I feel our best partnership would be bailly and varane if he still goes with a back four. Bailly is so much better than maguire but I feel a lot of people are exaggerating Bailly's performance just a little to be fair. But I suppose it's his first game in a while so I suppose he did do okay in all fairness.

Pogba had a shocker, passed more ball to the other team and Rashford was invisible. Maguire looked gased out as well as getting caught in possession a number of times. McTominay could easily have been sent off, another ref would have booked him again for his tackles. If McTominay wasnt a player from the academy he would have been sold. United will get battered by a team in the KO round assuming they get there.

I am at loss of words on Maguire, how can a premier league defender go one on one or for a tackle with his hands first like grabbing a person. His positional sense is zero and top of everything he is Captain of this team.

Spot on. Even saying his positional sense is zero is a compliment. He has no idea what a defensive line is, never knows where he should be, in individual defending his raised hand in prayer for an offside is better than his wildest dream of stopping even an old lady and the worst part. Even the greatest defender is a liability if he gives the ball away. He can't even be trusted to handle the ball! Every time he handles the ball under pressure your cardiologist is on speed dial. At the same time you can't bench the most expensive defender in the history of football without your team becoming a joke and cautionary tale. Lindelof is GOD compared to him.

WHY?! It's his best and ONLY defensive move. You can fault him for alot of things but never in raising his hand. Even when it's not even close to an offside or even sometimes when he is sleeping in his bed. You could be walking your dog or doing the dishes. One thing in life you should never question and always count on...is Maguire raising his hand.

Remember when Shaw had speed? Bailly was amazing, if we are playing wingbacks Teles and Dalot would be perfect. Not sure Varane and Slabhead make a good partnership, despite being good as individuals, the game is like that, you can put a billion dollars of talent on the pitch and get fleeced 5-0.

United shouldn't be a place manager learn the football basics. Defending starts with the high press man-marking from the attack to the midfield; Atalanta today showed that and that's why United had little chances. Tuchel has been doing the same since moving to Chelsea and they have the best defensive record. Ic really don't believe in this management when it really matters. Maguire is a robot!!! Ole out!!!
