In today's video, I will be getting you guys up to date on the latest in AR & VR News. First of all, I will show you multiple new features and code leaks that have arrived with the Quest v66 update. After this we will move onto talking about a fantastic new Virtual Desktop feature that now allows for multiple monitors while using Virtual Desktop, this includes Virtual Monitors on Windows. We will also talk about LG unveiling a new type of Micro-OLED display meant for Virtual Reality as well as Google showcasing new multimodal AI AR Glasses! I hope you enjoy this one :D

v66 is on Basti's firmware archive, (as of this comment, only for the Pro. Quest 3 still only has v65 in the archive) if anyone wants to sideload and try it XD Chillout VR, a competater for VRC, has FULL skeletal input from the Quest, and accidentally opening menus has been a BIG pain. Really looking forward to wrist menus.

You already could use multiple monitors in Virtual Desktop, swapping between them with a button. The beta update allows you to have them on the same screen at the same time, with virtual screens and with rotated screens. (from what I remember in the release notes)

I just hope they fix the shared profile issues i've been having. Dowloading shared apps on a guest profile usually gets stuck and doesnt work across seperate profiles anymore. And then the Quest Pro controllers now never sync up after the headset goes into sleep mode for any extended period of time.

they are pushing the headset as a media consumption device as well - so to be able to download videos from streaming apps (like you can on a phone or tablet) will then mean you can use the device offline for watching content from netflix (and hopefully disney plus if they ever add the app) -- considering they have travel mode for on planes this would make the most sense because you will then be cable to watch your downloaded movies etc that currently require a wifi connection

When wrist buttons are activated, it disables the feature where you pinch and select on a menu when looking at your palm. When you re enable that feature, it disables the wrist buttons again. Hope they make them both work together. Both have their use cases

3 monitors would be great. Sometimes i'll watch a race and have the tv broadcast and one incar cam split on my tv and another incar feed on my laptop, so it's going to be really cool to watch Le Mans etc now with 3 big screens

You're seeing your actual monitors in virtual desktop, these are just a streamed desktop that you'll only see in virtual desktop. So if you'd like to you can now have 3 monitors instead of 2 in virtual desktop simultaneously

When wrist buttons are active then the gestures are autmatically turned off and the extra menu options don't work. Had to turn wrist buttons off and manually activate extra menu options again :(

Oh no I still use the 6 item menu using my right hand and that is soo useful especially for recording and centering the view. It's easy and is done with one hand.

Enabling wrist buttons disables that menu unfortunately. Pressing and holding the meta button on your right wrist just recenters your view now :(

I really wish we were getting displays with more resolution; 3,8k is not nearly enough. The Vision Pro chose to blur its pixels to nulify screen door effect while their HMD has very low FoV; meaning, if it had higher FoV, it would be even trickier to nulify SDE without more pixel density. The better color gamut and brightness are good, but at this juncture, higher pixel density, higher refresh rate (144hz), and bigger displays that comport bigger lenses are essential for XR to be able to stride forward.

I’m hoping one of these updates fixes the WiFi 6e bug that was caused by V53 update. Might be a TP link exclusive bug but still sucks. I can’t play PCVR until it’s fixed.

In my opinion the click action shouldn't be pressing the index finger to the thumb since the index finger is what we use to point, so we won't get any precision when pointing and clicking since the index finger changes position in order to move it to the thumb position. We should have a different action to click, such as raising the middle finger for example.

I'm not sure if it's your eye condition or not, but it seems that your focus is not on the camera and its off ever so slightly. I think moving the camera or yourself farther would improve on the image and benefit the whole.

I'm actually looking at the screen that shows my preview that is attached to the camera and not the camera lens itself. So I'd say that explains that.

Great video as always, my only complaint is when you say "lcd display", which is a common mistake, but makes you appear like you don't know anything about the subject. Lcd is an initialism for liquid crystal display, meaning you said liquid crystal display display.

Just saying. Changing the version branch doensn't have to be done from the browser. You can easily do it from within the headset by: Clicking on the "..." button. Then clicking on the "settings" and from here you should be able to change the version branch for apps like viritual desktop, and pavlov etc...

To a lot of people, AR will only be acceptable if it is 100% non-invasive. Even a small digital clock always in your view would be hugely intrusive for me, not to spreak of all notifications we now get on phones, and even worse, ads all over your reality. VR is so much better as you use it only when you want it, and then it's going all the way😊 A Her type audio interface would be much more friendly than stuff taking over your vision.

Immersed removed real physical multiple monitors support recently. What's worse is it wants you to unplug your monitors to work at all too. I basically cannot use Immersed anymore. Let's hope VD will only get better.

Hope the new downloads is to download Xbox game pass games offline. Could make sense that Meta is making limited edition Xbox headset. Hope we could purchase Xbox games and keep them on the headset without needing a Game pass similar to a Xbox console.

I love vr but im starting to have problems with it and its starting to be more and more anoying. Im talking about the fact trhat today is 2024 but games are worse than in 2019. Im mean seriously how it is possiblle that half life alyx still looks the best and plays the best?? On the other hand today games seem to be getting worse and worse/There is not a single title today that is a system seller. Think about it after finishing alyx if you would thinki how assasins creed will look play in 2024 will be mind blowing...well its not....

"Virtual desktop" is irrelevant garbage. As it discriminates against both Linux and Android, Immersed is the way to go. Ok, maybe it is due to incompetency, but still, then Immersed is better. - And had support for virtual monitors for a LONG time already. Just let "virtual desktop" die in peace already, wasted money.

What PCVR needs is an actual VR OS, not any gimmick emulating 2D OS that has to be patched over and over to add basic functionalities, like...adding monitors in your private virtual space; this should be a no-brainer.

I dumped immersed after their last update, . . . too much trouble to unplug my monitors every time I want to use it, . . . and rearranging windows every time my monitor configuration changes is just a pain. I liked Immersed before their v13 update, but between the single limited announcement they made and the extremely heavy-handed response their management had to any criticism, . . . I'm staying away from immersed.
