Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is a musical comedy drama featuring Rachel Bloom as Rebecca Bunch, a high-up lawyer working in New York City who throws her big city life away to move to West Covina, California after bumping into her old high-school sweetheart. I'm honestly so impressed with how realistically and human-ly they have dealt with these issues in the show and the notion to appear ''happy'' all the time. As well as what is the meaning of happiness? It all goes back to the butter ad - ''When was the last time you were truly happy?''

same with me. I have never seen life imitate art more than the Sexy Getting Ready Song. It made me cry with laughter, but it was also like seeing myself on screen. I adore this about Crazy Ex Girlfriend. I relate to Rebecca quite alot. Also hearing Donna Lynn Champlin sing...her ''West Covina....that's where we are'' at the end of the pilot episode, gives me goosebumps, no matter how many times I hear it.

That’s one thing about this pilot episode that was genius. It starts with a VERY traditional disney musical song, then goes for the super irreverent parody. It advertises the show’s range and tome beautifully.

This show is criminally underrated. It's the one show I champion for to get other's hooked on it because it's just so good. They have had over 100 original songs! Not to mention the outstanding choreography, and the realisitc and relatable look into mental and emotional health. Sexy Getting Ready song remains in my top list of songs I love (out of like 15), purely because I've never related so hard to the struggle of getting ready for a date or just leaving the house. Although I do love ''Let's Have Intercourse'' just purely for the Ed Sheeran parody, and the stunning backhanded compliments haha. You Stupid Bitch made me sob the first time I heard it. Because it's so relatable, yet so awful. Same with A Boyband Made Up of Four Joshes. The songs are really the heart of the show. There are many amazing songs and great storylines!

I, for one, am particularly partial to "Hey, West Covina" and "Settle For Me" by Greg, "Where's The Bathroom" by Rebecca's mum and "After Everything I've Done For You" by Paula. Ooh, and "Head In The Clouds" by Josh. Anyone who hasn't seen the show can still find the songs on KZfaq because honestly, they are really good even without context.

Haha I could go on.... I'm a Good Person (the explicit version...all explicit versions are either on the soundtrack or Rachel's KZfaq channel ''racheldoesstuff''. When possible I just prefer those versions of the songs because it makes them so much more horrible/amazing), Oh My God I Think I Like You, Henious Bitch, Let's Generalize About Men, Strip Away My Conscience, Heavy Boobs, Miracle of Birth (because it's said so lovingly, yet always makes me cross my legs in horror), The Moment Is Me, Love Kernels, So Maternal, You Go First...so many more. I'm more favourable towards Rebecca's songs because I just love her humour and what goes on in her head, but other characters have some great ones as well. Honestly, seasons 1 &3 were the best for songs. I think in season 3 the only ones I wasn't so keen on were The Buzzing From The Bathroom, I Feel Like This Isn't About Me and This Is My Movement (not for the subject matter haha, just more I didn't like the style of song).

I love this show so much because it really exposes the rom-com tropes and traps that we've been conditioned to accept. It looks like a typical rom-com and even the title makes "crazy" seem like a cute and quirky thing like so many rom-com protagonists, but it's really a critique on such things and a look at how damaging Rebecca's behavior is though packaged in a very entertaining and pleasant package with killer songs. Even Paula's little speech at the end about how Rebecca's behavior is ok because she's doing it for "love" turns out to be completely wrong and misguided based on Paula's own unhappiness with her own personal life where she gets way too into involving herself with Rebecca's love life/mission. This show takes a really serious and dark turn and it's become one of the most insightful things I've seen dealing with mental health and recovery.

As an Irish-American (mostly), I LOVE Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. I'm not in the demographic group they're aiming for, but the humor and the music are just genius. (I admit that I've only seen musical numbers on KZfaq, but the songs are so creative, hilarious and generally wonderful, and the dancing is amazing.) Ok I'll promise I'll shut up soon with comments - but one thing I love about the pilot is the use of colour. In NY, the colours are drab and tired and dull - much like Rebecca's life. As soon as she hits West Covina that's when the music starts and the colour pops, she wears bright clothes and her life is so happy she just has to burst into song. I just love that little detail. #filmandmedianerd

I totally get Clisare's reaction. I hate musicals, but I quickly came around to this show, and still love it.

Ahhhhh I love that Clare went from hating it to loving it, warms my heart. Same thing happened to me, I'm not big into musicals but I adore that show!

This is why I don't get people who don't like musicals. They're not all Disney movies, guys (Not that there's anything wrong with Disney movies...) ... Like, this show, I forgot it could even be classed as a "musical" because all the songs are like crazy parodies, or further let you know how delusional she's being. Even that "West Covina" song Clare thought she hated is supposed to be funny... like, she's singing the praises of a mediocre American city that is generally indistinguishable from any other mediocre American city just because the guy she thinks she loves is there. That's hilarious. Musicals aren't all happy gumdrops and smiling happy glee. Music and song is just a storytelling element that can be used in a multitude of ways to tell any type of story. Just off the top of my head, would you say Over the Garden Wall is anything like Spring Awakening is anything like Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt? All three of those shows use music/song as part of the storytelling, sometimes, but none are similar and all use the music in different ways. You don't ever "hate musicals" unless you hate music in general. You probably just hate your concept of a musical. And I guarantee everyone who "hates musicals" likes at least one thing that uses music in the storytelling.
