His breakthrough public television programs on brain and mental health have aired more than 125,000 times across North America and have made him well-loved by millions of viewers seeking guidance on memory, attention, mood, nutrition, and more.
The Washington Post has called Dr. Amen “the most popular psychiatrist in America” because of his books, media appearances, and clinics, which have over 7,000 patient visits a month. Amen Clinics also have the world’s largest database of functional brain scans relating to behavior, totaling over 170,000 scans on patients from 155 countries.
Dr. Amen has appeared in movies, including Quiet Explosions, After the Last Round, and The Crash Reel, and he was a consultant for the movie Concussion, starring Will Smith. He has also appeared on the Emmy-winning show The Truth About Drinking.

Dear Lewis: I just knew Daniel would be one of the best people to ever have on your podcast!! I was literally responding to some of his comments and verbal ‘illustrations’ the same way you were!! I’ve seen him progress over the years in PBS fund drives they have especially at Christmas and Spring time, but now his content and information is much more detailed and honed and humorous. You two were so good together together, and it was good to see Dr Amon in a different setting where he just talked one on one as if talking to a best friend. This sucked me in: felt like you two were talking directly to Me!! Thankful for you, Lewis and for this precious meeting!! Artist: LindaRaeRamsey

@@thomaswalker9635 the religion isn't the important or healing part, it's just the mindset. Stoicism has the same results without being religious Also before you begin bashing stoicism and calling it bullshit and whatever else you religious nuts will do. Christianity is based on stoicism and the bible was originally created and written by a stoic philosopher, and many people mentioned in the bible practiced stoicism. And many of the most useful traits of the religion of christianity, are originally stoic beliefs and mindsets. So by talking crap on it, you'll also be talking crap on your religion

Well, he didn’t mention what gods he prays to. Nor did he tell us what his prayers were. Nor did he describe any benefits of believing in supernatural man-made entities. He’s just describing being in a mindful, meditative state of mind. And expressing gratitude just for the good things in your life.

Exercise, sauna - do something you like, create loving relationships, eat green leaves, broccoli, kale, fruits, berries, vegetables plant rich whole food, beets, wild salmon, heering, olive oil, avocado keep learning and do something you love - avoid processed food, any alcohol is associated with cancer and smaller brains - and remember if you do something that is bad for you do something that detoxify and is good for you

I had multiple concussions playing girl’s soccer in the 90’s before anyone knew that head injuries could severely affect the brain. I would love to raise awareness because “psychiatric illness/mental illness is literally a brain illness, like any other physical illness. I’ve been told to “get over it”, way too many times in my 40 years on this planet. It is about nutrition, supplementation, exercise, talk therapy, meditation/prayer/faith, environment, and if necessary medication.

Lewis, I’ve watched you hone your craft over the last several years. But he was left with brain/head injury due to the lack of oxygen. I can't wait to show him this video because the doctors told him that his brain would age prematurely.(that when he's 45, his brain would act as if it was 65). I kept trying to tell him that the specialists did NOT know much about our brains, in the nineties, they know so much more, now. Thanks for the great conversation!

You may be able to contact any of Dr. Amen's 9 US clinics or through his website to see if you can arrange to send your brain scan results to him for a personal evaluation. He may be willing to see & meet with you via a telemedicine office visit using video conferencing over the internet. Especially now during the pandemic & for those who are too sick or disabled to travel for an in-person office visit. You are fortunate to live in Canada where I understand your country provides free medical care to its citizens. I would have to personally pay about $10,000 to have a PET scan done on my brain, which I can not afford. Since neither medicare nor my private health ins. company would not cover the cost because it is so expensive & not deemed a medical necessity. It shouldn't cost you anything to get more info. & contact them over the Internet. I wish you good luck & well wishes from the U.S. God bless you & take care.

I'm going to send this talk out as my e- Christmas card. I found Dr. A about 9 yrs ago on pbs. The talk saved my life since I was able to put my foot down and take sugary treats out of my parents diet. 3 months later there was a remarkable improvement in their cognition. Words could not express my gratitude

The work you are doing is amazing, I wish I had seen your videos earlier. The mental health system is broken in the uk, it's all wrong, my sister took her own life this year after struggling all her life with severe mental illness. All she ever wanted was help, I think it would have helped her so much to understand that it wasn't her but her brain that was unwell. I think she just felt like she was a bad person, but she wasn't she was ill and didn't know how to help her mental illness. Never once did the mental health team engage with the family even though it is all about care in community, how can families help when they haven't got the tools to understand how to. Your work is reverlutionary and makes so much sense. It's treatment in the dark at the present. Can you tell me have you got any clinics or people following your work in the uk. Becky

Thank You Louis for this powerful, information packed interview with Dr Amen. My adult son told me about this one and he was at the dr today to get, brain scan, sleep tests as he had lots of physical traumas in his teenage years. I am very grateful for all your work informing us of the latest research and influencers you are a guiding light of inspiration in a world full of junk culture.💖🌟🤗

Dr Amen is one of my top 5 favorite guests. I love that he mixes science with belief systems, physical health with brain health, and soul health. By the way, Dr Szasz wrote The Myth of Mental Illness in the late 50s, early 60s, which ended up being banned from our Psych curriculum.
