I like the idea to play without the jetpack. We tried once with friends but they got annoyed very quickly and now it is hard to convince them again :D

@@shouldb.studying4670 while true I find it hard for me to stick to new communities where you don’t know anyone. Those Discords ending up muted forever by me as I don’t feel any connection. My favorite part about multiplayer games is communication between the players, but while with my friends I can be talking all the time, with strangers I just listen.

@@LucaTheGuide thanks I have also made a base that is almost 50000 block which is also up in the workshop as I build it in a Survival which could be an idea for a showcase the name of it is EP Corporation Headquarters

A setup I like is where the platform is meant for salvaging rather than welding. When salvaging without any ship, ship internals and sometimes heavier armor can fill up my inventory almost instantly requiring me to take lots of trips back and forth. But what is possible is using a platform (like Wellingtons but maybe smaller with only a grinder and a connector) and a large grid with a spherical gravity generator and some collectors. I can then leave the connector on Throw Out mode and the parts will be sent to the storage automatically without me having to make trips back. This means the platform can be very light and very small since it does not need any additional storage and therefore also does not have to support additional cargo weight meaning less thrusters and less batteries/H2 tanks

Oo, that does sound interesting x3 good point, that is indeed a problem when salvaging a ship on jetpack c= I usually just park my ship nearby and grind the whole ship xD but yeah I guess it makes sense if you just want the internals

Great video, thank you so much for reviewing my build and your kind words towards not only my ship, but the other two as well. Access can indeed be a problem from the ground, but you can jump straight into the control console from the side, or I just park with the nose up if making a quick pit stop on the ground. I did try to install a ladder, long story short, the ship is basically 4 block high, a ladder is 5 blocks and it was worth the effort. If you Watch Mr Wellingtons Series It Explains His Use of the Platform and why No ladder.. He Mainly mounts it by ramp "spot it lives in" and U can reach the controls from the side pulling you in.. Just a FYI🙂 Cheers

Looks like the vanilla trade station connectors would be a walkable docking setup for that rig, where you have a LG connector with a catwalk on top of it.

The idea behind the magnetic plate on the second platform is to lock onto the superstructure of whatever ship you are welding and no have to use the thruster and empty the batterie, it great in high grav environment

good for Alien and Pertam to be sure, and turns cranes into more of a...trophy? Fun side challenge? Idk but it keeps things fairly simple.

Cranes are certainly interesting c= maybe they're more useful in servers without thrusters? o: like the rovers only servers x3

@@LucaTheGuide crane are more useful but they are limited by their range. I told you before but you should check Splitsie Survival impossible serie, he imposed himself to leave on a high gravity planet with almost no backpack and low amount of ressources

@@LucaTheGuide Ye. Hmm.. You mean like a series of roleplay? Or like a staged movie? I imagined a.. nyam nyam. Kind of like not cyberpunkish, but like a space ship repair garage. Into that kind of roleplay, it would fit nicely. Some guy parks with a broken ship, and fixing it. Or having a main transport, taking 4 of these ships for building a skyscrapper. Then, when you arrive, all 4 de-docks, and just goes to wörk wörk. Ye. It fits really nicely in every kind of roleplay. It's very nice. c:

For servers where the inventory is set so you can't fit the engine from passenger airliner in your fanny pack these kind of built tools seem ideal; by having character inventory turned up all the way this entire layer of gameplay is eliminated. The engineering balance of maneuverability and cargo capacity are interesting gameplay challenges as would be storing and protecting these tools on your ships and bases. I'd like to see the aesthetic of the 2nd one wrapped around the function of the first one.

Good point c= I guess there are servers out there where the inventory size is set to realistic x3 kinda wish more servers would do that, and yeah same personally even though I like Wellington's work platform best for its functionalities the second ship by Bolland just looks nicer imo u wu

@Fleischerei it becomes a different challenge as survival engineering means it is far more convenient to design and build small grid tool vehicles like in this video rather than playing Creative Lite^tm with massive character capacity for Hydrogen and Components. I'd much rather play servers where vehicle cargo is mid and character cargo capacity is low

@@rebaav last couple of years we played x1 ship and x10 character size, so it always felt like there is no need for utility ships. Our gameplay usually was: 1. Build a platform 2. Build a miner 3. Build a large grid ship 4. End the game like there is nothing more to it So, I might want to convince friends to try this setup instead for our once-per-year-in-February Space Engineers experience (we played each year starting in 2018)

I agree, I probably could have put more cargo on mine. Though, my workflow is a bit different, I like to make excuses for myself to build as many different ships as I can think of. This platform would be for small jobs like "Oh, I need to add one more wind turbine" or "Oh I gotta go repair that turret that got shot up" and the classic "I should go grab that unknown signal real quick". If I'm doing bigger repair or building jobs I tend to have a dedicated welding ship.

The Wellington is fine if you only get on or off of it after dockinging with a connector. The height puts you flush with the top of a large grid connector.

The third platform might be very useful as a guardpost or a high vantage point, considering it seems to be designed for multiple people to spend more time on it, and it has a searchlight. That would also mean that the lower cargo capacity isn't as much of a problem, since ammunition or other consumables are more useful for standing guard.

Lol, the big platform has seating for hecklers that can critique your welding job while you work. Alternately, seating for up to three judges for a competitive welding show.

I made a nice looking one of these once. It was built on pertam but I lost the blue print because I had to wipe save game date because of a bug that would let the game open (xbox) that I had a few times before

Also random idea... pimp my ship colab with blackarmour where you (reluctantly) give him some small amount of pcu, like 300pts or something, and he uses it to detail that pvp beast you bang around in 🤔

The "helm" is the only cockpit in which you can not use build from cockpit (ctrl+g)

I would be using one right now but I haven't been able to build thrusters yet and when I try to add mods, the game crashes, so I have to wait until I can get my new computer up and running.

For that amount of PCU you can make a pretty bare bones welding ship and small batteries are basically a waste unless they're necessary for an art build

Yeah if you're really limited on PCU it's best to just use a purely welding ship like I mentioned in the video c=

It's rare to find server with weaken jet pack on planets, but the last server I tried had it also has other crap that just make the game super slow like practically no resources, no dismantling, solar is shit, wind only happens if the storm comes...

Luca Could you make a space engineers creative , exploits allowed(exept godmode) ,supergridding allowed , script allowed , no suiting , no spawning in turret range server. Ik Rumorsqad exist but we need another similar server so ppl are not dependent on rsg

I think your issue with those stairs has to do with the current planet your on, as the alien world is quite..... HEAVY with it's gravity well

I dont really like work platforms they never have enough cargo capacity and you have to go back to resupply every 2 min, even without a jetpacks playthrough, I build a welding ship with a large cargo. if I need to do something by hand in those cases, I just place the cockpit in a place where exiting will put me on top of the ship

I do that too mostly c= just a pure welding ship, though a hybrid approach might be interesting x3
