One of my most complex videos yet, covering advanced combinations with the phrase 'at least', or any condition attached, for example minimums and maximums. Combinatorics with a max or min does get a little advanced, but the challenging nature will not put us off!

The GRE and GMAT are two of most used graduate exams for those seeking to study a Masters Degree or Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree. The Graduate Record Exam and Graduate Management Admissions Test have been taken for over 50 years and are taken by approximately 600,000 and 300,000 people worldwide annually, respectively. These exams are typically taken between the ages of 18-40, by those who have completed, or are about to complete, their Bachelors Degree.

@@abhishekgupta-99 from my experience you should know at least 800 word if not more than 1500. Focus more on sentence completion and short/medium passages first, and don't do large passages. You should do those in parallel. That is if you are doing words and in between you can try one or more passages or text completions. You might find doing questions before doing all the words uncomfortable. But you won't regret it.

Hello Philip, your videos are really helpful and your content has a lot of worth. I would recommend you to check the arrangements and combinations chapter in the "The Princeton Review Math Workout for the GRE", 4th ed. In this book, there is an explanation of how to calculate permutations and combinations without explicitly using the formula. It is great for people that like to tackle math using logic. Also, I think that if you create a Patreons page many of us would be willing to fund your content. Thank you very much.

Boss Level is so much easier if you look at it from its complement; e.g., possible combinations when selecting 0 Fantasy films and 3 other films (5 films) + 1 Fantasy and 2 other films (5 films). The following gets simplified to: 5 C 3 + (3 C 1) x (5 C 2) = 40.

I solved the boss level one in a slightly different way, but its something that I used in my probability theory class once in a while. 8C3 - [Choosing 2 Fantasy + Choosing 3 Fantasy] = what we want 8C3 - [ (3C2 * 2C1 + 3C2 * 3C1) + 3C3 ] = what we want for the choosing 2 fantasy we can think about it like this, we chose 2 fantasy books from the 3, but we must also now pick a book from the other two types. So, we have to either choose 1 from Action type OR (think SUM) from the Drama type therefore, if we pick one from the Action type we have 3C2 * 2C1 and if we pick one from the Drama type we have 3C2 * 3C1 and since its an OR, we add these together to give us Choosing 2 Fantasy = (3C2 * 2C1 + 3C2 * 3C1) Now, for choosing 3 fantasy, we simply Choose 3 from the 3, meaning that we dont have to pick from any other type of book so we get this from earlier 8C3 - [ (3C2 * 2C1 + 3C2 * 3C1) + 3C3 ] = what we want and then you just plug in values and solve. You end up with 56 - [ (6 + 9 ) + 1] = 56 - [15 + 1 ] = 56 - 16 = 40 Its the same concept still, but this might help someone else if they think about it in the same way I did for choosing 2 or 3 fantasy .

Hello @The Tested Tutor (Phillip), why can we not use: 1) 3 choose 1 (choose 1 woman to keep fixed from 3 women) * 6 choose 2 (2 remaining women and 4 remaining men to choose from)? I was thinking all we have to do is keep one spot for 1 woman. 2) 3 (3 possible choices for women)*6 (2 remaning women and 4 men)* 5 (5 remaining people, gender doesn't matter)? While I understand the answer you gave, why are these two not correct? Thanks Anna

But my question is about second example where you have considered 9C4 - 5C1 where as it should be 9C4 - 4C2 because we don't need number of Non fiction? Am I wrong and missing something please guide.

I have a question: At 14:02 You listed the formula as Total # Selections - NOT getting what we want = what we want Then you went on to list 9C5 - Choosing 0 sci-fi - Choosing 1 sci-fi. My question here is how do you know what order the two things you don't want are going to be in? (In this example it's the Choosing 0 sci-fi and choosing 1 sci-fi). This question came up to me because I actually had put it as Choosing 1 sci-fi - Choosing 0 sci-fi. Of course in this question the Choosing 0 sci-fi was neglected because it's impossible, but in the event that it isn't neglected, the order in what gets subtracted matters because it isn't the absolute value of the numbers either... So how do you exactly know what to do in that sense? What order does it go in? Nonetheless, thanks again for a very informational video!
@TheTestedTutor
@TheTestedTutor 3 жыл бұрын
The order doesn't matter as you are subtracting both of them. Like 3 - 2 - 1 is the same as 3 - 1 - 2. But good question!
