Teckin SB50 RGB Smart Bulbs Review & Setup | With Alexa and Google Home

I’m taking a look at some budget Teckin £12/$13 LED RGB smart light bulbs from Amazon, that can be controlled via an app or more usefully with you voice together with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and even via a workaround with Apple’s Siri.
So you can say, “Alexa, turn on the lights”. And you can control the brightness level and the colour too, all with basic voice commands.
The Teckin SB50 smart bulbs connect to your home WiFi network so you don’t need any additional hubs, and once set up they can be controlled even when you are out and about, using your mobile phone’s data connection, which is a handy security feature if you’re going to be back late for example.
Together with the Smart Plugs I looked at in a recent video, you can easily configure a basic smart home, combining multiple devices into groups to control them all at once.

Yes I have 2.4 and can get the bulb to flash fast, but can not get it to connect. I've tried slow flash and logged WiFi into bulb but notable to connect on S8

They can be a little fiddly to connect sometimes. If you've factory reset and it's still not working I'd contact their support ... Good luck.

when adding smart life to google we cant find it. Only Teckin is the only thing that populates. Please help

at about 5:30 in the video, when you're creating a group of lights, you move so fast through the screens that it's impossible to follow.,

Just about in white mode (not in any colour mode). We use one in a floor standing light.

hey i know i’m about a month late but the RGB modes aren’t super bright but look pretty darn good in the dark, if your trying to do RGB with light already in the room then maybe look for something else. the white mode is pretty bright tho

You should be able to set up a voice command for anything you can configure in the app as far as I remember.

When I screw the bulb in, it doesn't light up at all. I bought two packs and all 4 bulbs do the same. They have never lit up. Is there something I can do?

Very hard to say - they are unlikely to be the same version that I reviewed but have you tried turning the light switch on and off to trigger pairing?

Try going through the complete reset procedure including removing the bulbs from the app. That usually does it.

In the Smart Life app tap on the bulb, edit and scroll to the bottom for a factory reset option ... Then start again - from 1:43 in my video.

@@TheTechnologyMan What I mean is that the bulb is not detected by the application because I cannot reset/restart it with the on/off x3 method. I wanted to ask if you knew the timing for the on/off part. Cheers.

@@TheTechnologyMan im having the same problem...Meaning I screw in the light bulb and it's not flashing at all to connect. He is asking do you know how to reset the bulb WITHOUT it ever being connected to the app.

Sometimes you need to start from scratch with these - reset them, remove the app and download it again. If that doesn't work I'd contact Teckin. Good luck.

They seem to change features on these devices and in the app frustratingly. You could check with Teckin.

These things are more fiddly than they need to be - especially if initial installation doesn't go to plan!

Try reducing the playback speed to 0.75x - KZfaq does a good job on this. And you can enable captions - I have full transcripts for every video. Hope that helps.
