Interesting how all the "cute" animals, are aggressive, and pretty much worthless when it comes to parenting, yet the crocodile, one of the most vicious creatures we try to avoid, seems to be the best parent there is when it comes to the wild

In a geology class, I had a professor explain how terrestrial dinosaurs could have ended up as fossils at the bottom of a body of water. He described the process as “the bloat and float” followed by “the pop and drop”. He then showed us a video of a whale exploding. Good times.
@curiousnerdkitteh6 ай бұрын
Enter the Young Earth Creationists to tell you it was the Noah's Ark flood that fossilised the dinosaurs. 😂
@3possumsinatrenchcoat2 ай бұрын
if anyone's wondering, this is also likely how we got that one really famous armored dinosaur "mummy" that goes around every few months. it likely bobbed upside-down into the ocean (its stomach was far less plated/armored, so path of least resistance for expanding gas), then popped and sank down, burying it upside down in the sediment, where it was quickly covered and fossilized, leaving us with an absolutely stunningly preserved head and back!

Moral of the story? Cute and “harmless” animals = evil Animals that seem dangerous = good
@anaoamal87923 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t use good and evil in the animal kingdom. It’s all survival. No malicious intent. Predators usually don’t have to worry about being fucking chomped to death, so they actually have time to take care of their kids, whilst prey have to worry about not becoming food.

@KPITGangsta3 жыл бұрын
@@bigjayjay2x597 Well, no, because, that is in fact all that they care about. Protecting their territory by any means is code number one. They kill at least 100 people a year from them seeing hippos flick their ears and then getting too close. Remember, if you see a grouping of hippos in the water there’s a severe chance there’s the largest hippo in the group directly under your boat about to destroy your whole world.
@bigjayjay2x5973 жыл бұрын
@@KPITGangsta Never said they don't care territory (well not in the way that don't care about protecting it). But more so that it doesn't matter if you're in their territory or not. Hippos will still be willing to take you out if you're simpling too close. That's how most animals are due to the lack of trust outside their species which makes sense. It just if you're find yourself near one you are probably near or in their territory. But even outside that they're still dangerous.

Hippos don't compete with gators, You don't get hippos in america, they live in africa with crocodiles. Also the mortality rate of baby crocs and gators is awful, I think it's less than 10% survival. It wasn't a dying whale, it was a dead whale that they couldn't get off the beach. They tried dynamite to blow it up in the hopes that the pieces that remained would be small enough to clean up and that the gulls would deal with the mess that remained (they assume it would be a ton of little bite sized bits). Instead it just launched huge chunks and left a beach covered in guts and a dead whale that still couldn't be moved. The gulls wouldn't eat it either.
