I can't thank you enough for your work sir. Only in the last 200 yrs, thanks to the separation of church and state, have we been able to push back on the largest, most powerful religion on earth. Since Constantine they have had access to all the power any human being could have. Counselors to Kings, complicit in their selfish conquests, brutal in their tactics of war and punishment. Endorsing slavery and human exploitation. Thank you!

When your guest mentioned alien life being "quarantined by distance," I sighed in relief. Finally I hear someone else hit upon what I have been thinking for a long time. But I'll add the other dimension, time. It isn't just that potential intelligent life is so far away, it is that is is so long ago. The first radio signals that escaped from earth have only traveled about a 130 light years. We take that down to fifty or so when we talk about radio signals sent out intentionally. If one of them were received by some alien life, it could only be within a tiny fraction of distance compared to the whole galaxy, much less universe. And if they received and responded instantly, it will be generations that follow us who hear the response. That's a the speed of light. Physical travel would be exponentially longer. At some point we have to realize that if that alien life is intelligent enough to contemplate the travel, they are intelligent enough to recognize the futility.

Excellent discussion, thank you. I remember reading an essay by Isaac Asimov where he suggested a similar situation regarding extra-terrestrial sentient life, except he felt the first limitation on anyone showing up at Earth was economic. Even with advanced tech, the cost would be unjustifiable. And the last line of Eric Idle's Galaxy Song keeps playing in my ear...

On the Ancient Alien program, one thing I will never understand is how a technologically advanced civilization can come to Earth and yet all the "evidence" of them coming here is built out of sandstone or rock formations. Why didn't they share their technology so that things could have been made out of metal or some other unique material to prove they were here? Instead, all we have are stories of "sky people" and jagged carvings of blobs on stone tablets or paintings of nondescript shapes left for future man to interpret to mean Spaceship. Not one single episode of "Secrets of Skinwalker Ranch" or "Ancient Aliens" has any definitive proof of anything and is a huge exercise in confirmation bias and speaking in fact, when in reality, there are none. I would imagine that there are countless numbers of other civilizations among the stars, I am just not sure they have visited us. I'm not even sure they would know we are here because the distance and the images they would be seeing of our planet millions of years or more in the past.

The way I try to justify that same question in my own mind is using this analogy: Babies start on "pablum" or mush. They don't have the capability to eat more. They progress to solids to steaks eventually. Maybe same with us and our civilization. Many believe in the ancient aliens but I think the majority of folks still question if there are other inhabited planets "out there,." much less wrapping their heads around the idea of ancient aliens helping to build the pyramids, using the as giant sundials, etc. etc. Many are simply not able to "digest" hearing the information such as aliens walking among us such as the "hybrids," Reptilians living under the earth, alien stations under the Bermuda Triangle , etc. Most of humanity, i.m.h.o. need to start with the "pablum" and slowly progress up to solids and finally to the steak. Many of those here listening to this interview would qualify as "steak eaters" I would hope!

Seth, what fantastic guests! And you are so great at getting them to talk! Thankyou. I think it shows how slow evolution is, the fact that great minds finally staryed discussing, exactly as now, all these things back in ancient greece and rome. Other places, true, bit we know more there. It takes getting to a point where we can have leisure to do that. Though our tech took off and evolves much faster, scary, we haven't changed much. For now, the quesion, 'Are there other technologically advanced civilixations in our galaxy?' is, in essense, an opinion poll. Before answering, it might be a good idea to ask oursevles, 'How badly do I want the answer to be 'Yes?' I would submit many, if not most, people who have even a passing concern about the question would be profoundly disappointed were they ever to learn we were alone. This builds in a powerful bias toward answering in the affirmative.

@philarmstrong3765 - Since space is unimaginably enormous with all the kabillions of galaxies, stars, planets, it is only a matter of statistics that there would definitely be life elsewhere, no matter what form they take. (Perhaps we are the first civilization to arise and we will see no others in our lifetime?) Frank Drake's Equation for life in our own galaxy -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- = # of advanced civilizations in the Milky Way Galaxy = rate of star formation x fraction of stars w/planets x # of planets w/viable atmospheres x fraction fo planets where life does appear x fraction of planets where intelligence appears x fraction of civilizations that sends signs of existence into space x length of time those signs are sent into space .

Distance is not the only obstacle to discovering aliens. Time and direction are also a huge factor. There could have been untold civilizations that have come and gone even before our solar system evolved, and any signals not directed right at us will never be seen, especially if they happened billions of years ago.
@RickReasonnz
@RickReasonnz Жыл бұрын
At the level of extrasolar civilisations, distance might as well be BE time. It would be amazingly disappointing for SETI to discover an alien civilisation only to realise we will never be able to examine them through the problem of time and distance.

If there aren't visible satellites around a planet how could we even know if there was life on a planet. We assume but we don't know that sentient life on any other planet is carbon based and humanoid like us as well as give a damn about what's beyond their planet. On another planet where life has adapted to live underground, finding out what's "out there" might be the surface of their own planet, not the stars

There are some really good stories about communicating with alien life. Arrival(film) is probably the best example. Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir is a book about a scientist who gets sent on a mission to discover the source of something draining the suns enegry. He ends up having to learn to communicate with another alien scientist so they can figure out what is affecting both of their worlds. Its not the main focus(like arrival), but i though it was a very interesting aspect of the story.

The Ancient Egyptian Pyramids were originally built as altars, to worship the Elohim Extraterrestrials👽 Bible: Isaiah 19:19 In that day shall there be an altar (pyramid) to the Elohim👽 in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar (obelisk) at the border (of the pyramid) thereof to the Elohim👽. That's why the pyramids align with the 3 stars of Orion ⭐⭐⭐. "God" is pagan name, it's from the name Gad, Gad in the bible was a Babylonian God of fortune. Google it! The real Creator YHWH l believe may have been an Extraterrestrial that came to earth thousands of years ago, and according to the Bible's book of Revelation will be back again one day after the evil one known as The Antichrist is revealed. Isaiah 65:11 But ye are they that forsake me the Elohim YHWH, that forget my holy mountain, and prepare a table offering for Gad, the god of fortune. I'm so happy that some Christians have finally added the Hebrew word for "god" and "gods" which is "Elohim" to their Bibles. Berashit (aka Genesis) 1:1 In the beginning ( the) Elohim created the heaven and the earth. Bereshit (aka Genesis) 1:26 Then Elohim said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness👽. Genesis 3:8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Elohim YHWH as he was 🚶‍♂️WALKING🚶‍♂️ in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Elohim YHWH among the trees of the garden. Yechezkel (aka Ezekiel ) 1:5 ...within it 🛸 was the form of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: They had the appearance of man ( human) 👽 Yahsuah aka Jesus may have been an Elohim Extraterrestrial, Son of the ET Elohim YHWH 👽 John 10:36 Jesus said "I am the Son of (the) Elohim YHWH" 👽🛸 John 8:14 Jesus " l am not from this world " 🌍✨ John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto Jesus, "You are My Lord, and my Elohim"👽. John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended🛸 to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend🛸 unto my Father, and your Father; and to my Elohim, and your Elohim👽. Acts 1:9-10 Now when Jesus had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up🛸, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. They looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up🛸 In our Future... Revelation 21:2 l saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem ( Spaceship🛸), coming down out of heaven from YHWH Elohim 🛸👽 Revelation 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! Elohim YHWH dwelling place🛸 is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and Elohim YHWH himself will be with them and be their Elohim. The truth is finally being revealed! And the truth shall set you free! 🛸👽😁👍

It's gotten pretty bad. I grew up watching the History Channel and actually learned a lot from it over the years. Now, it's like you said, conspiracy crap and pseudo science. If I could point out one time when I realized that the channel was going off the rails was when I happened to be flipping channels late at night and stopped their probably ten years ago. I saw a show that I soon realized was more of a dramatized propaganda piece that someone paid to be shown on the channel. It was a dramatized account of a fictional christian family experiencing the end of days, where the anti Christ and one world order have taken over. There were scenes when this model christian family were trying to get out of their city to safer place and the one world army jack boot thugs were pulling people over and searching their cars for Bibles and arresting those who possessed them. Those people were then taken to detention camps. It all really fed into this christian American persecution complex. I also found it interesting that the anti Christ happened to be the president of the United States, who also happened to be a thin man who came from Chicago. Remember, this came out during the Obama administration, where these people were freaking out about him possibly being the anti Christ. That's when I stopped watching the "History Channel".

See the 22nd Episode Of the first season of Classic STAR TREK! "The RETURN of the ARCHONS" (written BY Gene himself!) They run a society where everyone walks and locks steps slavery mind-controlled to work everyday until the read our strikes when they're free to express how they really feel about being controlled...in other words... When the read our strikes everyone goes nuts and starts raping and killing and robbing and destroying... Then at the appointed hour the clock strikes again and everyone returns back to lockstep as if nothing unusual had ever happened. WHO in the H🔥LL ARE THE "Archons"? The Catholic Church has done it's DAMNDEST to DESTROY the Gnostics awareness of who the TRUE ENEMIES of humanity really are. And they successfully eradicated the Apocalypse of John and all the other Gnostic texts that were the basis for the OLDEST SPIRITUAL BELIEFS consistently espoused on Earth 🌎. It was nearly 2 millennium before these ancient texts were accidentally uncovered in an ancient graveyard from 400 B.C. outside of Cairo. The place was known as Nag Hamadi and so these ancient Gnostic Texts discovered in 1947 are now referred to internationally as "the Nag Hamadi Gospels".

It would certainly make more tactical sense than what often happens now which is lacktheist-atheists treat deism like it's the same as typical theism while trying to define agnosticism out of existence. Or also ridiculously, try to define agnosticism in a way where an agnostic could be an atheist but could also be a 9/11 Hijacker or an exorcist or a member of Westboro Baptist Church or a medieval inquisitor etc. 🙄

I think if a extraterrestrial life form evolved to our level of civilization, they would have a similar look to us. I am not talking about the cartoonish depiction of star trek but more like the Navi. First i think the planet that produces a equal civilization would have to be similar to earth due to the physical sequence of events that leads to a spieces at a equal level of our civilization. The reason they would most likely resemble us in some way is due to the fact that in order to get to this point, they would most likely follow a similar evolutionary path in order to manipulate and make complex tools. Now if they are a civilization that has surpassed our current technological advancement to the point that they have the technology to traverse interstellar space and reach us, i suspect they would know more about us than we know about ourselves. They also at this stage not look anything like us due to them first inhabiting their entire solar system and long durations of space life. At this point they could be a pure energy based life form or maybe any spieces that reaches this level evolves into AI. They probably would be a energy data based life form that can engineer any lfe form they need to suit any environment and travel at the speed of light as information. Since child birth, procreation and family structures would long be a thing of the past they might not have emotions or a sense of individuality. I do not think any movie or tv show has ever came close to depicting a realistic thought on what these alien would be like. They either look exactly like us, as our current form, in our exact time frame or they are depicted as animalistic and dumb. Im sure there are some books or media that have depicted a plausible outcome but i havnt seen it.

I've got something to add. Mormonism includes the multiple adams on many earths, how the one Jesus fits into it etc so..there is that. And just like "Christianity" has mainstream, pre Constantine and diverse viewpoints, non literal , philosophical etc. so does Mormonism. Its just as moving a target but with more authority as the info in consideration came from one researchable, trackable with primary sources , source. unlike the Bible. The topic under consideration is found in " The Pearl of Great Price" Mormon texts. Also Joseph Smith acknowledge many other Kingdoms within Kingdoms (other beings etc) and was public about not being able to reveal "the whole truth" about his spiritual knowledge (leaving an open door). As far as 'how its applicable" to all cultures and beings, a parent adapts knowledge to his/her children according to their growth, as far as if its only Jesus how can that be...Jesus clearly teaches he has followers who do not even know him but "serve" him indicating , specific knowledge is not as important as the heart...imagine that. Now if you don't understand any of this, perhaps studying theology would help you lol. Oh and don't worry, if you are not able to grasp these concepts, you will be presented with ones you can, if you choose to, but you probably wont try to explore these truths, unless you have faith . in what? in "the good" as perfect as you can imagine it (your level) And you wont be able to imagine how all this can be, unless you have hope...imagine that. but then you have to "listen" and be humble to learn (and the sheep know the shepherd's voice). Its all so confusing tho...not really. Not really. It takes logic, reason and hypothesizing which comes out ...well like religion. (without literalism)

Regarding Alien visitations... I wrote this thought out the other day on FaceBook: What if AI is only interested in AI? Humans are very new on the cosmic scene. Our radio broadcasts, at best, a mere 100 light years out into a 100,000 light year diameter galaxy, 2-million light years from the next galaxy, and one of perhaps just 2-trillion known galaxies perhaps 80-billion light years across. 100 vs billions. We're new. Yet, when we need to go somewhere dangerous, we send remotely operated vehicles, we don't risk ourselves. That's the smart way to do things. Yet we think that other beings who can cross the gulf of space (UFOs) contain actual living creatures (suspiciously similar to us!)? What's more.... they cross all of space, yet crash here like amateurs. Come on. I'm afraid those claims are daft. 1) They would send probes -- and when they got here, back home they could probably by then enter a virtual environment as if they were aboard... why risk it and waste the travel time? 2) They'd definitely bring AI along (way ahead of our kindergarten version). 3) Most likely biological lilfe has been superceded (therer) by synthetic life and it is AI planning and doing the travelling in the first place - it can take any shape it likes, or none at all. 4) And AI is much more likely to be interested in AI (artificial intelligence) than biological natural stupidity. I contend that any visitors that stumble upon us or have been watching for a while, are very unlikely to be interested in us, but rather in our children -- our AI.

But, it was just a hallucination, after all... although, it is a hallucination which is illicited by compounds, which occur naturally in all mammalian brains... so it could actually be a viable, naturalistic, explanation for religious experiences.... you know, since you can "make the angels appear" by simply inhaling a compound... a compound which is present in all mammal brains, including humans. @@abqchris2 Very old life is impossible before 3:rd generation of stars have started to burn out. This is because we need Carbon (or possibly Silicon) as base for life, and Carbon and Silicon needed to be around at the formation of that solar system. I guesstimate this limits the oldest possible life to 5-10 billion years ago. Perhaps also a recent neutron star merge in the vincibility is needed to provide the very heavy elements.

15:32 _"we may have a universe of infinite size..."_ Um, no. We actually don't. Just because it is mind-blowingly big, doesn't mean it is infinite. Infinity is a mathematical/philosophical concept, not a thing that exists in physical reality. We know the universe is expanding, which means it was smaller before, and now it is bigger. And now, a few seconds later, it's even bigger! Since Time is a factor in its growth, the universe will continue getting bigger over time. But it is still finite at any given moment along that timestream, because if it were infinite right then, it would have nowhere to go in the next moment, which means it cannot be infinite at any of those moments. At best, what we can derive from this is that the observable growth itself may be continuing for what would seem like forever, but the size of the universe is not infinite, and will continue to NOT be infinite, for at least that long. None of the actual data supports infinity. So, did we only adopt the term, so our brains would stop hurting from trying to imagine the total universe?! Could be... it's at least as likely as the universe being infinite. No, actually, I take that back -- it is _infinitely_ more likely! ;-] Of course, to all intents and purposes, it might as well be infinite, from a human's perspective anyway... But still, I am always disappointed when scientists wander into imprecision, to the point of silliness, just to use an expected trope in conversation. So, thank you, Mr. Adair, for going out of your way to speak to us as if we were Christian, or twelve! 🙄😊

I like how everyone forgets the theist comment - but you think life came from a rock.. If you believe life exists on other worlds, then you are(in a sense) believing in a mechanism that produces life from what???? The atheist has little options here. Yet an "atheist" = has matter and energy from which to draw conclusions......... All the theists have are ancient stories created at a time when people were by today's standards "marginally literate" + an assumption of validity - usually for poor reasons. Also the theist is further conflicted in that their entrance "into belief" almost always represents one of = Pavlovian conditioning. Hence beginning as children they are indoctrinated into the religious beliefs of their parents - as happened to the parents previously by the grandparents - to take that conditioned belief and apply it going forward via a culture replete with religious references. It represents stereotypical "confirmation bias" as well as what is tantamount to brainwashing as children lack the reasoning to recognize when they are being pushed into an assumptive belief system. Moral of the story: _"magical thinking"_ = is never a plausible answer to anything - yet that is the basis of religious beliefs......... 🤨

The sheer numbers of biomes necessary for this process are mind-boggling.
