Totally agree, I wasn't familiar with the term "spec work" but all I was thinking during that segment of the video is that this is so exploitative.

How so though? He's asking the general public to create packaging ideas for him which is the exact same as hiring a designer, he's not forcing anyone to. They can choose to submit their work, or not. As of right now he made the promise to pay for their work if it's chosen and he made that clear. So if people choose to enter, their assuming the risk of not being chosen, plus like someone else said its good exposure for new artists or undiscovered talent..I'm not sure how that's wrong?

I'm sure whatever artist he could hire already has the social exposure, him choosing a random person gives an opportunity for exposure to artists that haven't taken off yet. He made it clear that he'd only pay the persons work he chooses, so if people are putting their time into this, they know what the risk is and that's on them. If people are willingly submitting their work to him, its implied that their okay with that.

It's real rich that Shane, with his wide head and history of bad hygiene, would even bring up anyone else's grossness. (His wide head doesn't have anything to do with what we're talking about, I just hate his face after finding out how weird he was around kids)
