The Lexus RC F is a beautiful car as well. And the Vasser-Sullivan campaign in IMSA this year has been going great. I'd buy a RC F if the price was better. But it's hard to justify paying that much, when you can buy a 911 that's just overall better. I did have a IS300 F Sport and absolutely loved it, and the RC is just a 2 door version. But the price point on them, is just too much to justify since the car doesn't do any one thing better than everyone - but it does do everything above exceptions. The problem is, if you go to test drive a BMW/Mercedes you'll probably find your self buying either over the Lexus. Over time I think people would rather have the Lexus with it's ownerships cost, reliability, and build quality, BUT it's that initial experience that sells the car 90% of the time.

OK, so I can comment on 2 of these: The Acura ZDX is built on the GM Ultium platform, so they limited their exposure on the R&D of this model. They just license the platform and become a coach builder. Not a terrible outcome if they don't sell. As for the Toyota Mirai: I drove a Mirai for (almost) 3 years. The car is actually amazing. It's really a Lexus but they badge it as a Toyota to try to appeal to the "everyman" buyer. But to answer April's question: it's a pain in the a** to find hydrogen. Yes, they only sell them in California. But in southern California where, what, 20 million people live, there are only 25 hydrogen stations. So you truly have to plan your routes around where you can fill up, and then you find that only about 15-18 have hydrogen at any given time. It was really a nightmare. So much so that I turned in my lease 2 months early and just made the payments because it was so frustrating to find hydrogen. It's a "chicken and egg" problem that they haven't solved yet. I really don't know how they are still convincing people to buy them?

Re hydrogen-fueled cars: Hydrogen vs. Helium Carrying explosive devices on a hydrogen-filled balloon is certainly problematic, and there are a famous number of airship accidents. Whether they crashed into trees or experienced an engine fire, hydrogen was not the wisest decision. We learned from the Hindenburg disaster that hydrogen is highly flammable, whereas helium is not. The fabric surrounding the body of the airships was incompatible with the risks of combustible gas, which was assumed to be safe before. Though the probability of something as tiny as a spark-catching flame was extremely low, the Hindenburg disaster made manufacturers more cautious. Is there any other reason other than availability why sane people wouldn't buy a hydrogen-powered vehicle?

I totally lost ANY interest in Volvo when it became 100% owned by China. I owned a number of Volvos prior to Geeley.

Spending most your day wrenching on cars, no time to cook proper meals. And his divorce, assuming no packed lunch. So he gained major weight unfortunately. His team too from what it looks.

Toyota should put that 5.0 V8 that’s inside the Lc 500 into the supra that would be very interesting and I’m sure it would sell like hotcakes

We have an Audi A8L with a V6 and it has more than enough power for us. Plus we get 35 mpg on the highway.

I am surprised Hydrogen hasn't become more of a thing. Getting more energy from it than used to make it must be bigger problem than I imagined. From a Big Oil perspective Hydrogen makes a lot of sense to pursue as it just a different form of the infrastructure they already have. From a consumer perspective, a quick fill up and you are on the road again instead of reading a book at the fast charger.

Hydrogen? Nuclear is where it's at.

The issue with hydrogen is there is different types. Three grades iirc. Grey, blue, and green is it? Grey being hydrogen from petrochemical sources. Cheapest, but not cleanest. I cannot remember specifics on other two. One being from water using renewable energy?

I’ve somehow seen 4 Grenadiers so far. Which is 3 more than the Fisker Ocean, wonder why Fisker filed for bankruptcy lol
@waynekaminski543817 күн бұрын
Fisker filed for bankruptcy because it was not a well-run business. Fisker's wife ran that company in the ground. Who loses $15 million dollars due to poor accounting processes, then spends six months getting the accounting books straightened out to properly account for that $15 million? Fisker.

It's getting easier to produce Hydrogen. Some are even making their own Hydrogen. And the best thing is it's fairly easy to convert a gas car over. And their exhaust produces water. To make more Hydrogen from.

Given that luxury sedans are Genesis' bread and butter, perhaps they're siphoning customers away from more expensive brands like Audi and BMW.

The prices on all these new cars are freaking insane. I'll just keep driving the 69 Camaro I have 20 grand into. I do not care if something with fancy disc brakes and power steering can get better mileage than the 396 4 barrel.
