@Naraku-no-Hana-WE
@Naraku-no-Hana-WE 2 жыл бұрын
@@klytouch7515 well actually in order to become Shogun you have to be able to trace your family lineage to an Imperial relative, meaning you have to have some amount of Imperial/divine blood. That's why Toyotomi couldn't become Shogun despite multiple attempts to get adopted into an Imperial family. The Emperor really became a figurehead because he had divided his powers up amongst the senior members of his court (including Shoguns) until he basically had no power left. Ironically this identical process was happening to the Ashikaga Shoguns in the Sengoku Jidai as their powers were being usurped by the most powerful of their vassal clans.

@@alishermukhametkali9230 Technically Hideyoshi still served under the Oda clan even if he held all real power in Japan. Probably no one in the Sengoku Jidai embodies Gekokujo more than Matsunaga Hisahide. He seized control of the Matsunaga of Yamato clan, elevated himself from a lowly vassal of Miyoshi to their chief strategist and right hand man, openly defied the Miyoshi's masters in the Hosokawa, had two Shoguns murdered in their own home, and later rebelled twice against Oda Nobunaga. Even in death he defied his superior denying Nobunaga both his head and his coveted tea pot.

I copied below from a different video. Nobunaga’s army was the first in history to use volley fire on a large scale in rotating ranks during Nagashino. The Dutch were the first to develop the same technique 30 years later in Europe. Nobunaga’s army had 3000 arquebuses in three ranks to defeat Takeda’s powerful cavalry. He hired and rewarded retainers based on skill and merit rather than family lineage which was common practice at the time. In turn he was able to assemble the brightest and most skilled retainers in all of Japan. Nobunaga was the first to mobilize a professional army. Traditionally foot soldiers were peasants and they couldn’t be away too long from their farms especially during harvest. Nobunaga’s army could deploy at a moments notice and fight anywhere anytime 24/7. He taxed more on commerce than agriculture which was unorthodox at the time. He was able to bring in more income this way. He also abolished road tariffs on shipped goods and built guard stations across his territories to protect merchants. This led to great wealth, capital, and prosperity. His navy was the first in history to use iron clad type ships with large gun emplacements in the battle of Kizugawaguchi. Just six of these large ships were able to penetrate Mori’s naval force of about 600 vessels. Another is Azuchi castle was the first to have a Tenshukaku or keep which was influenced by structures with belvederes in Europe. The castle was so revolutionary he had tours. He was atheist which was unheard of for a Daimyo and loved European culture. It’s said he was the first samurai to wear western clothes. He greatly supported art and cultural festivities. He was so unique for the time period not just in Japan.

When learning about world history in a us class. We barley talk about Oda Nobunaga, even when the teacher says "where going to learn about the age of Samurai" we only learn about the aftermath of the great Sengoku Jidai and instead are learning about it's end and learn only about Hidyoshi and Tokugawa. I try to advocate this, any chance I can. It's important if to talk about a topic of a culture, it's important to understand the most influential piece of it's history. Like learning George Washington then moving on to Abe Lincoln and beyond. A man of legend and engnuity may the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven be remembered for his actions to pave for unification, a path his allies would carry his torch.

Interesting. I knew that Oda Nobutomo had Shiba Yoshimune killed, but I had read that Nobutomo then took shelter with and confessed the crime to Oda Nobunaga, who at the time was young enough that Nobutomo felt he could control. Nobunaga exposed the entire plot and had Nobutomo executed. For Komaki-Nagakute the battle was essentially a draw with Tokugawa Ieyasu coming out slightly ahead, but with the threat of the reforming Uesugi clan as well as the Hojo on Tokugawa's borders he recognized it was prudent to end the conflict and fall in line under Hideyoshi. As for Akechi Mitsuhide, many attribute his betrayal to the death of his mother under Nobunaga's orders. Personally I suspect Hideyoshi had a hand in it, but there's no way to know what really motivated him. Suffice to say Mitsuhide caught the two most important Oda figures and nearly had Tokugawa Ieyasu as well, which would have left Hideyoshi and Shibata Katsuie as the most prominent remaining opposition. I'm curious whether you think Oda Nobunaga would ever have become Shogun. There were of course questions of Nobunaga's lineage, there were some accusations that he had forged a critical link in his family tree. However I suspect it was only a matter of time before the Imperial Court accepted his lineage and then would Nobunaga have taken the title of Shogun or would he have refused it?

I wonder what these guys reaction would be if they played Samurai Warrior games using their own characters. Would they think its accurate and would they be like "Doesn't sound like me" or "Wow, I look even better"

Do you have any information on the minor battles between the Oda and the Azai? I'm looking for anything beyond Anegawa , Yokoyamajo, Odanijo, and the initial engagement when the Azai help the Asakura. The minor battles are neglected, there are several castles in the area never mentioned and betrayals of Azai retainers that can't be traced on line. The Rokkaku are known to have resisted Oda's march on Odanijo and Yokoyamajo but little to no information on whom ,when ,and how. His march through koga and Omi in general are missing. This major period Oda's campaigns seems missing.

The lesson is to not be rebellious and violent. Be peaceful and not seem like a threat and people will be far more receptive to the message. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Never heard of the Shiba clan before this. With them ruling over Shinano no wonder that province devolved into such a mess. Did Northern Japan become a mess because of a similar situation as well?

Actually I have been investigating and there was a branch of the shiba in northern japan which is renowned for kicking the shit out of clans like the nanbu during the 1520s-1550s

@@yoshimitsu8922 they did die but it was like at the tail end of the sengoku jidai after they got a pissy ruler. But they were actually the dominant power in ou to some extent for a while.
