He's never changed the system though in that time. He's never admitted to everyone that they won't be playing on the front foot and dominating, because they can't. If United sit back in that shell with a 3 CB system, with the quality they have up front they're going to be very difficult to beat.

Then we could attack and apply more preasure on the opponents. Not just hoping for counter attack.. Van der beek comes to mind

Actually 5 is best, he was crap. Fred got a half chance outside the box , he just can't control the ball, he knew that fucked up, on next ball he has a long shot just to cover the last chance. Fred knows he's not good enough but Ole like him.

I AM TIRED OF THIS GREENWOOD MUST PLAY THING… come on, can’t you see the boy needs to sit on the bench and watch Cavani and Ronaldo play and come in for a few minutes for them to try out what he’s learnt from them instead of keeping those great experienced players on the bench for him but keep loosing games due to his inexperience while he doesn’t learn and is unable to improve?

All I’m saying is if solskjaer doesn’t use sancho, Vdv, telles and co it’s not because it’s of the 5 at the back system that is on him. Because there are numerous ways to adapt our players into the system.

@@andypandy4607 OGS was a legend as a player and I don’t want him to take any abuse or to have his legacy tarnished. But he clearly isn’t up to it as a manager and needs to go, no trophies in three years after spending £450 million tells its own story. And losing to anyone 5-0 at home should never be acceptable for Manchester United. That said, the Glazers remain a bigger problem than whoever’s managing.

The team played their best game for a long time. Rock solid performance, Tottenham didn’t stand a chance, their supporters were fuming and leaving early. It’s what I want to see. Defensive overload was the big difference here.

That was our best performance this season bar maybe the leeds game. It was only spurs, but we looked better with a back 5 when defending and changing shape during attack. If we’d gone 4-2-3-1 i dont doubt that spurs would have had more opportunities because we cant havent seen much team balance in that shape.

Playing and relying on Greenwood was a big mistake. Greenwood and sancho are very inexperienced players. Ronaldo, Cavani and Matic bring finesse to the team. Brings balance and technique. Bringing pace off the bench allows for dynamic football.

I thought Mcfred was poor this game They are supposed to open themselves up for passes when Cbs and wingbacks have position and opposition is pressing Just because they played the easy passes doesn't mean they dictated the game as Tottenhams pressing was also poor The reason y our defenders (especially Maguire makes mistake is becuz Mcfred postion themselves very near the opposition players) ceating restricted passing lanes

I totally agreed on your concerns. A good manager should pick a suitable formation for different games. I don’t see there is a problem for todays back 5. I really hope he selected this formation because it’s right for this game. Not just out of luck.

It continuously amazes me how much pressure is heaped on the players and the manager, and how little sticks to the board and the ownership. The Glazers, Ed Woodward, Matt Judge, and company are the cause of, and their replacement would be the solution to, so many of Manchester United's problems.

“United way” my ass… 40% possession, 4 shots on target, 5-4-1 in defense. This performance was absolutely disgusting; this is football to get sixth, not first. Spurs were dreadful today, and I expect Atalanta will be delighted if we try to park the bus against them. Ole out, simple as.

Some of the best football we played under Ole was a back 5 as caretaker. It protects Fred and McTominay. Not for a second do I think Ole is good enough but can we not celebrate a win and let results dictate the future?

Mark 5 at the back is not necessarily a bad thing, lol here are a number of ways to play it and rotate all our players just adapting the system. For example: against smaller teams he could play sancho as RM and telles as Lm in a 3-4-3 Also he could play a front two of martial and Greenwood when he wants to attack with the ball on the floor and not crosses He could even play a 5-3-2 with sancho in the Bruno role as the number 10 The prayer is that solskjaer uses his squad properly and for the right game.

I could agree with this to a certain extent but Ole doesn't know how to rotate properly and use his team to its fullest on a consistent basis.

Ole spent £39m for Donny, Arteta got Partey for £45m. He will not allow Henderson to go. He lacks cohesion in the field as well as his man management. At the end of season Bailly, Donny, Sancho, Lingard, Martial Telles, Dalot, Williams & Tuanzebe will do everything to leave this club. Cavani & Pogba is ultimately leaving

Tbh.. even though we've been shite lately, I can see a definite improvement from before. Like in the past couple of seasons, even when we won 4-0 or 5-1, we as fans have always been left scratching our heads thinking how on earth did we manage that. A lot of those games we won, not only without comprehensively dominating our opposition, but also without displaying any kind of cohesion or system. In the past few weeks I've seen enough to give me hope. Yes we're not done yet.. still lots of work left, but I see something. Even against Liverpool, despite getting hammered comprehensively, we managed to slice through them on more than one occasion .. it's just our wastefulness and hare brainedness which was our eventual undoing. I do see some patterns despite what other people say (No system, no clear cut objectives) and I feel we now have something remotely coachable to win something. We have the players and we are kinda getting a sense of fluency which wasn't there till now. Even if ole's not the man.. he will have left behind more than enough for a good coach to go and do something with. Which is WAY more than I can say about the other coaches we've had.

Ole might actually turn out better than conte at playing conte football? Imagine that. The team looked cohesive and dynamic v spurs, best performance so far bar maybe the leeds game. Fans and players have been saying that things must change, well things changed and we looked decent. Spurs were crap but we havent limited any opponent to zero shots on target for ages. Just bleating on about ‘ole out’ is gonna depress utd fans this year, as well as sounding like a stuck record and being completely futile. Workrate was evident yesterday right through the team and the players made the system work. For once everyone looked like they were on the same page.

If the long term plan is to start with that formation and change to a more attacking formation around 60 min if needed then I’m ok with that. Rashford, Greenwood, Lingard etc are good impact players off the bench. Grind teams down then bring on the pace. Dont think that is the plan though.

Its good enough for conte and at least its a plan. The team actually looked light years ahead of where they had been prior to playing spurs. Workrate and staying compact defensively is a major thing, then add the quality up front. We have been trying to play with ‘luxury players’ in a 4231 and being shambolic defensively but relying on ‘moments’ for wins. Oles change yesterday is actually what any decent manager would do, or at least consider, and the change in the display/performance was like night and day. Of this is oles ‘lightbulb’ moment and he kicks on from here then im happy. But why it took a 0-5 against pool to find the lightswitch is anyones guess.

i wish goldbridge wasn't such a hypocrite. he was always ole out, but due to united's good run of games last year, goldbridge transitioned to "ole doubt".

i dont understand why you're annoyed or feel cheated because Ole changed his formation. Chelsea did it and went on a massive winning streak not so long ago. Ole seemed like he knew how to handle Tottenham and he won. I want Ole out but you need to respect that he won the game. And his tactics worked today

3-5-2 or 3-4-3 is not sustainable with the squad atm. One CB injury, and we have no depth in that position anymore.

I have a question Mark about wingers, we play 3-4-1-2 and what happened is the best wingers on the bench such as Sancho and also Fred shouldn’t be playing instead on Donny. So why not change to 4-3-3 attack

Conte was not chosen because we do not want another Jose. It seems all you can do is complain. Clean sheet, and a win. Take the result and see what happens the rest of the season. If today’s team is the way to go then that is what we do for a few more games until this team gets their confidence back. The other played have not done anything, and until they prove that they play for the team, they should stay on the bench. Ole has played 5 at the back before which you criticized. Ole played the way you wanted and we are crap. Let the team find themselves.
