I think in terms of the synergy between the lightsaber and its wielder, Vader is nigh unmatched in the construction of his lightsaber, this guy built himself back up (pun intended) from the ground up to be the greatest duelist in all of Star Wars despite the limitations of his suit, Darth Vader is a monster with an indomitable will and unrivaled bloodlust

Anakin / Vader was an amazing engineer, hence why modifying his lightsaber wasn’t fraught with danger as it may have been for the majority of other Jedi/Sith

I still believe Dooku has the coolest lightsaber ever. It has similarities to Vader’s in that his saber can change length and favours functionality over style with no electrum being used, but Dooku’s curved hilt already made duelling him awkward, especially when coupled to his insane skills in lightsaber combat.

The idea that Vader had to change his fighting style to protect his chest has the flaw that EVERYONE's weak spot is in their chest.

Vader was a beast and absolute powerhouse with lightsaber. And with his skill in the Force he was unmatched by anyone. He was amazingly strong. He used mix Jem-So,Makashi,Soresu perfectly. His strokes were amazing and precise. Few moves to defeat opponent. I think he learned of Ezra Kun as Anakin. Palpatine gave him some manuscripts too. It's natural he wanted to use organic crystal. Thank you for this video... I now want to get Ultrasabers' Darth Vader inspired design because I want it to be accurately massive, even if it's not screen accurate.

Everything about Vader is badass both pre-suit and after no doubt. When Maul debuted the double bladed saber, that was the baddest saber at that time and then the we found out that it was looked down by the best swordsmen in both orders. I got excited when Obi-Wan threw Anikin an extra saber and was quickly let down by his defeat by Dooku. Ahsoka redeemed that concept with the soto saber. In my opinion I like Cal Kestis saber with the detachable saber as it holds true to singular saber combat while giving a second saber when needed like Ahsoka. Also Luke stated that they never gave him a second saber. If Luke digs it, I dig it. So my list so far is: Cal Kestis, Vader, Ahsoka, Dooku, Maul, Windu and Kylo Ren.

At heart, regardless of his identity, the man was an Engineer. He liked the construction of mechanical things, refining them until they were efficient as possible. Naturally he would be a lightsaber gearhead too.

Its kinda cool that Vader's lightsaber form is a combination of the 3 most combatively influential; people in his life. Form 5 (Anakin) Form 3 (Obi-Wan) and Form 2 (Dooku). Albeit with a pinch of Form 7 thrown in for good measure.

Darth Vader(with his final lightsaber) is similar to Anakin's 2nd lightsaber, with differences, and more black color, because an enginering being like the Chosen one will create pinnacle level features on the lightsaber; his buttons has dual-phase function, it makes his blade like a longsword and switch to saber like size(scapel) quickly during combat, 2 dual-phase focusing crystals are included. Every lightsaber has a power cell(battery chamber) blade adjusting for power and length at least one main crystal a jedi finds one focusing crystal(somehow from someone); Every single lightsaber at least have 2 crystals. Can there be 3 crystals in one?

I saw a post someone made about Darth Vader that really got me thinking and it made sense so here goes. Anakin never really said he quit the Jedi Council when he betrayed them, it was implied because of his actions. The Jedi Council never really said he was no longer a Jedi after his betrayal, again it was implied and the Jedi were also being decimated by Order 66. Therefore, after Yoda died, technically Darth Vader was both a Lord of the Sith AND the last Grand Master of the Jedi Order.

I want a revamp but of two different continuations : - 1 - Where Anakin remains with the Light and balances the Force through this path but what i wish for more is 2 - Where Anakin still goes darkside but however is never subjected to the suit of Vader, ultimately becomes twice as powerful as Sidious as originally intended, and shows the true extent he could have been taken with the Dark side.

I always find it amusing that Vader didn't bother to protect his chest area. A simple piece of armour over that area would seem to be obvious.

I'd like to point out that most of us have our main weakness in the middle of our chest...lol....I don't know if that is really what made Vader adjust his style. I'd say his heavy suit in general and not being able to feel his arms and legs with the force was a bigger deal.

I wouldn't want to be hit my even a 30 pound bow. 35 pounds is hunting capable, up to small deer. Primitive pathways did a penitration test with a 40 pound bow and a stone tipped arrow on a deer and that was impressive. You don't need much to do alot

Vader’s lightsaber harkened back to the strengths, struggles and hardships of his life as Anakin Skywalker, as a slave and mechanical tinkerer. The tuning mechanism is awesome, and only someone of his background could get it right.

It is not the blade that is important. Far more important is the user no matter how well constructed the blade is, the user isn't skilled enough to use it, the user at best will be defeated in light saber combat, and worst killed. Siddious had beautiful light sabers that were well constructed, and that didn't keep him from being thrown down the shaft by Vader. The point is that if one doesn't have the opportunity to use it no matter how well constructed it is, t's useless.

Anakin may have lost his limbs but he was smarter than the average bear

A dirty trick to turn off and on a lightsaber will always be the worst explanation for why nobody does that during combat. To me it just seems like a less effective tactic since it does take a second for the blade to fully emit when activated that's time when one is undefended and thus more open to attack, and since you'd be mid swing when your opponent shut off their blade your momentum would continue your swing through them while they're trying to turn their saber back on.

I would assume that Vader's choice in crystal for his sabre came down to the difference in the way the light and dark access the force. The dark side doesn't usually need an organic crystal as they're not limited by the Jedi rules on what is and isn't forbidden practice. Vader, being more machine than man needed the organic crystal to help him focus the force and supplement what power he'd lost on Mustafar. The fact that his son needed to adapt and convert an artificial crystal while using the light side is quite poetic.

Excellent video. I like the Legends version as opposed to the non-canon comic version. Echoing what was stated earlier, I appreciate it when Vader’s immense power is given it’s due. His weapon reflects that power. I like Rogue One Vader. I like “Lords of the Sith” novel Vader. In other words, unstoppable Sith power. Yes, he’s a cyborg. More machine than man. But so was “The Six Million Dollar Man”. Col. Austin was rebuilt BETTER than a human being. Why can’t this apply to Darth Vader as well? We’re dealing with 20th Century Earth Sci-Fi vs. hyperspace-capable, interplanetary travel Sci-Fi. Darth Vader SHOULD be depicted as better, stronger, and faster (“Lords of the Sith” did this). Vader’s telekinesis should be able to stop Force Lightning attacks. And he should be able to conjure Force Lightning AROUND his mechanical limbs. Vader is written inconsistently, and George Lucas did the character no favors with the 80%/200% argument. I think Vader has evolved beyond that. Let’s see……fans LOVED Rogue One, where Vader annihilated Rebel Scum with abandon. Fans LOATHED the Kenobi series, where Obi-Wan suddenly evolved “super force” abilities to overwhelm Vader after first getting trounced. Great vid. We like our Vader unstoppable. We don’t like him getting fried and dismembered by the Emperor like in the comics.

Dooku’s is still better… also the last part about Luke’s Crystal vs Vaders I have to say that Luke had no choice but to make one for himself cause most crystals were purged after the rise of the empire who used it for the death star while Vader chose to use a real crystal because he had access to it
