Painful truth! Shiny, overpriced, over complicated pieces of crap are what people want. Maybe, we should be allowed to buy Chinese knock off branded cars that last longer.

Car manufacturers are chasing harder to achieve fuel and emissions standards set by the EPA or, in CA, set by CARB with standards that are even stricter. Car manufacturers try to meet such by cutting weight and now there is a ton of plastic connectors that degrade quicker, become brittle and don't have the life of the metal connectors. There are other more complicated technologies introduced that are proving to be less reliable. The consumer is getting screwed buying vehicles that are going to end up in the scrap pile.

The fix for all this crap in theory is easy. But execution is near impossible. Get the government regulators the hell out of the way and let the market do its thing. Setting certain standards is one thing. But putting handcuffs on at every turn is putting the cost of vehicles into a near unstoppable climb. It’s awful and extremely destructive. 🧐🧐🧐

So my cat turns around at the table and presents me with his butthole. So I turn to the screen to avoid the view and there’s another cat butthole. There’s no escape. LMAO!!! 🐈🤣🤣🤣🐈

But were saving the planet by burning less gas. Never mind all the resources being used to build more cars because they don't last as long. Those 2 or 3mpg saved out weights all the waste were creating now and more resources we use now manufacturing new cars.🤦‍♂ Government NEVER fixes problem, they only create different ones that will make the politicians more money and give them more power.

My mother in law has a 2002 Tundra with the V8 sitting in her driveway and she seldom drives it, yet at least once a week she'll get a random note from someone under the windshield wiper offering to buy it from her. They're that in demand.

I just got done with a 900 mile road trip in my old 1998 Lexus GS400. The only i was worried about distracted drivers swerving into my lane as i was passing them, not that the 26 year old silky smooth V8 has over 200,000 miles of wear. Im gonna miss that kind of worry free confidence in driving a Toyota.

It's not just recent Toyota quality has gone down.....leased a 2018 Tacoma with the V-6. It was a piece of crap right off the lot. Engine misfired due to lean condition, transmission shudder during down-shifts. The only thing my Toyota service advisor wanted was for the turd to be back in my hands as quickly as possible with complete denial of any issues.

I'm normally not one to buy into online advertising but I have to admit that Auto Tempest really is a great site. I just bought a used Cadillac Lyriq and I got an AMAZING deal which I found on ... Auto Tempest. My point is: it's not hyperbole, it really does what the ads say it does. So good on ya.

People crying about turbos make me laugh. My 7.3 diesel with a turbo is a known 500k engine easy. The problem is they put these tiny engines in and make you rev em up to 6k+ rpm to get power out of them cause of emissions and mpg standards, working the engine much harder.

They can't help it. The government regulation making vehicles huge for footprint rules with EPA and small stressed engines. Everyone gets to pay for ev subsidies the whole time also. It's all ridiculous. I'm all for progress but bankrupting industries that are still heavily relied upon while spending billions on industrial that needs subsidies to be substanable seems crazy.
