I agree Consumables destroyed the balancing of TDS. Making the game less skill based and more luck based. Which is the opposite reason why mysteries were changed to breakers in newer maps. This makes me feel like TDS is being developed by like 3 different people who don't communicate with each other.

They're gonna be like powers in BTD6, nobody really uses them and they are banned in the hardest game mode

That's kind of the point, there's never a *need* to use these consumables. But as a new player coming in, you're going to see these things and become reliant on them pretty quickly. It encourages players to use them whenever they mess up rather than learning from their mistakes and doing better next time. I also feel like adding a system where people can gamble real cash in a game targeted at children is kind of a scummy thing to do. And to be fair, these consumables are actually pretty strong. The main reason behind this is that unlike your towers, they don't take any ingame cash but instead robux or coins. So you could say that they are just worse versions of the towers, but keep in mind that they are never meant to be used alone. A damage flag in combination with the mercenary base for example will give you +60% damage which is actually pretty insane. The +20% speed buff stacks with commander, which is also insane. And the range flag isn't that useful, but its counterpart, the UAV, is. The pursuit for example does not have hidden detection, but with this, you don't even need to bring any towers with hidden detection. Just use these to get past the main hidden waves and bring a spawner tower, that's it. The cash drop is also really strong in combination with the farm, there's a reason they only give you 600 starting cash. With that extra 1200 you are now sitting at 1800 cash, which is enough for a mercenary base OR you can invest it into your farms and get an early game tower down to defend. By wave 15 you can have max farms, which is pretty insane. So if you have the coins to spend on these things or decide to whale on the game, the consumables can get pretty crazy very quickly. They remove skill and personally I dislike having them used in my games. I understand some people think it's fun, but personally rather than seeing big number on screen go down I like to be rewarded for placing my towers well and using skill.

You're so wrong about power-ups being useless it's funny, power-ups are so useful to get great advantage in early game and some even help in the later rounds like flags for general buff, nuke (50k dmg..), Freeze bombs for swarms of enemies, etc.

Ngl I kinda agree there are some consumables that are genuinely useless. However I disagree on the supply crate, yes you may have farms but the supply crate is for early game, imagine 1.2k cash at wave 2 that’s good money to either upgrade or place towers. You also don’t have to use it once you can use it multiple times. I also think barricade is very useful for early game but dies drop of late game so there are some uses for consumables. In my opinion the range one is the most useless (because of dj and commander) or grenade (very low damage is only used for like first 1-7 waves)

Also I leaked I think 160 health from slimes and the air strike came in clutch. You wouldn’t have been able to get a military strike mil base ability by then so depends on situation too.

you say that the flags are useless but did you know that *_They stack with towers?_* merc base + damage flag = 60% damage buff commander with COA + firerate flag = 70% firerate boost

I can agree that the consumables update is kind of useless.. But one fun thing is, when I opened my first crate (bronze), I got the nuke first try (0.75% chance)

7:34 youre not going to get mil base to lvl 4 on the earlier waves when theres a horde. youre just going to use the airstrike. its meant for early and mid game not for late game. youre just using the consumables wrong
