i dont even bother pirating ubisoft or EA games. im not consciously boycotting them. it just naturally happened as a result of their games being trash. Too many other good options to spend my time and money on. Their games are not even worth pirating. We will buy nothing and be happy about it. 70 dollars for a game is pretty outrageous, especially when you get games like helldivers 2 for forty. Sure helldivers 2 might not have a story, but the game looks beautiful and no different from any AAA game in presentation. Plus they are adding things for free constantly. I really don't get the justification for paying 70 dollars towards a game that maybe gives you 50 hours of fun, and most of it is likely due to filler.

3:50 there is some truth to it if my memory serves me correctly. That mess effect (prequal?) game did exactly that for exactly that reason. They showed their initial gameplay footage, got some backlash because their main character (fem) was "too hot" and then on final release she was "toned down" on the objectification front. Problem was that the first version looked nearly identical to the actress vs the final release that was just uncanny. I am not a woman, and I'm not gorgeous, so I can only speculate but if I played a character in a game, and everyone else got doppelgangers but they made my avatar deliberately "uglier" because I was too pretty, I'd be pretty freaking insulted.

I swear the star wars IP should be given to smaller devs like Larian Studios or CD projekt red as example. Ubisoft lost its spark with their cookie cutter open world games ages ago. Give a chance and investment into a developer that has shown they are competend and passionate to create a game everyone wants to have. I hope the initial sells will send a clear idea to Ubisoft and their weird practices.

Some games drop with season passes day 1... But an EXCLUSIVE mission on day 1 tied to that SAME season pass? Yeah, that's a HUGE no-no. And even the season pass on day 1 is a little scummy. At least wait a month or something then go "hey, what do you think about DLCs or something? We've got some ideas we could cook with. You guys want that or nah?" and THEN release the season pass based on the answers.

I think there is that one thing everyone is equally upset about. The absolutely ridiculous pricing. $110 minimum for the "complete" game. You got to fork out $40 extra to get DLC they cut that is ready day one, purely so they could sell it to you for more money. A subscription service they so desperately want you to adopt so you never get to own any games, while they get to sell you microtransactions for games you subscribe to access and don't own. Ubisoft is the worst company in gaming right now if you ask me. They've been bad for a good while, they are even the reason trailers have to disclaimer things being in-engine and so on after Watch Dogs sold a lie, but this is a whole other level. They are worse than stinky old EA now. They are worse than milk-snatching Blizzard. I'll stick to playing older games I got and I'll only buy games that come out in a state like Baldur's Gate 3 did, pretty d-mn complete and without any microtransactions and DLC garbage. They have even updated it above and beyond what they needed to.

Funny. When they did this "game-as-an-online-service" crap to _Splinter Cell: Conviction_ back in 2010, there didn't seem to be nearly as much brouhaha. And that was a single-player stealth game. There was *_ZERO_* reason to *_REQUIRE_* an internet connection to play that game. _Splinter Cell: Double Agent_ (the previous title) from 2006 was the last Ubisoft product I ever bought. Or ever _will_ buy. Where has everybody else been?

I just feel horrible for the developers of the game, putting a lot of love and effort into it only to see it destroyed by greedy suits.

I miss when star wars hired gaming companies that really understood the undertones of the star wars series from top yo bottom. This big companies just like making a quick buck with visuals and trailers. Why has such a popular franchise failed its fans in the gaming world for so long?. There are plenty of cannon and creative minds to deliver the content properly. I hope some day we get a game that allows us to create a Jedi, bounty hunter, clone, etc in our own image, abilities that pertain to class but allow us to be creative. Similar to cyberpunks level up system, with open world with surprises like Skyrim and perhaps they add the nemesis system from Shadow of War.

Wish people would actually boycott their purchase instead of succumbing to wanting to play a new game and buy it anyways. DONT BUY IT

The price tag is of little importance to me, i would pay for a game that met all my wants, that being said just sticking star wars on what is basically just a shooter game isnt for me. the force , jedi and sith these are the things that make star wars at least for me if i want to play a decent open world shooter type game then i will just replay RDR2 like i have many times before.

Another sad thing is that one of my fave YTubers JackFrags got paid to shovel this game to his audience with 0 fucks given about Ubisoft horrendous business practices and anti-consumer behavior.

Honestly I hope this game turns out well. We’ve never really gotten a game that covers the Star Wars Organized Crime Genre especially a open world one. I just feel like personally in my opinion Ubisoft dropped the ball on the game with not adding a custom character maker. Especially for an open world game like don’t get me wrong I have no problem with playing as a female character just personally it would’ve been cool to be able to make your own character especially for a game such as this. But I’m definitely holding my breathe on this game because after all it is Ubisoft.

I think the dialogue is one of the worst things I ever heard at least from the trailer. If the dialogue is supposed to be like a 70s porno, they at least got that right. I'm not buying a game that costs 140 dollars just to have cosmetics and early access either.

I used to be such a hardcore Star Wars fan but situations like this where the IP is mistreated really made me distance myself away from a franchise I’ve stuck with my entire life. These companies continue to destroy the Star Wars brand and it’s sad to see.

Star Wars was officially finished in April 2014. That's when Disney made the Expanded Universe noncanon. There's a very important distinction to be made. Disney Star Wars is hideous. I love the REAL Star Wars. The Expanded Universe is the _real_ canon, regardless of whatever fucking suit tries to say otherwise. Now, I will say, there are _some_ bright spots to be found. However, I just can't say with a straight face that enough of Disney Star Wars is good enough to be the superior canon. Especially considering that, from the inception of and to the end of the Expanded Universe, Lucasarts took surprisingly great care to make the universe cohesive between writers. That stories were not allowed to contradict other stories by other writers and obviously not the movies. And then Disney just erases... What, 30? 28? years of established lore for the puke they came up with?

Beyond the somewhat shady business practices for this game and the comments made by Ubisoft, the game looks decent. My only qualm is that it kinda looks like another Action Adventure game rather than more Open World RPG styled game (similar in many ways to how the 2 Jedi games operate)... A somewhat linear story path... I could be wrong... I would much rather see a game that takes some of the Action Adventure styled game play and mix it with how SWTOR handles story... Or at least a more open, play as you want, do stuff in the order you want, non-rails based game... I don't really want a rollercoaster ride where I make a few decisions now and then, but I'm still strapped to the coaster chair when it comes to how the game throws everything at me in a mostly linear way... Super linear games like the 2 Jedi games have little to no replay value beyond raising the difficulty rating next time... Where as, more open games allow far more variation in how you can play through the content... High Replay value and a really fun story, are key to a really good game in my book... As to the controversy, honestly, I don't really care if the characters look or don't look like their voice actors... As long as the character looks decent, that is all that matters to me... Sometimes I think folks look for any possible patterns or reasons to latch onto what they feel could lead to a controversy, even when there was no sinister plot or purposeful design on the part of the developers, in order to be the first ones to initiate drama where none may have actually existed... Is this one of those cases? For the game itself, I doubt it... For the game companies business practices when it comes to game costs and the whole season junk (a trend I find super annoying across the whole gaming industry) and the internet required junk (you would think that when Diablo 3 got ridiculed Hard for it's internet requirement that the industry would see that a majority of folks don't want that, especially if it's a single player game), while I understand some of it, most of it I call shenanigans...

Ok- im going to say this, the game should have a male or female option. There are very few times i think games benifit from not allowing you to pick a diffrent gendered player character to reflect what you want to play However, im so fucking sick and tired if the "they made her ugly!!". When i first saw the player character i went "she's kinda cute!!!". I, as a woman, often play men in video games because i dont feel like walking around in a runway-model looking player character. It pisses me off, because in most settings, it takes me out of the game. Im walking around in some grungy ass area and then-oop! There's me! Perfecly flawless face and an ass size they didnt let me reduce!! Im not saying women should not be pretty in games. Women in games should be allowed to have pretty faces, nice boobs, nice asses. However, i see people calling game characters ugly in games just for not being SUPERMODELS and it pisses me off Edit: to make this more obvious, aka I have an issue with both people who act like pretty but not "super-model" esk characters are trolls, AND with developers (often women), who make these characters to have some 'win' against the men instead of, perhaps, I don't know, trying to make a female character women would enjoy playing and would relate to.
