Tony Wakim (former Voiceplay baritone and co-owner with Layne of Pattycake Studios where this is filmed) did all the drawings in the journal. His college major was animation. After filming, the journal brought in quite a bit of money during one of VoicePlay’s patron auctions for charity.

One more background secret: they forgot to film what was supposed to be the final scene. They were going to cut to Kathy and her eyes were going to do the same “koo koo” thing that Layne’s did. Which was to imply she had been built too.

The bridge that Geoff added to make it a little longer is just adorable. It starts at "Can you ever," and ends with "into the darkness of night".This is a very gentle song, and the ending is so sweet. Good taste, I think that's what you mean. Layne has such a repetoire of sounds to draw on and is always coming up with new ones. And this was Layne's arrangement with additional material from Geoff, as mentioned.

This is such a sweet video. Originally Layne was supposed to be the perfect man but video wise that didn't work. It's better this way. You don't know the original so you wouldn't recognize that it is longer than the original. Geoff added a bridge which to me is the best part of the song.

Love the ending even when watch on Geoff KZfaq about the hearing loss that Kathy has it so sweet and beautiful how they talk about it. How you see them together. Hope you do some more VoicePlay and Geoff KZfaq

You are always so thoughtful and educational in your breakdowns. When I first heard the original song, I didn't really like it. It wasn't bad, but it was boring and got old quickly. Not surprising that Voiceplay's version took care of that, and I absolutely adore their cover. Thanks for breaking it down for us!

Just went and looked and it was Layne's arrangement. I don't know how anyone could know who did what unless you look.

If you follow trending and listen for the things that the arrangers typically do in their arrangements, you can usually make a well-educated guess, and get it right.

Geoff tends to make Layne dance like a monkey in HIS arrangements, and Layne does the same for Geoff in HIS. So if a song is perc-heavy, chances are Geoff arranged it. If it's bass-heavy, think Layne instead. Geoff, in a recent interview with Peter Barber (who also does reactions on KZfaq), said that Layne gives "no shits" about anyone's ranges or capabilities. He just assumes they can do what he arranges...and they do it. :)
