@@debbiegrasse3920 In one of the ejections, the player threw the official off himself - you do not make intentional contact with an official. The one where #51 was ejected, he was lucky not to be also flagged for verbal abuse of the referee.

@@KaiserBruh Jeff Perry even said this when he ejected Dante Wesley for a flagrant hit on Clifton Smith (as Smith attempted a fair catch): "That player, by virtue of his actions, is disqualified from further particpation." That would be the best way to say it.

Lifelong Packer fan here. I LAUGHED when Randy Moss "mooned" the fans at Lambeau. The Packers passed him up in the '98 draft for one Vonnie Holliday (who?), then passed on him at least twice in free agency as well. Now he's a Hall-of-Famer.

The umpire used to be the official who stood just behind the defensive line (now he's behind the offensive line, on the other side of the quarterback from the referee). Their primary responsibility was, and is, watching the line play for holding. They had to be tough because the flow of play came right at them as often as not.

Never cared much for the "disqualified" label, "ejected" sounds better, but even stronger sounding to me would be: "# xx has been vomited from the game. His actions have made us sick."

My favorite player ejection ever was #54 of the Dallas Cowboys, Manster, Randy White. He got into a tussle with a Chicago player and Randy yanked his helmet off. A second Bear joined in and Randy whacked him with the helmet. The official threw his flag at Randy. He stared down the official and walked away. Randy was interviewed in the locker room by a reporter who asked, "What do you have to say about ripping off a player's helmet and using it as a weapon?" He replied in true Randy fashion, "He's lucky that his head wasn't still in it." I believe that this was the year that the Bears won the Super Bowl.
