Point is, fraternities are organization of men and boasts professionalism. Dressing preppy or w.e. doesn't mean we're "douchebags." We like to look nice, comfortable, and with manners. There is NO fixed dress code, only preferences. Sure I pay dues but I can say that these "friends" I pay for are some of the best friends I've ever had and trust with my life. My fraternity/chapter has taught me and helped me a lot throughout my college career and continues to do so, so I don't mind (continue)

You're right about one thing, "everyone...trying to fit in and trying...," and so do those not in a frat. Socializing is one of the main things you get better at in joining organizations such as fraternities. As far as "pieces of sh*t," not all frat men are but quite a good bit are - its unfortunate but some of us do get big headed. "Can't make it on your own," false. I came into my university with 1 scholarship and I'm going to be a senior this coming Fall and now have 3 (will continue.)

reaping those benefits, also another thing...everyone in a chapter pays dues so we're all equal. For those fraternity men defending their arguments with alcohol/parties/gdi you're not helping the stereotype stigma. Show your manners and remember that you too were a GDI/Geed at one point. Fraternities want to prove they're better than the average man then start by having manners and show respect to everyone (almost done).

scholarships - only I can shape up my grades/GPA. I actually have my priorities straight and I'll bet that other fraternity men who are serious with college work hard. "...need a frat...SECURITY," false. I'm 5'4 and have never used any of my brothers to help me fight my fights or be my "security." Laugh all you want about the stereotypical comments/stigmas but it doesn't make you better than fraternity men nor anybody at all for that matter. I'll hurry to my point (continuing).

@RayRay381812 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I thought the same thing at one time.....but being in a fraternity is more than being a part of a click or being popular. Its more like you are joining a family each brother is there to help the other brother wither it be girl problems to school problems or actual family problems. Im sry for the bad impressions you get from the fraternities on your campus. But don't base everything on them. Kappa Sigma

I've dressed that way most of my life. Don't assimilate. Dress like that because it's your style. I wouldn't consider any of that business attire either. Go to any FBLA-PBL conference, and you'll see what business attire truly is. Preppy/Frat clothes are casual. You just look super fly wearing it.

@DGFishRfine111 жыл бұрын
To clarify on my earlier comments: 1) Yes, I'm a GDI 2) No, I don't hate fraternities. I have really good friends in them. They do a lot of great stuff. I'm not saying anything that I'm saying out of some deep-seated hatred for the Greek system. 3) I'm saying what I'm saying because their advice about dressing is TERRIBLE. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. The ridiculous reliance on brand names to get their points across just demonstrates how little they know about clothes.

***** Everyone has their own style, I guess what I consider "average" would be like Urban Outfitters or Free people... even though I hate the idea of it... that is, indie clothing sold for hundreds or thousands of dollars a piece, I consider them the nicest most common and semi-affordable clothes. In my opinion I hate designer clothes, unless worn ironically. I thinks its immoral to sell art.. it goes against what its about.. Vineyard vines is far from designer... its mismatched pastels, its what trashy people wear if they want to be classy.
@ughkatie4808 жыл бұрын
***** Its the ideology of the people who wear it.. CLOTHES MEAN NOTHING. People wear vineyard vines as a status symbol, like you're wrapping yourself in plant material dipped in synthetic dyes. its all the same shit.
@DGFishRfine111 жыл бұрын
And no, I'm not one of these "OMG DESIGNER CLOTHES ARE STUPID AND CONFORMIST" people either. I rock Ralph Lauren Purple Label and Luciano Barbera, which I'd hazard a guess most people haven't even heard of. TL;DR: these schmucks know NOTHING about putting themselves together.
