Two things that bothered me in this video. 1. Gil's armor is crazy strong. 2. Gil has no mental defenses? He's the only servant whos ego is so big that he can repel the Grail's influence. Even Saber who has crazy magic resistance turned into Alter, meanwhile Gil basically took a swim in the Grail and it did nothing to him.

One thing to mention that I think is relevant for the Abigail section is that, when Gil was coated in the grail mud (a physical manifestation of all the world's evils), he was completely unaffected due to his vast ego. It's not quite the same thing as what Abigail does to him, but I think he would fair better then you guys say he would.

I think you missunderstand Gate of Babylon a bit. It doesn't only have swords and weapons inside, but all the treasures of humanity. That's what makes Gil so dangerous. Besides raw power, he is the most flexible servant in existence. In your Scathach example you mentioned that she has him beat with her tools and skills. That's the thing though. Gil can pull all the counters he wants from the Gate. Anti-magic shields, amulets and elixirs for her runes. Device that scrambles her cognition to lock her wisdom of Dun Scaith. Whole range of mobility tools, invisibility, barriers and so on to not let her go close. But then again. Gil is not a character so much as a plot device. He was canonicly made the strongest, so he can defeat everyone he needs to, as long as the narrative calls for it. The same goes for his enemies. He can certainly loose, but he's not called the strongest without a reason. Btw. I'm surprised you haven't mentioned Romulus. I know he's a joke in-game, but he's a real powerhouse in lore. Perfect Imperial Priviledge baby!

I do have a few more ideas to add to the mix: - Rider Quetzalcoatl While Nightingale can't suppress Gil's Enuma Elish and utilize her own offensive capabilities at the same time, Quetz can. Her Xiuhcoatl Noble Phantasm would keep Gil from using Ea (though notably it only blocks the true name release, so Gate of Babylon is probably unaffected) while continuing her own attack. And while she is highly vulnerable to Enkidu, Gil is equally defenseless against Quetz's magic attacks, especially Piedra del Sol (which actually lowers her divinity level, which would help her against Enkidu). - Lancer Artoria Pendragon (and Alter) I'm not sure if this falls under the Artoria you already discussed, but I thought Rhongomyniad is worth considering. Both it and Enuma Elish are effectively destruction beyond description, and it may simply come down to who pulls the trigger first. This is a situation where the servants' personalities would likely come into play, as Gil is far less likely to take the fight seriously than either LArtoria. - Avenger Edmond Dantes This might be the most interesting one, because his abilities seem to counter Gil nicely. Attendre, Esperer would allow him to tank a few Gate of Babylon hits easily (and raise his parameters temporarily each time), and his Wisdom of Predicament skill would most certainly come into play against someone as dangerous as Gilgamesh. Most importantly however, Enfer Chateau d'If specifically allows him to "escape even abstract prisons such as time and space." The way that it is phrased makes it sound like it could remove him from existence temporarily, much like Avalon, to continue straight through Enuma Elish. One thing I'm surprised they didnt bring up more is the chains of heaven. Almost all of the servants on this list had fairly high divinity which means the fight would be over if Gil could wrap them in his chains. And the chains arent like Ea where Gil needs to really respect his opponents to use it since he uses it almost all the time.

Honestly I think Edmond vs Gil would be interesting as he can literally break space time with his agility, has an amazing strategic mind, and could likely end the fight before he gets Ea in his hand even.

Looking through the comments I’m actually surprised that Shuten Douji has been seemly forgotten. Especially considering Raikou was brought up for consideration versus Gil. Raikou has to cheap shot Shuten by putting her to sleep in order to get the job done. Lore wise, Ibaraki is supposed to be the strongest of the Oni of Mount Ooe and is wary of Tamamo to the point of being scared just thinking of her. This is because of Tamamo’s pedigree as one of Japan’s Great Monsters. Of which there are three. Apart from Tamamo, the only other member we have any information on is Shuten-Douji. It’s stated multiple times that Shuten far outclasses Ibaraki despite Ibaraki’s incredible strength. Shuten isn't afraid or even wary of Tamamo. Which in my opinion, says a lot. Looking at Shuten’s Parameters, we can see they are all quite high except for luck. STR/END/AGI/MANA/LCK/NP -> A/B/B/A+/D/B. By comparison to a servant like Berserker Heracles, Shuten comes only a tad behind in raw stats save for Mana which she actually beats him slightly at. This taking into account his Madness enhancement but not her Demonic Nature of Oni which I’ll get to real quick. Taking a look at her personal skills we can see that the three she has are all incredibly powerful. Alcoholic Scent of a Fruit (A) can make a target “dead drunk” from a mere sigh, tone of voice, or even a gaze. Those without magic resistance have thier thoughts melted in an instant. So if Gil isn't wearing his armor he theoretically would auto lose, where as if he is, it’s a matter of how long would the effects take to go into motion and whether or not he would notice what is happening. Demonic Nature of Oni (A) is said to be a combination skill composed of Natural Monster, Monstrous Strength, Charisma, Mana Burst, etc. As we don’t have the information on what “etc” would be, can only look at what the former mentioned skills can do at the same level. Natural Monster seems to grant STR and END. Monstrous Strength increases STR by a grade for an undermined period of time based on level. Charisma isn't really applicable here. Finally, Mana Burst can be used to increase one's Strength, Defense, and Speed based on it's level and how big of a mana pool a servant has to pull from. Comparatively speaking Altria, has the same rank in Mana Burst as Shuten does in her skill except Shuten has a bigger mana pool to pull from. Battle Continuation (A+) is a skill we are all familiar with so I wont go far into it. I will however, mention that Shuten's rank in this skill is above Berserker Heracles, only matched by Archer Heracles, and only outmatched by Grandpa Hassan. Finally, we have her two noble phantasms. Multitude of Colors - Providential Oni Poison (B) poisons the field and bestows negative statuses and erodes the body until only bones remain. It also gives her an awesome sword. Though, I can't imagine the negative effects of this noble phantasm would come into play. But speaking of bones, Bone Collector (B) is pretty scary. It's said to literally allow the user to de-bone an opponent without bloodshed. "The purpose of doing this isn't always to kill the opponent, but if she feels like doing it, this operates as a Noble Phantasm with an exceedingly high probability for instant death." Yikes. That being said, I'd say that this fight is majority in Gil's favor. Depending on how seriously he treats Shuten and whether he knows her true identity would shape how the fight would turn out. While Shuten is no Abby in appearing to be defenseless due to those horns, she's still a little girl and an expert at hiding her true power level and intentions. Honestly, I'd argue it would only take one hit from Shuten to kill Gil. The only question is if she can guile Gil into taking her lightly until it's too late.

Fun fact for Berserker Hercules: Illya sealed Madness Enhancement. She already knew the parameters of Hercules and decided to only unseal the Madness Enhancement as an emergency.

So I'm noticing a trend where you guys are downplaying Gate of Babylon like it's not a big deal and I'm not okay with that. Gil, even when "not serious", constantly rains down dozens upon hundreds of potentially A and A+ tier Noble Phantasm, at absurd speeds. Unless your name is Karna, you aren't casually getting near him. "Getting close" is the part where 85% of Servants die.

The only thing is that it was mentioned that the reason Gil doesn't have Magic Resistance is because he doesn't need it as Gate of Babylon has anti-magic items in it quote "The state of his Magic Resistance matters little, as he is able to neutralize most magecraft with his many items that defend against it. His armor and a shield are able to repel A rank magecraft with ease." This is similar to Siegfried as the reason he doesn't have magic resistance is because of his invulnerability NP. This also includes defensive items like: -Auto-Defensor (自動防御, Jidō Bōgyo?) - A series of golden discs that floats in the air to intercept attacks coming within range, able to be set up so as to protect an entire floor of a building. At twenty meters, it automatically sends out an innumerable series of small lightning bolts to strike down the target. It is possible for attacks like the arrows shot by True Archer to slip through the defenses despite the great speed of the lightning. -A Mirror Shield used to effortlessly repel strong magecraft

Something about Alcides: he actually has no divinity. His master and the grail mud caused it to be removed and causing him to become who he is. Meaning he lost his biggest weakness he had as a berserker. His valor skill has been demoted to an E rank due to his corruption of the grail mud making him vulnerable to mental assaults. And finally he has one more noble phantasm, Reincarnation Pandora, which allows him to steal Noble Phantasms. This is why Alcides wanted Gilgamesh to use Ea, so he could steal it and possibly use it against him or at least prevent him from using it. Then we have Kings orders, the twelve labors manifested as a Noble Phantasm. We only know how 4 of them work in Fate, The Nemian pelt which grants immunity to all weapons made by man, however attacks like punches, slashes from claws or fire can harm Alcides. The Pelt will at worst have a few holes in it. The stymphalian birds can be summoned to attack and distract the opponent. The Goddess of war, the belt that belongs to the amazons and greatly increases the users Divinity, Strength, Endurance, Agility, and Mana parameters. Its strength however has a limit due to Mystery in modern society being weak. And finally we have Cerberus, the legendary divine beats who guards Hades, each breath it makes is poisonous and its fangs are incredibly sharp and can even act independently. But it has been weakened by Alcides lack of Hades' blessing and possibly his divinity. Edit: So we know what his fourth and Sixth labor manifest as, the fourth is effectively Guts but with a full heal, and the sixth is in fact the four Mares of Diomedes.

It needs to be noted that aside from Enkidu who can stalemate, Gil can only be beaten by a servant when arrogant, period. Parameters don't matter if they're not even capable of getting past the gate spam, which Heracles and Lancelot (in the original zero LN) were unable to do with A and A+ agility stats respectively. Note that the upper limits of how much GOB can fire at max capacity isn't seen anywhere but strange/fake. If Heracles and Lancelot can't even withstand lesser barrages, why are we assuming that other servants can do so on physical stats alone when these parameter juggernauts clearly failed? That means the anti divine weapons are coming out for Karna/Ozy, anti dragon ones for Artoria, etc. There are only 4 characters that have been shown to counter this barrage, Enkidu, Emiya, Artoria with Avalon and Alcides and they don't counter it with "parameters". Enkidu and Emiya have their own swordspam, Avalon is Avalon, and Alcides has the pelt of the Nemean Lion. We know Emiya can't win because a grail boosted version of him lost to an inferior Gil in Angelica. So yea, it's really just Enkidu, Avalon Artoria, and Alcides here. The whole out-tricking Gil isn't valid either because he's more likely to trick someone like Arjuna as opposed to the other way around due to Sha Naqba exceeding the capabilities of Clairvoyance C. Did we also just gloss over the fact that Enkidu nullifies Karna, Arjuna, Atilla, Ozy, Abigail, and Raikou as they are divine? What about the fact that Sha Naqba removes the "information" problem on Gil's side? Then there's Ea which when unrestrained in strange/fake was splitting the world apart, The only reason it didn't was because of Enkidu's own Enuma Elish. This might be enough to deal with Artoria? Would killing the planet and flying to another one (like in the ending of Extra/CCC) constitute as a win? I loved the presentation of this. I’ve always enjoyed this sort of discussion, but the nebulous nature of Nasuverse lore makes many forums/threads feel like they degenerate into a “who has more useless nerd knowledge” contest rather than a celebration of this fictional concept is cool, and even if it has a low possibility of happening within the established rules, lets explore it anyway - because it’s cool. So basically Nobu vs. Gil could play out like Squirrel Girl vs. The World in the Marvel comics, where she beats Thanos offscreen as an offhanded gag, except it actually makes sense in-universe.

Cu and Gil have met, and they don't care for each other. Serious personality clash. In the Fate route Cu stalls Gil for half a day in the basement of Kotomine Church after letting Shirou and Rin go because he wouldn't follow the order to kill them. Cu can't get in close enough, nor was there an opportunity to really strike back at him, trying to use Gae Bolg would mean standing still so he couldn't do much except dodge. At the end of those 12 hours Gil finally gets it that he can't pin Cu down with the Gate because of Protection of Arrows, so Chains it is due to Cu's divinity. Cu dies at the end of Fergus' sword, Caladbolg, that Gil pulled out of the Gate.

The thing I like about Gil is that in almost all of his lost battles he lost because he was being cocky and refusing to use Ea.

I think Edmond Dantes might actually stand a chance at beating Gilgamesh. From a parameter standpoint, he matches Gilgamesh's strength, agility, and mana while beating him in endurance, though his luck is literally questionable. However, his first Noble Phantasm, Monte Cristo Mythology, bolsters all of his physical parameters while using magic for attacks and concealing his class and stats. Given his low magic resistance, this would put Gilgamesh at a disadvantage in close quarters and might even through off his clairvoyance skill. Dantes's second Noble Phantasm, Enfer Chateau d'If, lets him move so fast that he can create speed clones of himself for simultaneous attacks. In F/GO, the description also says that some might even say he could stop time. In other words, it could be possible for him to counter the Gate of Babylon by creating a speed clone for every portal Gilgamesh opens up, and then Dantes could just zoom in and blast Gil in the face before he could even say Enuma Elish.

Other Servants that could [potentially] stand up to Gilgamesh would be Dantes, Merlin, Romulus and Siegfried. I'd put in Thor, Shuten and Proto Arthur as well but we either A: Dont have enough info on them to make a really good guess. B: Dont know what their capabilities are in other, stronger classes and thus cant make an informed decision or C: Probably dont count because you could argue they have the same capabilities as Arturia, respectively. I would also like to see a discussion on whether or not First Folio would beat Gil or not. After all, First Folio hits mentally sound targets even harder than those who are more hung up on their own personal tragedies. Willy Shakes might just be able to do the same thing Abigail does but without needing access to an Eldritch God to do so.

My thing with Gil is that, yeah he's the strongest hero, anti-world Noble Phantasm, etc, etc, but he so chronically underestimates opponents and is so goddamn arrogant that when you ask me, "Who can best Gil in a fight?", my answer is invariably, "If a fully human, ordinary, teenage Shirou Emiya can beat Gilgamesh, then basically anyone can beat Gilgamesh in the right circumstances."

A little addendum, the UBW anime liked making things flashy and dragged out the fight with Shirou and Gil. In the source material, Gil wasn’t even able to fire a weapon out of the GoB before it got countered and didn’t even hesitate when pulling out EA.

Gil is KZfaq in a being. The more clout you have, the more untouchable you become. I love his character. He's the kind of dude who'd punch out a hooker, laugh about it, and you'd find yourself wanting to laugh with him.

Ok, a few (read: a lot) notes: Gilgamesh: - Ea doesn't reveal the Root, lol, it reveals the primordial state of Earth before creation, which is basically a ball of gas, - Golden Rule slightly strengthens Servant's Noble Phantasm based on how much money he has. Of course, in Gil's case it doesn't matter, because he always has his entire treasury in GoB. Karna: - Vasavi Shakti was recently retconned in Link, now he can spam it if he has enough mana to regenerate his skin/armor, - Karna actually curbstomped Gil in their first fight in CCC. Shishou: - She terribly jobbed to Cu in Link, so I doubt if she has better chance than her pupil, - Cu stalled Gil for 12h in Fate route. Nobu: - Her RM is based on fire, so if you have some sort of fire resistance, you should be fine (for example, Karna, despite being super divine, should be fine because he's completely immune to fire due). So, now it depends if Gil knows about her ability. If yes, then he'll just use GoB ex Machina and pull some sort of fire defence out of his ass. Raikou: - her Saber form is scary not because of her strenght, but because she's completely merciless in that form. Abby: - Actually, it is revealed in her interlude, that Chaldea!Abby is an actual Heroic Spirit Abby, who exists even without being fussed with Yog, but she has power of the Outer Gods because Salem!Abby is influencing her, - Chaldea!Abby is super limited compared to Salem!Abby, - In Salem Singularity we've defeated Abby only because Nezha, Circe and Sheba severed her connection with Yog. The thing is, they needed to do it **from the other side**. So yeah, apparently if you're not entirely human, you'll not went instantly insane when seeing the Outer God. Pioneers of the Star: - We know from Drake's second interlude that PotS allows you to do basically anything as long as you have enough resources, - Napeolon actually has similar chance to Da Vinci and Tesla, maybe even better. That fucker is basically Kamina - tanked a blow from Surtr and then destroyed his sword with his cannon powered by "the hopes of humanity". Who should be mentioned: - Dantes: fast enough to break from time-space? For me he has a fairly good chance just because of that, - BB: Not even Summer BB, just normal BB. In CCC Gil needed to acquire a special Mythological Mystic Code to fight her. Also, Gil himself compared Foreigners' powers to BB, - Iskandar: It is stated in an interview that he could have a way better chance against Gil if he didn't lost his chariot to Artoria, - Sigurd: stated to be a Heroic Spirit on Herc/Karna level. - Karl aka old!Charlemagne: because beating Gil is exactly what he did in Link.

If I could have one servant of each main type, I'd have seven Gilgameshes. On a less joking note, can people move through the Gates of Babylon? If not (or even if so), Gilgamesh could likely litterally surround someone with a bubble of gates and just fire so many blades (especially blades that are especially suited to killing his target given his ability to know the best descion in combat (though he usually ignores it)) simultaneously that they can't be dodged. Gil probably wouldn't do that, but he _could_ and if he does, I'm not sure anyone could beat that. You guys really downplayed all the shit he can do with the Gates; he has _better_ versions of almost everything that has ever existed. For instance, with Abigail, Gilgamesh himself has no magical resistance, but I guarantee he has a shit load of artifacts in there that can boost it to ludicrous levels (you did mention the possibility of him pulling out some bullshit here, which he totally could but it's also totally possible her shit could blast through that... maybe, without knowing the full depth of his wealth, it's night impossible to say). The Gates can counter nigh on anything he comes across that he doesn't already have an easy way to win. While we've rarely seen it done, it is stated repeatedly that he has counters for basically everything, he just chooses not to use them. With Scáthach, he can fire a better version of Gae Bolg right back at her (probably just for shits and giggles rather than anything real, but he _can_ match anything she throws at him with something better) and so on. While he is rarely shown actually doing so, he does have the capability to throw millions of _activated_ or even _broken_ Noble Phantasms that are stronger than the version actually wielded by the heros that made them famous. As shown by him summoning wine and his space ship, he has far more than just weapons in the Gates; while it is never shown (primarily due to his arrogance), he definitely has defensive Phantasms (or neutral Phantasms but that's not wholly relevant) in his Treasury that he could use for defence and perfect counters to basically everyone. I'm not saying he _would_ use such things (and thusly win), his arrogance gets in the way as clearly evidenced by his rarely doing so before; I'm just saying he _could_ and if he did, he would win most of these. You also seemed to underestimate his clairvoyance; no matter how well you try to hide rhings from him, he can immeadiatly tell and it also tells him detailed information about their abilities and Noble Phantasms (so he would know immeadiatly everything about Abigail for instance) and it guides him on the optimal choices to achieve his ends (not that he always takes them, he is highly arrogant). Given we have no true idea the true depths of crazy bullshit he _might_ have access to, we really can't say definitively what he can and can't do. His personality definitely holds him back though and without him actually pulling out what he needs and putting his crazy knowledge powers to full use (which, if he did, he'd almost certainly win every fight) him losing is a solid possibility. I'm not saying he would definitely win, mostly due to his personality, but he _could._

Been a while since I watched this but I feel that Gil's "see everything about a servant would then make him see Abby's Yog Sathoth" thing and then because its said that if a person sees an outer gods true form (which Gil's skill would of course let him see using it on Abby) goes mad from the revelation... Gil would defeat himself by looking upon something he can't conceptualize.

I always thought Asterios would have a fair shake as his marble phantasm means Gil can't use Ea as he still is technically on the earth, and the walls (built to contain his A++ strength) of the Labyrinth gives Asterios cover to use. This actually gives him a way to close the distance as Gil has to try wandering the maze sometime, leaving him open to ambush. Now GOB may have other things that he could use to get out of it, but that's just guessing. I mean he's one star in FGO but lorewise he's on par with Raikou and similar servants, especially on his own generated home ground

If Gilgamesh ever found out a way to weaponize his ego he probably can destroy the whole universe.

Also I think that it should be mentioned that Enkidu can canonically be summoned as a Berserker, presumably more akin to their form they possessed before copying Shamhat's form. This form is about 50% more powerful than Enkidu was when they fought Gilgamesh, since they "lost half their power" then. Since Enkidu was at half capacity during their fight with Gil I think it could be pretty easily said that they could absolutely slam him in a fight at 100%

If I may bring up a minor honorable mention I thought of it'd be Siegfried. It's mostly because of Armor of Fafnir, with it Siegfried is completely impervious to harm from attacks and Noble Phantasms ranked B and lower. And even A-Rank Noble Phantasm's and attacks are reduced in rank by B. AKA A-Rank is lowered down to E making them little more than bug bites. It would render most of the Gate of Babylon nearly useless. Even Enkidu wouldn't be that effective since Siegfried has no divinity to speak of. The only reason I consider him an Honorable mention is his weak point on the center of his back. The only reason I could think of for Gilgamesh to not take advantage of that glaring weakness it'd be because he didn't know about and Siegfried killed him before he could learn of it or alternatively Gil actively chose not to target it just to prove he could still kill Siegfried with a literal death of a thousand cuts.

I was wondering about Edmond Dantes. He is crazy fast and may be able to speed blitz Gil. If nothing else, he would be very hard to kill.
