A lot of you have asked for Rachael to try and recreate some old Sorry Girls DIYs, so she took on the challenge of recreating some of the most iconic ones in the stash. Mason jars, copper piping and neon signs used to be ALL the rage, so Rach tried modernizing them up a bit and putting her own twist to these DIYs.

I had no idea I’d been following tsg for so long. I remember watching some of those videos when they came out and I was in MIDDLE SCHOOL at that time. And I’m about to graduate university in a month 😭😭😭

Lol, I remember all of these! I started watching TSG when I was going through my cancer treatments in 2012! BECAUSE, I was helping my daughter find Halloween costume ideas & TSG popped up when I searched 😊 And I got hooked lol. I Still have their patches on my jean jacket 😂 Just realized when I saw this episode that I've been watching for TEN years 😯. I dont usually comment but thought I should after so long. Congrats on your growth & longevity, ladies (& mine 😂😁💪).

The copper handles look great, but I would recommend coating them in a clear protective laquer or something similar. Some kinds of copper patina can be toxic and you probably don't want that on your hands!

@@TINYCHAVEZ11 if she uses a clear resin, it shouldn't ruin it. Even a modpodge would probably work

It feels like it just makes more sense to create the patina effect on something you're not going to be touching all the time. Like a display piece.

This was a very cute video! Thank you Rachel for celebrating The Sorry Girls’ growth, but also appreciating where they were at when the started! When I saw the preview I was worried this video would be mean spirited, but it was very sweet and a pleasure to watch!

that glass breaking using hot and cold water works very well. even when you're not prepared for it. do not do this with a glass baking pan that you accidentally leave in the ovan as it preheats and then take it out and have it in contact with cold water. really cool video. the trip down memory lane and the different version of a SG classic is really cool

this gets very random but this reminded me of a little story. a few years ago, on christmas eve, my dad took an empty glass baking pan/dish thing out of the oven and immediately ran it under cold water and it shattered, literally exploded. he ended up stepping on a small piece of glass and when he pulled his sock off to remove the glass, the glass came out with the sock, when I tell you I was cracking up lmao.

Looooved this revamp of DIY’s! I might try them. Just a question about the silicone light strip, how do I use the rest of the strip once I’ve cut it off? Maybe you could make a short video on this, please? I’m scared to cut it and then not knowing how to use the rest of the strip 😓

You usually can not Re-use the part you cut off as it has no Power supply. Once its cut, its off to land in the trash, unfortunately. So always try to buy the length that is closest to what you will actually need.

@@katl6428 power supplies can be bought seperately and if you're not confident in soldering the led strips yourself, you could always give it away to someone who can. it's a perfectly working component and does not need to be thrown away

Rachael!! You killed these makeovers!! But I’m particularly obsessed with the remake of the neon sign. WOW!! Gives the effect while not getting hot and no risk of glass breaking!! I’ve never wanted to DIY something faster!

I was thinking the same, it's basically verdigris - honestly I don't think you can have issues unless you ingest it, but I'd still rather not touch it, even just because it may still rub under your fingers and stain things around you

I am genuinely impressed and just realizing that the TSG has grown and mature with their audience, that's not easy, I have stopped watching many channels because I simply outgrown them but the TSG showing different stages in their life now as homeowners and also adding more faces to the mix, I think they really diversify their audience . Liver of sulphur is a great patina and it works a lot faster . Plus you can get it in a gel like state so you can really paint it on.

I loved the updated neon sign. With LED strips being so popular, I think it's such a relevant DIY right now :) although personally the oxidized copper is my favourite *look* I love that so much

Rachel, re: mason jar crafts. Any homesteader or Southern homemaker uses mason jars for all sorts of things. 😊 have done for decades. Also, I really love the copper handles

Loving the updated DIYs. And funny enough, I have a set of vintage swag glass lamps that look very similar to that mason jar light. They have a very similar mold/texture to the glass.

The one thing I learned is that I've been watching this channel since 2015 apparently. I really liked the remake on the sign and the Mason jar light. Not a huge fan of the copper patina it's just way too much patina to me. I generally like copper just the way it is but that's me.
