Hi, here's another tip: use maximum tire pressure. That gives a smoother ride and faster wheel speed, so makes riding rollers easier. I put 120psi (8 bar) on my clincher tires. If you have tubulars, then you get a much better ride by using 160 psi. -ilan

Good tips. I learned by using two high back chairs on either side.. then ended ip removing one over time.. then later, no chairs. Carnivore Cyclist

great video thanks, been riding a few years now but bought my first set of rollers 2 days ago. On them fine already and even stood up yesterday, although sitting back down was a bit wobbly :-) need to learn the starting without support part next. Good tip on spinning with one leg first 👍

Ok an update to this video should include getting off the rollers. I'm just saying, my first experience was not good.

There are crucial techniques for protecting the bike components & finishes. I bounced 30 feet along asphalt after a boat trailer hit me and the bike got scraped wheel skewer paint & a handlebar tape small tear. Crucial techniques to protect the bike.

The Vegan Cyclist what rollers would you suggest?
@TheVCAdventures

I like the ones with a parabolic shape to the roller. It has saved me from rolling off the the edges many times. I know there are some with a forward and backward motion them, that would be sweet.

At 2:42 sweating I think is just because there's no air evaporation for drying. The sweating is no more than outside in summer. I sweated 30 pounds in 6 hours outside on June 16, 2002.

Nice videos. I also ride in the middle of a doorway. I have the left and right door jams to push off of in case I loose my focus and start leaning one way. I'll ride while watching movies on my iPad sitting on a stool, in front of my bike and sometimes I'll really get into the movie and forget to keep my balance.

I put a huge old bean bag chair on the other side from the post because basement floor is concrete. I got some string caught round the bearing & didn't notice until the smell of melted plastic so now only have 2 rollers & that's my excuse for using the fork stand.

40 psi tires on cyclocross bike makes rollers very easy and slow handling which is good for beginners. Use smoother cx tires not muddy knobby tires because the noise is annoying on knobs.

+Jason Hearne (EatRideRun) I love my rollers, BUT...and this is a big BUTT. I can not use them for any sustained workout over zone 2. There is just not enough resistance. So if you do get rollers, look into something that can add resistance to the system. Thanks a million for the comment bro!

+The Vegan Cyclist hmm I may just grab some second hand rollers and the Elite Voltare mag. Combined price is that of a set of new rollers and I can sell on the one I don't like. 👍 Good excuse for me to make a new video. 😉👍

+The Vegan Cyclist Dude, I routinely average an HR of 157 + (190 max) on the rollers. Just smash it in a big gear and average 64km/h over an hour www.strava.com/activities/505149277. There are few harder workouts!

Hi, thanks for the video man, exactly what i was looking for. I have a question: why everyone that is using rollers in the comfort of their house puts the cyclist siut on? I though they ware made of special materials to protect the body from wind or something... or to be more aereodinamic. I do MTB, can i use it my MTB ? Tyres are not smooth, but not to agressive. However the video is great and very helpfull. Next on my "TO WATCH" list is your "TOP 3 roller workouts (cycling indoors)". Thanks again and hope to get an answer.

Respectfully where is your helmet? Since you are speaking from a point of authority you should also remember to encourage/display bike safety especially for someone new to this cycling technique. Nice tips otherwise even though you forgot to state how dismount the rollers 😞.
