Nicole Enearu and Kerri Harper-Howie often hear people say “I didn’t know Black people owned McDonald’s…I didn’t know women owned McDonald’s.” After their mother Patricia Williams got started running McDonald’s franchises in the 1980s, these two sisters now own all of the golden arches on display in Compton, California. NBCLX Storyteller Cody Broadway spoke to them about building a business and giving back to their community.

Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffle is famous so darn good. In the City of Compton California ALL the McDonalds are owned by a black family. Now the two sisters run all the McDonalds. One of the sisters is an attorney. Their mother is awesome.

As a former resident of Compton CA, we moved to Compton in January 1961, there was what appeared to be a once McDonald’s but there was no name on the building “McDonald's. I was in the third grade and my question is “when did original McDonald's open and then close? I have seen a photo taken in 1981 of what the building looked like even back in 1961, nothing changed. Curious about the date when it first opened.

I love this...True Role Models...Thanx for sharing Ladies...one day, I'd love for yall to visit our Church...we're located at 568 West Compton Blvd, Compton CA...we meet Sundays at 330pm and Tuesdays at 830pm
