I needed a larger box to carry my collection of The Army Painter's Speedpaint bottles, so I retired the PortaPainter and built... THE MEGAPAINTER!
A follow-up video will come tomorrow that shows some of the more detailed work of creating the parts. Stay tuned.

I love how much this reminds me of my Gilbert Chemistry Set when I was a kid.

Considering everything you're going to fit in it it's clearly the Just-In-Case :P

Wow love your engineering thought process on this project. See how an idea can come reality. Great job 👏🎉

wow really nice work. You should add a water bottle to thin paints or clean your brushes

The blank space can be used for mini Citadel Paint pad, or maybe a Redgrass wet palette. Nice job

Yup, Citadel paints were my first thought, since I still have a few handfuls of those around.

Great design. Some ideas for your open space. A water container of some sort, paper towels (or rags), and perhaps some brush soap.

Already added a little tin of brush soap, and I bought a collapsible stainless steel cup to carry for water. A water bottle is a good idea, as is towels.

@@TheTabletopEngineer If possible and if it’s a reliable thing the cup could be a collapsible one. Just so you can have that space saving and travel aspect.

The empty space could be used for glue bottle holders (so they are not on their side) and maybe a palette. An army painter palette would fit nice as long as your don't want to reuse the paint. Or some cheap plastic or metal palettes

Certainly enough space for a wet pallette and a dry brush texture pallette. It could easily get chaotic if you overthink it though :-)

Pretty cool! Maybe a stain varnish for a better finish and for adding protection?

I love it. I think at least two more drawers. As @DanielAKA said, something specific for glue bottles/epoxy/putty, so they won't cause too much damage if they leak. And def a pallet, but disposable like mini paper plates and precut parchment sheets. Paper towels are a must, but a whole roll would take up too much space. And a brush cup is a must, but again maybe disposable? A mini cutting mat? (Is all that too much?)

I have a collapsible metal brush cup that is connected magnetically to the removable lid on top of the miniature holder. Also a magnetized tin of brush soap.

@@TheTabletopEngineer I never thought of brush soap. Good call, thanks!!!

Small design critique: appears that you could only use 28-35mm bases. Maybe 40mm….but not 50. Just commenting for design ideas. This is a great box
@TheTabletopEngineer
@TheTabletopEngineer 11 ай бұрын
Yeah, larger bases would have to be stored elsewhere.

What about selling one in kit form rather than prebuilt?

Oh, man... too much trouble. I used to sell kits of terrain and the sheer volume of questions and problems with assembly was crazy even with instructions provided.

Very nice. What software did you use to add the tabs? I'm getting a laser cutter soon and have some ideas for storage boxes and such and using tinkercad is probably the way I will go but would be good to know what I could use for the tabs. Thanks.
@TheTabletopEngineer
@TheTabletopEngineer 11 ай бұрын
I add the tabs manually in Inkscape. I haven't found an automated way that takes into account the thickness of the material so the tabs are cut in such a way they are auto-flushed to outside edge (if that makes sense).

How about sell it as a kit? Then put the assembly instructions on KZfaq.
