In this video, we will be showing you, in what we believe to be the first video guide, how to instal Pure Turbos brand new Pure 500 on an F87 M2 powered with the N55.
This video guide is going to be especially helpful on RWD models sporting the N55 but will also give you good insights on the xdrive models.

Went with a pure 750 for my 2018 M2 LCI and it was the best thing and gave me some headroom. I make 600whp with flex fuel and 520whp on 93oct. The n55b is an amazing engine.

Are you on stock internals? I’ve been wanting to replace my turbo but nobody seems to talk about how much power it can hold without internals

@@Andknigh what model bmw and what year are you an EWG or PWG N55? I am in stock internals but I’m in a 2018 M2 LCI with the n55b 30t0 which received forged internals from the s55. So it has a bit more power and is a bit beefier. I’ve had no issues and car runs like an absolute dream.

@@kaiichinose9590 I have a 17 pre lci m2 im pretty sure they didn’t change anything powertrain wise from pre lci to lci if im not mistaken

@@Andknigh then you should be good to go. I haven’t had a single issue but I was very picky about parts and install and tune. Made sure it was dialed in. Been running like a champ.

N55 definetely is a great engine. We have a stock internals standard N55 in our shop 435 making 550WHP on stock internals with no issues at all. 116K miles on the clock with about 20K on this build

Why would this not be an option for xdrive? I have a 2012 535 xdrive and was thinking about going with this turbo.

Different drivetrain since your all wheel drive meaning you’ll probably have limited room and access the the turbo and might have to remove subframe and other things as well

It works on x drive as well but this install guide only applies to the rwd model. For xdrive, you need to support the engine, remove a motor mount, and possible drop the turbofold as well.

yes you CAN be safe but wouldn’t recommend pushing it like that as the real differences between this and the stock turbo is the top end so thats where it could possibly have some issues

Who tuned your car and how much psi were you pushing it?

@samsam_f87 I was running 19-20 psi max on a 91 pump gas tune. I had just bought an mhd flex analyzer and N20 T map but she started leaking before I could install it lol. Tune was done by a pretty well known and respected tuner 🙂

Great video thanks but cant help but feel missed opportunity to put the turbos side by side to see the differences! This install is probably thr Dinan method also? I think id want a bmw specialist to install it, my local garage is VAG mostly and havent done an N55 turbo swap before. Love the idea of the pure 500 as my car is my daily and dont want spool lag

Your the firsttt; on the fence about investing in a ps2 or saving the $ and doing pure 500 & dorch hpfp for reliability 2013 pwg 335i

Really depends on how easy of an install you want (if rwd anyways) and how much power you want to make. We have built multiple n55s to 530-540 whp on e85 with the pure stage 2. This particular customer did the tuning himself after the install so not sure how much power he made but he is also sticking with 93. This turbo is a good bang for your buck tho! In the same dilemma, friend of mine has pure500 and runs 7.6 100-200 with just 99ron fuel 22PSI peak, 19psi at redline

Thanks for the video! Been mulling over the pure 500 for quite some time, its a question of “when” , not “if” for my F30 335i PWG. If you weren’t making a video, how long would you estimate this install would take?

What exactly is your question?

Turbosmart is a blow off valve while pwg refers to the wastegate. Too different components.

@TheSundaeDrive Just got the 123511 Electric wastegate flap: sluggish code 😢 the shop said better to replace the whole turbo. I plan to do the pure 500 and gut it for track days and hillclimbs. Let’s give the ppl what they want and me that sponsor. 👀

This is my car actually, P500 was a significant upgrade over stock. Stock-like spool and with little drop even to redline. Virtual Dyno puts it over 500whp on an E50 OTS map. I think this is the best turbo upgrade for track use (excluding the expensive TTE460, which seems about equal performance wise)
